An immigrant would be forced to wash dishes if his chosen profession was learned in his/her original country and was unable or unwilling to be evaluated.

If you learn a profession here (Canada) then you don't have to be re-trained or take an equivalency test. Mind you, this is usually reserved for Doctors, Engineers, and the like.

Toast, have you checked out the demand levels for your choosen field?

This website could help you learn what kind of salary to expect. What the demand is for that job. And such. I hope it helps.

I think you'll like Canada. If you like change you'll do fine.

The only thing that you might find mildly annoying is that you may have to answer alot of questions about your homeland. If you and I were talking I'd be asking you hundreds of questions. And I'd want to see pictures. I'm a rather curious person. I love hearing people talk about their homes.

This is why I like living in Surrey. Surrey has so many immigrants it's like travelling the world just walking down the street. Most are happy to talk about their home land. Most are extremely friendly.

I am not that rich , marryclare . I am speaking about immigrants in general , not just myself . I denigrate canadians who look down on their neighbours while painting a a prettier picture of themselves. Canada is perfect for refugees , not skilled immigrants.

Write me in three months toastguy , when you arrive here. Lets see whos telling the truth.

I know it takes about five years to get US citizenship after arriving. I have relatives there. And I have no visa problems in Canada . And of course , I look forward to going to the land of the free and brave. Not the land of whiners.
