Mine was delivered yesterday evening by some guy not associated with the Post Office at all - the long form. From all I heard today, there were a lot of fourth residences in my li'l neighbourhood. No place for income - but that near $3000/yr cost for hydro in a little place heated by gas for $1350 for the year may get some notice if they read like they claim....

I do not understand why people complain so much about filling out the census forms. If you get a short form consider yourself fortunate. If not for Christ's sake, suck it up and fill the friggin thing out. My partner worked for Stats Canada and they just laugh at some of the asinine things people do. The census numbers are useful to planners. Bringing back the long form census is the only intelligent thing I expect Trudeau to do during his time in office.

It was a stupid idea to take aim at the census. Sometimes the "New" Conservative party is ill advised by some of the Reform wing-nuts that hijacked the party for the last decade ... but no more !

Let's leave Clem, the paranoid Libertarian from Bugtussle out if the next Conservative government. All of the energy that was focussed on eliminating national census that goes back to 1871 ... utterly moronic. It is this sort of thing that got the last government fired. We need GOOD GOVERNANCE not that amateurish bullshyte.

Just chalk it up to the fact that about 10% of people will go out of their way NOT to cooperate- figure it reveals a weakness! :) Woman I know a bit at the casino keeps pulling her card out of the machine and reinserting it. I finally said to her there must a method to your madness! Oh yeah, she said, it really screws them up, up stairs. I would imagine of the $hundreds of thousands that go through that place every day, they are very concerned about her 50 cents!

Better to not fill it in at all than put in wrong answers....... eg: the question on property tax.......if it differs from what you put on your income tax....you could be audited...in deep doo doo

Mine were more work revenu related. I didn't claim UI and I declared all my revenue. So I can't see wtf they can go after me for.

If they have access to RC data, why do they need you to fill it out? I think this is a classic case of government incompetence. Department A has no access to data from department B so needs to collect the same information again.

Hubby did ours on-line. When it came to marital choices, you really had to search for "spouse was of the opposite sex" Usually it's right up there in the first 3 choices but not this time. It was closer to the bottom and the list was long LOL It was crazy!!

Nevertheless, it's done.

Not surprising Dixie............... a lot of the programming on CBC radio really makes me wonder if heterosexuals are the Alpha audience!

They are the primary complainers to the Canadian broadcast standards it seems.

CRA data is not available to to all other gov. departments...Until my wife turned 60 and started receiving CPP I had to fill in a special combined income form by hand every year for my OAS because they couldn't get access to her income tax return until then.
Strange ain't it? all those regulations we never hear about???

Law says you have to fill it out ... not be truthful (although there is no reason to not be). I can't see why you would need to do research for answering the questions though.

This is angstrom, you are talking about. He needs to "research" how to pull his zippier down everytime he takes a piss.

and what would ones sexuality have to do with anything?
