Every little bit helps! If the Islanders can beat them I think there's hope for the Canucks:)

islanders can beat any team on any given day, just like they can be beaten by any team on any given day.
also, islanders were not playing the second game of a back to bAck, canucks will be doing that.

the one thing that has happened which will make any team playing anaheim breath a bit easier, is that
their number one goalie is out of the lineup for a few weeks, so they Are using their backup, who is
fine, but not as good as their starter.

Sometimes with back to backs they have momentum going for them.:)

Sometimes with back to backs they have momentum going for them.:)

all teams have to go thru that back to back thing, and they know how hard it is, so they will
take advantage As much as they can.

if canucks can score enough goals in the first half of the game to get a good lead, then they
could sit back a little, and play defense, when their legs are feeling fatigued, and prevent
scoring AgAinst them.

canucks have not done well thus far in back to backs this season, but it certainly isn't
impossible.

momentum is a good thing, if the body is fresh and able to perform at its best.

i don't think getzlaf played last night, don't know what the trouble is, don't know if he missed
the whole game or?
now, that is something that could change the whole game.

just heard that last night perry and getzlaf both missed the game because of
illness, so seems they had the flu, so that definitely made a difference in
that game, and they probably will both be back on sunday, but hopefully they
are both fatigued from throwing up. lol

bonino is a game time decision tonight, has an injury, doesn't seem to be serious,
but they still don't know if he will play tonight.

Vancouver Canucks vs. San Jose SharksCANUCKS (9-4-0) at SHARKS (7-4-2)

TV: SN360, CSN-CA

Season series: The San Jose Sharks won three of four games against the Vancouver Canucks last season. Despite being in the same division, this will be the first time Vancouver and San Jose have faced off in nearly a year. All four games between the teams last season were played between opening night and mid-November.

Canucks team scope: After defeating the Colorado Avalanche 5-2 on Tuesday, Vancouver is tied with the Calgary Flames for second place in the Pacific Division with five wins in its past six games. The win opened up a four-game road trip for the Canucks, who will play all three of the League's California teams over the next four nights. The Canucks will get a boost Thursday from the return of Alexandre Burrows, who has finished serving a three-game suspension for a late hit on Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin. "I'm really excited to get back at it, join the boys [Thursday] in San Jose," Burrows said Wednesday. "It should be fun, especially the way they played [Tuesday] night." After playing San Jose, the Canucks will visit the Los Angeles Kings and Anaheim Ducks on back-to-back nights this weekend.

Sharks team scope: The Sharks enter Thursday 3-0-1 in their past four games, but maintaining that momentum against the Canucks could be a challenge. San Jose will be playing its first game in five days since defeating the New York Islanders 3-1 last Saturday. The gap provided the Sharks an opportunity to fine tune. "When we have given up goals in the third period, they're preventable things," forward Tommy Wingels told CSNBayarea.com this week. "It's mental mistakes on a lot of sort-outs, or over-backchecking in the defensive zone. You can watch it on film, but when you can work on it three or four times in practice, it really is helpful." Goalie Antti Niemi, who has been in net for all four games during San Jose's current run, will start again Thursday. Tyler Kennedy, who has not yet played this season, might also be in the lineup after returning to the Sharks from his conditioning stint.

oh yeah, thats who it is, they kind of look alike. i just looked up the story on sawchuck, what
a life he had, he did play for the rangers for one season, but he also played for detroit, toronto,
los angelos and boston i think.

he died at 40. alcoholic, had seven children, became abusive, his wife divorced him, he was horsing
around with a teamate one day in their hotel room, and they scuffled, and sawchuck fell on the other guys knee, and had two surgerys
because of liver damage, finally died as a result, seems from a blood clot.

worsley became very chubby as his career went along, looked the pillsbury dough boy at times. lol

Terry Sawchuk - yeah I remember him very well. What got me about him was this "photo":

Back then I, like many others, was fooled into thinking this was real. But it was only a makeup job designed to sell a few magazines. And it is true that he died from what was described as horseplay. Very sad incident that got much attention in NYC at that time.

As for Gump, they used his photo in many ads up until his death here in Gopherland where he was beloved by many puck fans.

yee haw, too little too late for s. jose, game was over when the puck went in.

well. miller kept his team in this game in the first period, as they were badly outplayed
and outshot, and he made several key saves.
canucks improved their game from then on, and made a good game out of it.

so now that is the first of the california games, and this trip now has 2 wins, so all is
well, whatever they do in the next two games won't ruin this trip but could enhance it, but i have to add, they better play better against l.a. and anaheim than they
did tonight.

bonino did it again, he has a great accurate shot.

horvat did get his chance to play as kassian was out of the lineup due to injury.

Miller pulled this one out of the fire but overall a decent effort-two very evenly matched teams.

I watched the San Jose feed and was impressed by how knowledgeable & professional the SJ play by play guys are.

Jersey Devils are on a bad losing streak. Three losses in a row.

Tonight Detroit > NYD: 4-2

Interesting how Red Wings defensemen scored three goals {Kindl, Smith, Kronwall}. Haven't see too many D men that can score well over the years and was reminded of the great Bobby Orr who, I have always felt, was the greatest player in NHL history. Too bad he played in an era when players were allowed to slash you in the knee and tear your legs right from under you like they did with him. He was truly a once in a lifetime player.

yes, i remember him well, but also, if he was playing now, his knees could have been repaired much
more successfully.

he was a great player, but having said that, he would not have been as successful as he was, if he
was playing today, defense today is so much better than it was in those days, and he would not have
been able to rush with the puck like he did, but he would still have been very successful today even
without being able to do that, just as lidstrom was, and blake, shae webber, and drew doughty and many others, there is much more
to defense than being offensive.

i watched most of that game tonight, i see babcock has got his detroit team going again, they are
starting to look like a 'typical' detroit team again, but datzuyk is injured again, he is getting
injured far too often of late, wonder how much longer he will play, he is still an awsome player.

Back in the day Bobby liked his bubblies:

In those days when they tried to hurt you it was in the knees and we had fewer concussions back then. Another bad thing about today's game is that we no longer see the end to end rush when someone like Orr would take the puck from the back of his net and skate all the way to the opposing net. Today, it's more about the stay at home D men. True it involves a lot of skill, power, and lots of hard work. But every once I'd like to see D men shoot the puck and make an offensive presence on the ice and not just from the blue line.

no, not so much D men rushing these days, but like i said, the coaching is so technical these days, that
those rushes are much more difficult, the defense are much better now, the strategy so much more detailed,
and that makes for better hockey, not more entertaining hockey, but the players are coached so well
from little kids right into the NHL, and defense can be taught so much easier than offense, so coaches
can teach players how to stop great offensive players.
the game is so fast now, and that causes more injuries in itself, the impact of plAyers on each other,
and also on the boards is much more violent, and the players much bigger.

ryan nugant hopkins for edmonton did an end to end rush the other day, and
scored, it was very well done, and a very classy shot to beat the goalie,
but yes, those types of players are few and far between in todays game.

years ago when players did not wear helmets or visors, the head area by the mAjority of plAyers was not
targeted, with exception to a very few, which caused serious damage.

the hacking and wacking from sticks has been taken out of the game, and that is good, there use to be so
slashing and hooking on each other, now days, the rules are geared for players to keep their sticks 'off' of other
players, hence, those hooking penalties, even when done in a non violent way, they do not want players
putting their sticks on the hand area of other players. the stick is for stick handling, not wacking
other players.

its harder to score now, so it is more appreciated when A player can break thru a defense or do a great passing play, then score, years ago it was much easier to stick handle and skate right by defenders, not now.

Message:Canucks continue California trip vs. Kings
Vancouver Canucks vs. Los Angeles KingsCANUCKS (10-4-0) at KINGS (7-4-3)

TV: CBC, TVA SPORTS, FS-W

Season series: California has not been kind to the Vancouver Canucks of late. They were 1-6-1 there last season and lost all three road games against the Los Angeles Kings while being outscored 9-2. Kings goalie Jonathan Quick dominated the Canucks in 2013-14, stopping 80 of 82 shots, and is off to a hot start this season with a .943 save percentage that ranked third in the NHL heading into games on Friday.

Canucks team scope: Vancouver, which was off Friday, has been one of the NHL's early offensive surprises, bouncing back from having the third-worst offense last season to the third-best so far this season. But for all the focus on scoring, Vancouver escaped its first game in California with a victory because of new No. 1 goalie Ryan Miller, who made 34 saves in a 3-2 win against the San Jose Sharks on Thursday. Miller, signed as a free agent during the summer, is 10-1-0 in his 11 starts but for the most part hasn't been under siege; he's 22nd in the League with a .920 save percentage. However, that wasn't the case against the Sharks, who outshot the Canucks 36-19 and had a 79-23 advantage in shot attempts. "We come in here and play probably two of the worst periods of the year and [Miller] shuts the door and keeps us in it," center Nick Bonino, another newcomer playing a key role, said after scoring his seventh goal of the season. The Canucks may shake up their forward lines after recalling wing Niklas Jensen from Utica of the American Hockey League Friday; Iain MacIntyre of the Vancouver Sun reported that top-line right wing Radim Vrbata, who left the San Jose game but was able to return, has a lower-body injury.

Kings team scope: Los Angeles is struggling to score. The Kings are averaging fewer than two goals a game during a six-game stretch that has seen them go 1-3-2. The early-season scoring for "That '70s Line" has dried up, with Jeff Carter's scoring drought hitting six games in a 2-1 shootout loss to the New York Islanders on Thursday, Tyler Toffoli is without a goal in three games and Tanner Pearson is pointless in six games after he had nine points in his first eight games. But it was linemates Anze Kopitar and Marian Gaborik who were singled out somewhat by coach Darryl Sutter after the loss to the Islanders. "I don't think Gabby and Kopi generated very much tonight," Sutter said. Neither has a power play that has failed to score in five of the past six, but the bigger concern against the Canucks may be defensive depth after Robyn Regehr left practice early Friday with an undisclosed injury. General manager Dean Lombardi said he's "questionable" for Saturday, according to the Los Angeles Times. With Slava Voynov still suspended, the Kings are short on spare defensemen and salary-cap room for a replacement call-up. Jon Rosen of lakingsinsider.com reports that according to senior vice president and director of hockey operations Jeff Solomon, the Kings do not have the cap room to call up a replacement if Regehr can't play. They expect to get forward Justin Williams back after he missed the game against the game against the Islanders due to a cut on his eyelid that required stitches. Williams skated at practice Friday.

I'm going to nominate you for Kelly Hrudey's job when he retires! :)

my previous post isn't my report, it is a canuck report, i just copy and paste for each game.
sometimes i add my own comments, but i didn't today, and i keep that separate from the canuck
report.
