Detroit won the first game against Anaheim, good game.

Even though Detroit won, they now know that Anaheim is a totally different opponent than Columbus. If they falter, Anaheim will pounce. I think Anaheim might have been able to win if they hadn't given Detroit so many shot in the 3rd period(18) as they had them at a fairly low shot-count before that.

Boston won 4-1, rather handily actually. If they continue to play like that, it will be a quick series.

ETA: Off-topic. I got your PM talloola, but I won't be able to check anything out until tomorrow(as I have to go to work shortly).

It was interesting and eyeopening today listening Dave Tomlinson on team 1040.
He talked about the poor defensive play of the second line, and how Dimitra and
Sundin just don't do thier jobs on the defensive side of the puck. He also mentioned how two goals were caused by their absence, and also mentioned
that 'when' we get to chicago and Quenville has home team 'line change' option,
that he will burn us playing his strength against that line.
I know Dimitra had a goal, and sundin an assist on that goal, but the rest of their
game was a defensive liability, so not sure how vineault can fix that problem. He
can bring it to their attention which I'm sure he has on many occasions, but it
remains that Dimitra will not go into the dirty areas, avoids being hit, and sundin
can't keep up to do his back checking, and if he falls down, as he did at one point
last night, it takes him too long to recover, and by the time he got up the play
was almost at the other end of the ice.
Perhaps canucks can do it, in spite of them.

Yep, I figure acquiring Sundin was a mistake right from the get go. Same thing happened with Mogilny a few years back, of course that's when Iron Mike was at the helm- he was enough to put anyone off their play. Messier was another one who didn't do much for the Canucks.

Good day JLM, the 1994 team was a force to be feared, if we make it to the last game this time it will be poorly of the talent today, 15 years later we may get the cup.

Yep, team of '94 was good, but they had lots of lucky breaks in those playoffs, down 3/1 at one point, won several O.T.games, actually down 3/1 twice.

I guess sundin has some power against the opposition, by 'just' being there, as he
is so big, and when in the offensive zone, is helpful, but that is where it ends.
Dimitra is also effective in the offensive zone, if he is given a good pass, he can
score, but so can most nhl players when given a good pass. He can also give out
a good pass, but he needs time and space, and there isn't much of that in the
playoffs.
I guess things can't be perfect, and I imagine most teams have players
who they 'whine' about too.
I would imagine Dimitra will be back for one more year, as he is signed for
next year, but Sundin isn't, and hopefully they don't re sign him at all, and
if he is wise he will make that decision himself.
If Gillis keeps his original offer, and Sundin comes back, he will make 10 million, and at this point in time, that is ludicrous, and I'm sure sundin knows
he isn't worth 10 million, or even 2 million.
We will have Cody Hodsgson next season, and there will be some good free
agents out there too, we don't need Sundin.

I hated messier and keenan being part of our canucks, and so glad when they left,
I don't even like keenan being in our division.

OK, on with the playoffs.

GO CANUCKS GO

Washington beat Pittsburgh 3-2. Close game, could have went either way.

Vancouver is ahead 2-0 with about 1:22 left in the 1st period. Two PP goals.

Well,it didn't take them very many minutes to put Chicago right back on their heels, seems the Canucks (so far) have learned the lessons from game one a little better, but you have to remember the admonishment of old Yogi stands until minute 60. (Oops I forgot, he was baseball) LOL

He may have been in baseball, but it goes for hockey as well.;-) I am sure the New Jersey Devils are well aware of that fact since they choked in game 7.8O

Yeah, and now it's 2-2. I must say that even though Vancouver got a PP because of this rule that I wish they would get rid of that "delaying game-puck over glass" penalty. What an idiotic way to get a PP. How exactly does it speed up the game(which was the reasoning for them introducing this inane rule in the first place)?

3-2 for Chicago at the end of the 2nd period. Let's see. Vancouver blows a 2-0 lead, has only 11 shots through 2 periods, and gives up a short-handed goal. Do they even want to win this game?8O:roll:

Had a feeling this might happen.. 3 to 2 Chicago.. Canucks need to wake up with a lead.. Luongo cannot do it all.. A impossible save in the second but man he can't be everywhere..

Lets hope the pick it up in the 3rd..

No kidding, I just dug my defibulator out of the closet........:lol:
