This hasn't ended in part because everyone frets about conflict.

Turn 'em loose in the school yard and let them settle this in the manner that they demand, at least in the way that the Palestine talking heads seem to go on about

One might also expect that the Israelis might reap all that they've sown relative to the food, fuel, medical supplies, construction of homes, roads, water, etc that they've contributed to the Palestinians in that area over the years.

Somehow, methinks that this will be conveniently forgotten when the time comes

ONCE AGAIN, ISRAEL IS DEFEATED
TUESDAY, JULY 15, 2014 AT 1:58PM GILAD ATZMON
iron-domeBy Gilad Atzmon

As the Israeli Cabinet announced earlier today that it accepted the Egyptian cease-fire offer, Palestinian freedom fighters in Gaza continued firing rockets targeting the whole of Israel.

The situation is clear. Israel is desperate for a break in the violence. In spite of its endless ‘bravado,’ and military might, Israel lacks the military capacity and the courage to encounter Palestinian resistance on the ground. The Israeli elite recognizes that the military can’t resolve the problem, if anything, its extensive use would diminish Israeli manoeuvrability on the international front.

Hamas, on the other hand, has won its biggest military, political and ideological victory to date - it has managed to deliver some elementary messages to all of Israeli society:

You are living on our Palestinian stolen land, our Right to Return is elementary and is not negotiable. You Israelis do not belong here, you never did, and you had better consider your options immediately.

Hamas has also managed to dismantle the BDS / Jewish Lefty’s desperate and blatantly deceitful attempt to present the conflict as an issue over the ‘1967 occupation.’ The range and targets of Palestinian missiles deliver a clear message to both Israelis and their controlled opposition agents within the Left. Palestine is a stretch of land between the river and the sea. In other words, no more empty talk on ‘conflict resolutions.’ It is either Israel or Palestine. And today it seems Palestine it will be.

Hamas’ strategy in the last week has displayed a rare genius in the method it used to capitalise on Israel’s superior technology and the Iron Dome in particular. What could be smarter or more ethical than putting Israel under a constant barrage of rockets, delivering your essential message with missiles, yet knowing that no one will be hurt?

In the past week Hamas has managed to utilise Israeli technology and to integrate Israeli engineering into its operational tactics. This is a unique significant tactical achievement that proves that the Palestinian leadership in Gaza is significantly more sophisticated than their counterparts in Jerusalem

This is a repetition of a familiar Jewish historical and cultural pattern. By the time the Jewish elite is convinced that its domination is established, a disaster is immanent. As Israel came to believe that it had bought itself the final and ultimate technological answer to Palestinian ballistic resistance, it has been devastated to discover that it has lost the war on every possible front: militarily, technologically, politically and ethically.

You DO understand that it was Hamas that started this fight, and Hamas that is keeping it on..............

Go IDF.

When the faux Israeli are driven from Palestine and settle in your hood you will of course cower peacefully while they eat your crops and crap in your gardens because of course they claim some bloody God gave them license.

You can always rush over to Palestine and speak for yourself towards this issue. Nothing stopping you there other than laziness or cowardliness.

... Stand up to Harper on this and make your voice heard!

I can do that here in Canada and I do. The first order of business for a Canadian is house cleaning. Our floors are filthy, our windows are grubby and under our sinks lives a slime mold, even the PM office is full of the contagion. Every aspect of our civil lives is tainted by our association with the evil ones. No I think I,ll save the ticket price and work to rehabilitate the infected guilty morons in Canada

Walter dosn't want to tidy up in Canada. He's content with polluted government office. I wonder what he gets out of our powerlessness in the face of corporate rule? I don't have to wonder who he applauds though.

While your efforts in thwarting the great satan (Harper) have not gone unnoticed, the results over the last 8 years are far below par.

The best possible course of action is to go directly to the epicenter of this conflict, sporting a large Maple Leaf and fight the good fight.

Actions speak far louder than mere words my friend

Did I just invent a word?
No, you just abused the English language. You turned a noun to an adjective/adverb and back to a noun with unnecessary suffixes.

Like "healthiness." You take a noun (health), change it to an adjective (healthy), then back to a noun (healthiness). What does it mean? What you started with. . . health.

Here, "coward" describes a person, and you changed it to a modifier, then back to a generic noun. The generic noun already exists.

The epicenter, Switzerland, is beautiful this time of year, I might even tour a great bank. The Maple Leaf is the star of David with one shriveled stem representing Canadian soverignty.

Wow. You really are a hater. I'll pray for you. Life is too short to hate so much.

Walter, can you feel my prayers?

I find it difficult not to sympathise with both sides of this intractable morass.

English is a partially agglutinative language (though not fully agglutinative like like Finnish, Hungarian, Estonian, Turkish, Japanese and Korean).

The word "healthiness" is an example of agglutination in English.

Will the BBC accept that Hamas wants to kill lots of Jews?

Here's the (daily) proof of Hamas's murderous intent.
(MENAHEM KAHANA/AFP/Getty Images)

A fairly typically partisan report on the Israel and Palestine crisis last night
on the BBC Ten O Clock News. The focus was entirely on the killed or injured
Palestinians, referred to exclusively as ‘civilians’; the point was made, at
the top of the report, that Hamas had killed nobody. Yes, but only because
Hamas is utterly useless: it clearly WANTS to kill lots of people, which is
why, on a daily basis, it bungs over the rockets – indiscriminately – in an
attempt to do so. The rockets which precipitated this crisis. We are enjoined
to have sympathy for the Palestinians and treat the Israelis with odium because
the former are murderous and incompetent and the latter murderous and adept. It
is an infantile sensibility.

DougS a day ago "Will the BBC accept that Hamas wants to kill lots of Jews?"
You misread the situation Rod. Those Hamas-fired rockets are a firework display sent to entertain Israeli citizens.
The (unspeakable) BBC and the UN understand that, why don't you?

Alexsandra day ago Why do some people seem to be hard of thinking on this (Not Rod, BTW)
Its a war. Hamas want the war. They must do or they would stop firing rockets indiscriminately at civilians. Firing anything is an act of war.
Part of war is that when under fire, you have to seek out and destry the enemy and their assets.
Israel has been very restrained in this and Hamas have been very good at the PR.
We should see through the PR and think what its like for Israelis to be under bombardment.

ADWa day ago I must admit I have struggled over the years to understand the fanatical obsession of the British left (Graun, Beeb) with Israel. For the most part since 1973 it has been a low-level border dispute - low-level in the sense of infrequent conflict with not many casualties on either side. Yet the amount of coverage it receives - opinion pieces almost daily on CIF at times - is staggering. Over the past forty years there have been far more intense conflicts across the world that haven't reached anything like the amount of press coverage for the lefties here, and certainly not the rabid opinions about who is right and who is wrong.
One occasional explanation I have been given is that Britain "created" the problem in the first place. You would have thought that this might have been spent after more than half a century, though of course for lefties Britain's wrongs are permanent and wholly without mitigation. But even that doesn't explain why Israel over everything else. Take the Sri Lankan civil war. This occurred because Britain imported the Tamils from India because they worked better than the locals. When the British left the locals promptly changed the law so that in order to work for the government you had to speak Singhala, and imposed various other forms of discrimination. The Tamils were left disenfranchised and began to fight for separation accordingly. The resulting conflict was very bloody, and involved many atrocities on both sides, sometimes on the same day as various Israeli attacks on Gaza. Yet the lefties screamed at israel and made no sound about the Sri Lankans. Elsewhere, the Syrian civil war has on all estimates generated more casualties in a couple of years than all Israeli wars in history.
So what is going on? Perhaps it is that the lefties see the Israelis as white Europeanesque sorts, and the Palestinians as ethnic minorities. Never mind most Israelis aren't white, and that Judaism is a religion more than a race.
Alternatively, it could be because Jews don't behave like proper ethnic minorities in this country, by claiming victim status at every opportunity and being dependent on the state (and the cheerleading of journalists and academics). Instead, they outperform the locals in education and employment, by dint of their cultural values.

Mike ADWa day ago Also, the Jews like the majority in the UK have no problem in taking the rise out of their culture and religion and don't issue a Jewish fatwa when someone else makes a joke at their expense. Mel Brooks a Jew was classic case in point at joking about the Jewish culture and religion, so was Dave Allen over Catholic religion and the many other christian comedians but we all know what happened to Salmond Rusdie or those Danish cartoons when Islam was joked about.
****************************

gelert ADWa day ago They also receive the support of the Great Satan, the USA. The Beeb hate the US; except for going there on licence money jollies.
Of course, the Beeb love sucking up to Islam and looking down their noses at people who are worried at its incursion into British life.
******************************

MaxSceptic ADWa day ago The reason is simple: it is not important how many Arabs die (170,000+ plus in Syria in the past 3 years in comparison to less than 10,000 dead in the whole Israel/Arab conflict during the past 25 years), but who can be blamed.
Radical Lefties don't care about dead Arabs; they care about the lack of dead Jews.

The_greyhounda day ago The insane Owen Jones was complaining in the Grauniad (I never line the cat's litter tray with anything else) the other day that the BBC was biased IN FAVOUR of Israel. http://www.theguardian.com/com...
Fruitcakes of the world unite.
***************************************

Mikea day ago Quite why the BBC and other left wing propogandists are so concerened with this altercation where a few on the Palestine side have died purely because of Hamas is beyond me. If they had any impartiality at all they'd be running large news reports on the tens of thousands of Muslims being killed by other Muslims in the middle east. The scale of deaths between this minor action which could stop in an instant if Hamas wished it, pales into insignificance with the genocide going on in Syria, Iraq & Libya.
Even in Egypt and other Islamic states there's a very unsteady peace and christians are being slaughtered on the quiet and more die daily there than Palestinians in Gaza.
Obviously the left have no perspective whatsoever on where the greater crimes against humanity are being carried out. It considers civil war and genocide of little consequence but where it wants to make a political point, just a few deaths are blown out of all proportion. Its time the BBC is dragged screaming from the tax payers teat for its funding and made to survive on its own without subsidies.
**********************************

Tom M Mikea day ago Quite so Mike. What always surprises me is that this altercation is truly racially motivated but is never described in the media as such. When someone refers to a person in Birmingham of Asian descent by the foreshortened name of his country of origin there are screams of racism from the liberal left and threats demanding the imprisonment of the perpetrator.
Suggest that you wish to eradicate a whole country because of your stated hatred of the people who populate it, not a murmer.

****************************

Mike Tom Ma day ago The left have a completely different dictionary to the rest of us and racist terminology like Honky, Snowflake or Whitey is absent from their derogatory ethnic descriptions.
*********************************

global city Damaris Tighea day ago as has often been stated on these threads, if the jihadis actually won then the lefties would be the first to the chopping block!
