By the brilliant Richard Littlejohn in his brilliant twice-weekly Daily Mail column:

ISRAEL'S INVASION OF GAZA: IT'S DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN

By Richard Littlejohn
22 July 2014
Daily Mail

Most of the commentary on the latest flare-up in Gaza could be taken from a Randy Newman song which begins: ‘I have nothing left to say, but I’m gonna say it anyway.’

That’s why I haven’t troubled the scorers so far. Yesterday, I dug out a column I wrote about the war between Hezbollah and Israel almost exactly eight years ago to the day.

‘Hezbollah has started a war it knows it can’t win in the certain knowledge that there will be civilian casualties. Its stated aim is to kill as many Israelis as possible and if innocent Lebanese get caught in the crossfire, tough.

‘These fanatics have little or no regard for human life. Their tactic is to hide among civilians; to use terrified women and children as human shields; to deploy school playgrounds as rocket launch sites; hotels and apartment blocks as command centres; homes as weapons dumps; mosques as air-raid shelters.’

For Hezbollah, read Hamas.

I also wrote in August 2006:

‘Then there’s the Palestinian question. Again, even though Israel has ceded territory in pursuit of peace, terror attacks and kidnappings on Israeli soil have continued.

‘There’s talk about dusting off the old “road map”. Israel accepts there will have to be a two-state solution, but the only “road map” of the Middle East its enemies will accept is one without Israel on it at all.’

You can’t negotiate peace with nihilists.

That column was headlined: ‘The civilian casualties are awful, but Israel is fighting for its existence.’

I have nothing left to say...

So you haven't heard the Shin Bet version then have you?f

Really?.. This version will justify, (sorry, justify isn't the right word here) provide unyielding support; to the practice of pushing children into areas that are advertised to be bombed?

Please forward the info; it will be interesting to say the very least

Still buying the propaganda and still sticking by the Nutlessyahud version that defies his own security agencies observations and stances?

UN Chief: 'Israel Could Be Guilty Of War Crimes' ....Lol, "could be guilty". More like "definitely guilty"

‘I would fire rockets at Israel,’ tweets British MP

A British member of parliament was criticized Wednesday for tweeting that he would fire rockets at Israel if he lived in Palestinian territory.

“The big question is - if I lived in Gaza would I fire a rocket? - probably yes,” Liberal Democrat member of parliament David Ward tweeted.

Probably because their idea of defending themselves is using white phosphorous on children

Yeah...I saw the UN rep crying about 100 dead children.....meaning, of course 100 dead aged less than 18.

Funny that......the median age in Gaza is 15 years. There are 600 plus dead now in Gaza.

Even if we ignore the fact that some of the "children" killed would be militants (15, 16, 17 year old boys) the death of "children" is extremely disproportionate. Were the IDF seriously targeting civilians, or even ignoring civilian casualties, the death rate of "children" would be AT LEAST three times what it is now.

Israel is behaving MORE responsibly that any military in combat at any time in history, and they are defending themselves.

Yet it is not enough.

All you people REALLY want is stacks of dead Jews.

Period.

It's a 2-way street..
That is when both parties get something out of the deal. So far the deal since 1947 is pretty much one sided.

Arguing that because Palestine has a less effective (military) presence is therefore the victim is a bizarre position..
Israel can't even control a population they have had on 'reservations' for almost 70 years. Obviously their form of rule is not working. When Israel says it is withdrawing troops from Gaza will they be counting the ones in body bags? Now that they have committed to a ground war they can't quit early without losing as much face as the US did over Crimea. Lesson, if you eesist you will eventually win. That takes a common will with the people, it is not the size of the gun. Gaza has that after having many of it's people die, a lot who no part in the conflict. Israel counts that after so many civilian deaths (as they are all civilian in Gaza) peace will be acceptable under any terms. They don't realize that their own people will have a number that they will see as 'too many' and then the IDF and Co. will lose support and the original 'right to return' will be implemented and an Arab Government will be installed and obviously the military aspect of Israel will be 'reduced' and the reconstruction fees first tap the ones that voted 'Yes" (plus the UK) can fork over a lot of money and then the states that were involved after that will also be tapped, all run by the new Government. Religious freedom really is free in that it cost almost nothing to practice, anywhere not just Israel.

I believe that it is also fair to say that blaming the Israelis for the toll on the civilian population has only limited justification as Hamas is specifically immersing themselves among the civilians and engaging their own aggressions..
It is your comments like this that is the catalyst for my reply. You have to be a troll of some sort of bottom-feeder to even come up with this. If you are this void of knowledge of the area you have a lot of homework to do. Let`s say you metal facilities are a bit more devious that `lack of valid information`.
By definition by Israel Hamas is any citizen of Gaza that does any task that helps the men that are named in local Communities as the elected spokesperson`. That put an Israeli bullseye on them just for that alone. That means they can be targeted anyplace-anytime and if it is at home and the rest of the families dies then it is his fault for being a `terrorist`

Like I have said before, maybe the time has come to get both parties out in the open, away from the civilian population, and get them fight it out and be done with it (at least for some time).
Take away Israel`s armor and have them invade Gaza on foot with just stones to throw.
Could you call yourself a good parent and allow your child to march is such a useless cause

Considering extermination of all Arabs in the whole Middle East is the goal of Israel I`m not sure defense is the best term. No need for subs and nuclear weapons, Gaza is easy to find. Enemies in the mind are best fought there.

Blah, blah, blah... I can't be bothered with responding in kind to your plethora of excuses and moaning. Nothing but whining and excuses on the issue of Hamas deliberately putting kids front and center, in harms way.

... And that is all that this issue is to me at this point... I couldn't care less about who owns what, or whether Timmy got a bigger piece of cake than Tommy... This, to me is solely about the obligation that a society has towards protecting their children

As far as the ridiculous comment about 'taking away Israels armor ' - I suppose that there is no form of logic to an ideologue such as yourself that Hamas acquire it's own armor?

They wanna fight, then roll up your sleeves and get to it, but stop the incessant bitching that life ain't fair 'cause they want to take on a fight in which the cards are stacked way against them.

It also comes under International Law as being called a `double tap`. You first create some causalities (fake is the norm) and then when rescue comes you kill them also. That is a war crime no matter where you are. The last big one was at a University in Syria, a small missile creates some causalities and then 10 minutes later the same spot is hit with another missile but 2x as big as the first one. It is probably still on youtube and the only one in that area capable of doing that is Israel.
Targeting families of Hamas members means love for family will keep the most qualified when their ranks should be bankers and lawyers and doctors and teachers. How much respect should I give to somebody who demands all those things for itself but denies the same rights to those in Gaza in the extreme and the rest of the world to a degree or their would be no need for dual citizenship. Most would call it being a Traitor but then lying is part of the overall package. Too bad the lies are so poorly constructed and the events are still fresh in everyone`s mind. 2114 will be when this passes as the truth and there is no dispute. Till then I don`t mind pointing out the weak links.

Careful what you wish for. It's entirely possible. Israel hasn't done well in making friends among the neighbours

Believe me, I wish for nothing that will result in heavier causalities of innocents... And to restate for the usual ideological-driven suspects; I don't give a rats azz what the political beef is on this issue... The deliberate and politically motivated actions that result in maiming and killing kids is my beef.

In doing this, a political body has essentially transformed some child's life into nothing more than a commodity... I can't find the words to even come close to expressing the disgust I feel
