That's true but I believe you are ignoring the "money aspect".

That was probably it, what we were discussing was fairly recent, but we are just a couple of old codgers whose faculties are failing.

I don't believe, and haven't said that the presidents' cup is more important.
I have said that the two cups are completely separate, and comparing one to
the other, for me doesn't make sense.
They won the presidents' cup, showed many good qualities, only one team can do
that out of 32, and gives all of the home ice advantage, and shouldn't be
spat upon.,it is not easy to win, then the season is OVER

.

Good post and I agree with 99% of what you say. Last I heard there were 30 teams in the N.H.L.

You think I'm gonna jynx LA by making a bet? Forget it, ain't gonna happen.

Gerry, I've watched you denigrate Americans for years, I can't recall one time you said a good thing about Americans. Finally a week ago we reached the point where we thought one Canadian team had a chance to win the Stanley Cup. Now it does look like L.A. might take it away from them. From your post I interpret it to mean you are rooting for L.A. (last I checked a map, an American team) Is that being a little (lot) hypocritical or what?

Ah, Gerry is just being Gerry.................not sure what would make him happy!

Wouldn't it be great if the Canucks won the next four games. I don't know if it would make gerry happy, but it might shut him up...;-)

I would be happier than hell if Vancouver proved me wrong and went all the way. Unfortunately, from past experience, I may as well hope that Calgary or Toronto wins the cup.

I know, I know, Toronto and Calgary can't even make it into the playoffs, big deal. Vancouver makes it into the playoffs and has had less success at winning the cup than either of them has.

I've been stating what I feel is the truth. Vancouver is not gonna make it. Have you seen me say "Go LA"? No, I've "predicted" that Vancouver would, once again, get their asses kicked. So far, they have proven me right.

Here is some "other news" that might give hope. Daniel will be in LA to help the team in the next game.

Sounds good but if he's not 100% he could be a detriment! On second thought perhaps they should have had him in last game just to play a couple of shifts to get a goal, like on the power plays.

Vinault is leaving the decision up to him. Daniel thought he was ready two days ago when he had a practice with the team. He was to have another good practice today.

Another practice in the morning and he will be as ready as he is going to get.

Yes, I just heard vineault talking about daniel, it is out of vineault's hands, a medical decision, but
if daniel decides he wants to play irrespective, he will say what he wants to say to make sure he
plays, sure hope he is 100%, not worth it to play, if he shouldn't, but at the end of it all, it is
the players decision.
Lots of them lie, to make sure they play, no one can control that.

Just another sign of how crazy things have become in organized sports.....................Is there absolutely nothing (including a man's life) more important than winning? It's gotten to be a sickness! And a GREEDY one at that!

Brown's hit on Sedin would've kept Crosby out for 2 or 3 years. Sometimes you gotta suck it up like the old days and get on with it.

Yep, that looked pretty formidable, I would guess on the scale of savage hits that would rate a 7 or an 8, but I'm not a connoiseur in that department, especially as it happened so fast. Hank is one tough customer!

&%#@&^$* Rangers won!

I think the hit on Daniel was meant to take him out of the playoffs, just like Brown's hit on Hank was meant to take him out and it was no accident either. I hate the direction the league is taking. Whether it is the owners or the coaches, these a$$holes should realise that people come to games to see the stars playing, and that generates money for all the teams.

That's what #1 seeds are supposed to do. I know its an unfamiliar concept on the left coast ....

If you want to fully understand hockey I suggest you read Talloola's enlightening posts! I suggest you may have missed several where she has stated that the talent and ability level between most N.H.L. teams is so close................I'd go as far as to say within one or two percent. Add to that, strange phenomena, like inperfections in the boards and pretty well any result is possible. Even Columbus was laying a thumping on the big teams at the end of the season.

Contrary to what all the thinking heads think, I still think the Canucks can get past this if they just concentrate on one game at a time. During the regular season they've managed to win 8 and 9 straight against various opponents. At least by now they are well aware of all L.A.'s little idiosyncracies................................GO CANUCKS GO, Just 16 more wins!

We all know who makes excuses. I understand hockey and fully understand that regardless how 'close' every team is, if a #1 seed loses particularly in the 1st round, no matter how you spin it, is called a choke.
_______________________________________________________________________________
nope, its called 'parity', which was apparant all season, but the more games that
are played, the harder it is for the lower teams to catch up to the higher teams,
which gives an illusion that team #8 is much worse than team #1.

In the playoffs they all start out with 'zero' games won, and with only 16 teams
and so few games to play, the 'parity' really shows up.

choking is only if you are standing over a 2 ft. putt, and miss it.
