I think their problems are mental more than physical and a lot of it can be attributed to Rome getting the heave- ho for four games. It was right after that they fell apart.

And you know what... here in Boston we say it was right after the Horton hit when the B's came to life.

So it seems like both camps are in agreement.

Yeah, stuff like that can make a huge difference, that seemed to wake up the team, and helped get Marchand's focus on what he was supposed to do. Which he did admirably, the little )*(^. At least he's a relatively local guy (for you, go up I95 until it ends, turn right, drive 5 hours, and you're there).

I95 ends? I thought it started in Florida and went on forever!

that is overplayed, only a small part of the big picture. When mason raymond was scrunched after he
was can opened, and ended up with a completely broken vertebrae, also a situation where the team
can re act, doesn't mean much again in the big picture, I explained exactly 'all' the ingredients
which made the canucks sag, nothing to do with horton hit, but that is a neat emotional reaction
by many fans, but i'm afraid it's the poor play of luongo in boston, and the 'no show' of the
power play and the sedins, that tells the story for me, we needed more goals, and our goalie needed
to stop more pucks, and more healthy bodies, not the huge movie of the week many are touting.

Could that have something to do with his heritage? (Just joking, OF COURSE):lol::lol:

of course lol

I lost respect for Ehrhoff in the Sharks series when Ben Eager was standing over and chirping at Luongo. Ehrhoff saw what was happening but skated away pretending he didn't know. In other words, he was too chicken shyt to back up his goalie. There were some similar situations in the Bruins series. I say good riddance.

I think erhoff was probably blown away by gillis's stand on this contract situation. There is no way
erhoff should be paid more than hamhuis or bieksa, if they wanted to pay him a very similar amount I
wouldn't mind if he stayed, he does have talent, but certainly isn't the best defensmen canucks have,
but obviously he thinks he is, I do think he should consider that the reason for his 50 points has
much to do with 'the' team he was playing on, he had lots of power play time, and their power play
was excellent, which allows for those points, not 'all' his doing.

Friday is the big day, haven't heard yet if another team has asked for the right to negotiate with
him before that, so it is just a waiting game now.

Canucks aren't short on defensemen, they will be fine without him, and I know gillis will bring in
any player he thinks will fit into his system, and still stay within the cap space they have allowed
themselves, I thoroughly trust his judgement, he's the boss, and what i've seen him do to this point
has made the team much more competetive than ever before, so i'm sure he will continue to do upgrade
this team.

Yah, Schweinehund!

bless you

He has gone to the New York Islanders.

Oh thats interesting, hadn't heard that. He won't necessarily stay there unless he agrees
to whatever they offer him, he can still walk away on friday.

if he stays he will be with michael grabner next season. islanders have the beginnings of
a very good team, lots of good young players.

Did they say what canucks received in compensation.

They traded his rights for a 4th rounder.

thats good, better than just waiting till friday, then they would get nothing.

there are a few teams out there, who are having trouble reaching the bottom
of the cap, seems unbelievable, but it is true.

they sometimes will overpay for free agents just to bring themselves up
to the level they must reach.

I just read that islanders are about 27 mil below the cap floor, so I would imagine
they will offer erhoff something inflated.

hence, brian campbell, the other day was traded to florida, taking with him
a 7 mil per season contract, and that helped bring florida up toward the
bottom of the cap, chicago received a player making about 3 mil, giving
them a bit of cap space they needed.

Erhof's rights have now been traded to buffalo, as he refused to sign a contract with the islanders.

the islanders offered him 5 mil per season for 6 years.

Spoilt brat!

maybe he won't sign with buffalo either, perhaps he is waiting for july 1, to be
a real free agent, and play the open market, as brian raflaski retired from detroit
and they will be needing to replace him, and erhoff could be the guy for them.

And, perhaps other teams will come forward then as well, and start competing for him,
which is exactly what he would want, more $$$$$$$$$$ that way.
There are not many defensemen out there, on the open market at his level, and he knows that.

He is after the money.

personally I would take the 4.5 mil per yr that canucks would have paid him, to stay somewhere
familiar, a classy organization, a team that can compete to win, as I could live on 4.5 just
fine, and wouldn't want the hassle of moving for the extra 1/2 or even 1 million.

jeesh once you are making over 4 mil per year, another mil doesn't change much.

some say it is 'just' a business and nothing more, and they should go after every
dollar they can, BUT, just look at detroit, they have players who took slightly
less to 'stay' together, and it does make a difference, it bonds teams together,
makes them realize they depend on each other to succeed, and they respect each
other for doing so, which creates more desire to win together.

Yep, there's more to life than money, I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of the Canucks are glad to see the tail end of him. Shades of Eric Lindross!

ehrhoff has signed with buffalo, $40 million over ten years, doesn't that work out to 4 mil
per year, and he was offered over 4 mil per season by the canucks, and i'm sure it was not 10 years,( gillis
won't make another mistake like that).

probably 5 years, like bieksa.

I guess it is front loaded, and he will probably receive (i'm guessing now) 6 first year, then
maybe 5 the next year, then it will gradually decrease as the years go by.

and ocean, and clean air and good water, oh well, he can spend his spare time counting his money.

lol

oh boy, I had it way off, hold your breath, 'he is getting 10 million first year then 8 million second
year, then it will trail off thru the 7 years remaining.
