maybe he won't sign with buffalo either, perhaps he is waiting for july 1, to be
a real free agent, and play the open market, as brian raflaski retired from detroit
and they will be needing to replace him, and erhoff could be the guy for them.
And, perhaps other teams will come forward then as well, and start competing for him,
which is exactly what he would want, more $$$$$$$$$$ that way.
There are not many defensemen out there, on the open market at his level, and he knows that.
He is after the money.
personally I would take the 4.5 mil per yr that canucks would have paid him, to stay somewhere
familiar, a classy organization, a team that can compete to win, as I could live on 4.5 just
fine, and wouldn't want the hassle of moving for the extra 1/2 or even 1 million.
jeesh once you are making over 4 mil per year, another mil doesn't change much.
some say it is 'just' a business and nothing more, and they should go after every
dollar they can, BUT, just look at detroit, they have players who took slightly
less to 'stay' together, and it does make a difference, it bonds teams together,
makes them realize they depend on each other to succeed, and they respect each
other for doing so, which creates more desire to win together.
