The way things were working last night in the last half of the game, I don't think I would change anything. Horvat is potentionally
the Canucks next big star. He was good in that game against Colorado and he is going to get a lot better
i certainly agree with you about horvat, but when the team is going so good, all lines are playing well,
and the wins are coming, a coach must be careful about pulling a player out of the lineup from a line
that is working well. he will figure it out, he will be fair, and he will make sure all the players
who are part of their success right now, don't get hauled out of the lineup when they are playing well.
bo horvat is the one player who would understand that, and he can deal with it, he is so young, and he
has another 8 games to play before they have to decide if he is staying or not, so desjardin can pick
and choose the right games for him to play in.
horvat right now isn't a big time goal scorer, he is a responsible player, a strong kid for his age, and
he can be trusted any time to play good on the defensive side of the puck.
if the team was stumbling, can't score goals, and was desperate for help, that would be different.
if, over the next 8 games he keeps getting better, and can prove to the coach he should replace a player,
then desjardin can do that, but at this time i don't see any player on the team right now, who should
come out of the lineup for him to take their place.
it worked well because burrows was out on suspension, but he will be back tomorrow, so as i think about
each line, i can't pick a player to take out of the lineup, not one.
don't fool around with something that is going very well right now.
Anaheim is going to lose (on one of those given days when anything can happen) Canucks are the best candidate right now who can deliver on that.
Being at the top of the league didn't prevent Edmonton from winning the cup 4 times in the 80s
My theory is you get to the top early and stay there so you have a cushion if the going gets tough or there are key injuries later on.
Have a good day, Talloola.
i thought you would remember the problems canucks had when they stayed on top for so long, hadno momentum
going into the playoffs, whereas other teams who had to keep playing their best to get in the playoffs,
or keep their playoff spot, played better. canucks cruised along winning, winning, and lost their
ability to 'fight' hard, and 'work' hard, iremember they winning games where they weren't even playing
their best, not a good recipe for playoffs.
to compare any team in todays game to 'that' edmonton team is ludicrous, hasn't been a team like that since,
and in todays hockey even that team would not do what they did then, as todays game is so much different,
just listen to gretzky talk about todays game, and he will convince you.
we have much different views of what we like to see, will have to agree to disagree, nothing wrong
with that.
