my son's prediction for the playoffs

I think the Chicago game will be a lot closer than your son thinks. Calgary is not playing well right now and they have a lot of key injuries. That being said, the playoffs are a whole different beast so who knows for sure?

Calgary in 4 over Detroit? No way. Could they beat Detroit? Sure they could, but there is no way that it would happen in 4 games.;-)

Vancouver/Calgary? I wouldn't have any idea.

I don't think that Boston will beat Pittsburgh(as I think Pittsburgh will win the East), so the finals would be Pittsburgh vs Calgary in your son's final scenario. If so, I would predict Pittsburgh to win in either 6 or 7 hard-fought games.

Looks like Malkin won the Art Ross trophy!

Ovechkin got a goal and an assist today, but Malkin got a goal. Malkin won by 3 points. Good race.

Seriously, how far can the Canucks go? Can they get past the first round? They are going to have to score some goals at some point. One goal today against the bottom team in the league....and that goal was almost scored for them.

I don't worry at all about vancouver scoring goals, I watched the first period today
in a mall in Coquitlam, and they fired a zillion shots on colorado, just unlucky and
the goalie was sharp. If we weren't getting shots I would be concerned, sometimes
it just goes that way.

I think chicago will get rid of calgary very quickly.
We don't know who we play till st. louis either wins or loses tomorrow.
st. louis or columbus

OK, now it is settled, we will play St. Louis, as they beat Colorado today 1-0
they couldn't score any more goals against them than we did.
Don't know the schedule yet, but someone said canucks don't play till Thursday.

That's about as good as we could wish for talloola. Let the other brutes beat each other up so who ever the Canucks have to face next will be pretty well tuckered.:lol:

In my opinion, after watching all the teams, and evaluating them in the last
part of the schedule, when everyone is pushing for playoffs, and peaking, whoever wins their playoffs in the first round, or any round, 'nothing' will
be considered an 'upset', or 'expected'.
All the teams are strong, and the numbers from one to eight, could be reversed, or
one could put all the names in a box, shake it up, and pick them out randomly, and
it wouldn't matter to me, how they matched up, anyone could win.

That's good, so then malkin wins the art ross, and ovetchkin wins the richard trophies, better than one player winning both. Besides if Ovetchkin won them
both, he would literally burst with excitement, he is a 'little over the top', in
the excitement department.

The Nucks are going to have a tough time getting by St Louis. They have been one of the better teams in the conference in the last half of the season and Vancouver still haven't shown they can score enough to go deep. But it is the playoffs and anything can happen.

This playoff season could prove to be different, because of all the 'young' players this year, but as a rule in the past, the
playoffs are usually low scoring games, and a good responsible defense comes
to the forefront and defeats teams, who have a run and gun mentality.
Even with the talent detroit has had recently, it is their total defensive play
that has won their games for them, with their good scorers putting the puck
in the net enough times to win the games.
This year Detroit is very shaky in goal, so that could be their downfall in this
playoffs.
The old edmonton oilers, (gretzky era), were the opposite to this theory, but
they also let in lots of goals, so games would be 7-6 type of games, but they
didn't care, they just kept outscoring the opposition.
