Just curious how many people are against sharing their information in 92 years. Personally, I said Nunya...Nunya Fukinbuzinez

92 years from now I will be long, long dead. My children will likely be gone, by then, too. I have learned positive things about my immediate family from 19th century censees from both the UK and Canada. My information is meant for descendants as yet unborn who may very well be interested in their origins. Once I've popped my clogs, I have no need to hide my details. I'm all for them being released in the beginning of the 22nd century. No problem at all.

Not me, my rights are important. Both now and - as a matter of principle - in the future. If I want to share my personal info with my descendants, I'll write it in a diary.

Oh, well. To each his own. Personally, I have nothing to hide from posterity.

I don't know what good it will do sharing my information 92 years hence, but I don't know what harm it would do either, so I think it should be shared. It's probably not important enough to make much of a difference either way! I don't have blue prints for putting a man on Saturn! :)

But we are supposed to be giving this information for community planers in the present . How can they use this information if it is not released for 92 years , and if it is released before that why will it need to be rereleased in 92 years ?
This sounds to me like a sure fire way to keep this department alive and relevant for another 100 years .

I'm glad to fill it out. I've done lots of genealogy research over the years, and those census forms
filled out a hundred years ago, and more are very helpful and without them sometimes one can get
completely bogged down trying to find someone.
I thought about that as I filled it out, and wondered if one of my relatives a hundred years from now will
be checking me out, and wondering about me, they will find me on the census forms, with all the information
they will need.

Will they ? Or will they care if you had 1 or 6 bathrooms and that you paid x number of dollars for electricity ?

It's likely a moot point anyway. Who from the human race is actually going to be around in 2108? Right now a large percentage of the population is about 15 minutes from having a massive stroke or heart attack & the rest will succumb to cancer, diabetes, C.O.P.D. and emphysema. Greed will be the undertaker. A "skeleton" crew might survive, excuse the pun! :)

Who from the human race is actually going to be around in 2108?

In the spring of 1988, I returned to New Orleans, and as soon as I smelled the air, I knew I was home.
It was rich, almost sweet, like the scent of jasmine and roses around our old courtyard.
I walked the streets, savoring that long lost perfume.

They don't need your permission for that.

You think people would hack into your computer for census information instead of your banking info?
No.

They would not necessarily know that I am entering census info but could use that hole to access a computer.

And no, I do not do banking on the computer nor have I ever bought anything using the computer.

Just like the banking by phone I don't get the banking by computer. I use cash for everything and thanks to ATM's it's a simple process. I also pay my bill via those ATMs

And, like I said earlier, I am a job creator....

Northern Ontario,
Does anyone know of a way to get a copy of the census for that you filled on line for your own records?
It took me only about 10 minutes or so to fill out the online form, but wasted close to an hour trying to find a way to download what I had just filled out, for my records.....the only thing I got was a confirmation number to print.

You could always write it down on a piece of paper!

Northern Ontario,
I've gone almost completely paperless, over the past few years I have digitized just about every bill, receipt, document...etc
Everything is password protected on a usb stick, with a secure backup online, I can access from anywhere in the world.
Everything in PDF format from which a paper copy can be printed at any time.......
And me an old papermaker....lol

No more searching in stacks of paper for a lost receipt....

Do you actually understand the question about the 92 years? That has to do with being released to the general public. Much the same as how I could walk over to our local library and see the census data from the 1860s.

In case you weren't aware, an ATM is a computer. Most run Windows XP.

Bill payments by computer of phone is easier even than an ATM. I rarely use cash. I suppose you may be one of the guys who is standing in line ahead of me at the ATM doing 1 hours worth of business when I simply want to get $20.

As a wife of a genealogist, I ticked yes.

Well when the long form census was being curtailed under those nasty stinking rotten to the core conservatives , the main reason those that wanted it kept was the amount of use full information it provides to business and government in planning . Is business not part of the general public ?

Businesses can access the aggregate data that StatsCan collects. A business cannot look at your particular census form.

Surely you're not that clueless.
