Just diversity to MY opinion.

Watching hockey until my eyeballs are red...LOL! Was away house-sitting where the folks don't have internet..........it was like being deprived of oxygen.:lol:I think you might be on to something. Was beginning to wonder where you got to.
Sorry, Petros............I simply don't see your point here. Are they the Canucks or are they the Vancouver Canucks?
I've been a Canucks supporter since 1972. In those 40 years I've learned that the play-offs are a depressing time of year. I have no hope left to offer.
No use jumping off the pier until the tide comes in.
Teams are inseparable from the city/province or state they play in.Sorry, Petros............I simply don't see your point here.
I still don't blame so-called 'Canucks' fans for the riot........sure there were some of them there but there were also hundreds who watched the game and went home. And again, the team didn't cause the riots! I have often thought since then that even had the Canucks won the game, the riots could well have happened. Just saying.
Just about as depressing as when the Riders fail to live up to my expectations.
Oh right, Petros..............the riot was all the fault of the team!
What I really can't understand, talloola, is why the Canucks are so hated by so many Canadians???? Where the heck did they ever earn that much hatred?? It really stunned me when I heard a survey saying that most Canadians would rather see a US team win the Cup rather than the Canucks.
You are missing an important point, perhaps the loss wasn't from failure to perform, maybe the winner got a lucky bounce off the boards! Surely you've heard of teams winning who "didn't deserve to win", can just as easily work the other way!
all of the teams in the nhl have played hockey since they were kids, they have learned how to win and

team 1040 broadcast crew are in l.a. right now, and have been since the last game, and they mentioned
something rather interesting.
they said that on the jumbo tron in the rink, before the game started, the l.a. people had found
picures of certain canuck players, pictures that made them look 'less' than their best.
eg. hanrik sedin looking like he was pouting, and others such pictures, then they flash them over and
over to the fans, while the teams are warming up and getting ready.
i'm sure we would never see such pictures of any player in any canadian rink, under the same
circumstances.
pretty tacky, no class at all, but of course down there, and in other places in the u.s. they are
just babies at this game, and haven't really figured it out yet, so they resort to national enquirer
tactics.
some day they will 'get it'., but on the other hand, when it comes to 'fans', I guess they think that
is cool, and funny, at least all the children would.
There are always 'lucky' bounces and bad and good calls that go both ways. The loser will tend to point at the ones that go against them as the 'reason' why they failed. With all things being equaled, the better team is expected to win most of the games against a lesser opponent. When that doesn't happen either the lower team outperforms its stature (happens) and/or the higher team underperforms. Underperforming is called choking. So the question is are the LA Kings world beaters (not in my book) or are the Canucks chokers?
The real discussion is would there be less likely to be a riot if the Canucks lose in LA in game 4 or 6 than if they lose in Vancouver in game 5 or 7?
No sense in getting hung up on semantics especially slang ones. They lost 3 in a row, not good, not the end of the fricken world. The seeds don't mean as much as you'd like to make out. Canucks and Kings reg. season schedules are very different, Canucks games were mainly against poor performing N.W. division, Kings games were mainly against higher performing Pacific Division. There is just too many ingredients to put much stock in the "seeds". Phoenix seeded third! Are they a better team than L.A.?
To put things in context about 150 people have been charged with the riot. From a population of close to a million people, the lowest 150 on the I.Q. chart, would hardly reach "room temperature", so there you have it.

Good point about the unbalanced schedule. Probably does distort the seeding. Particularly rewarding division winners with preferencial seeding.
Those are the ones they caught right? The smarter ones are still on the loose?

Game 4 might be the last for Vancouver and all the players and coaches can take their share of blame if that's the result. One guy who I think has taken too much fall most of his career is Henrik Sedin.
There are all the jokes about Sedin Sisters etal but I'd like to know anyone in this league that's as strong on the puck as he is. When he goes into a corner and has a chance to get his stick anywhere near the puck he's coming out with it 99% of the time, and usually with someone draped over him who can't do a thing about it. The fact he doesn't fight is probably good for the health of others because if he did he'd probably kick the crap out most.

The key to not being disappointed is to be a team supporter and put being a "fan" (short for fanatic) to the side.

During the Bruins game the other night, fans had photos of Obama with the words 'Hope' written large and at the bottom, 'you are pulled.' Didn't really get it (yeah I can be soooo slow at times) until the announcers explained they were aimed at Tim Thomas.

I'm sure the players and management don't listen to sports shows and don't read sports columnist articles, and that is the smart thing to do.
