“A two-state solution will not magically take root now for the same reason it has not happened in every year since 1947 — it is rejected by way too many Palestinians. The core problem is not Israel. Yes, there are obstacles in Israel that must someday be overcome,” he (Former Canadian PM Steven Harper) wrote in the National Post on Sunday. “But Israel could have incorporated all Palestinian territory long ago, and it has not done so.”

Harper also argued that popular chants – such as “from the river to the sea” — reflect the widespread sentiment among Palestinians that “they categorically reject the right of a Jewish state to exist on any piece of the land of the former Mandate for Palestine.”

“We must stop pretending that a two-state solution can be pursued in the face of the continued propagation of such a view. Yes, we must develop a roadmap that will lead to a Palestinian state, and Israel needs to contribute to that. But Israel should not be asked to go down that path as long as such ideologies are allowed to flourish on the Palestinian side,” the former Conservative Party leader continued.

Harper’s comments came as the Biden administration has raised the issue of a creating a Palestinian state in recent weeks. On Sunday, the Israeli Cabinet unanimously rejected such calls, insisting that it would amount to an “unprecedented reward to terrorism and would foil any future peace settlement.”
Hamas’ top brass have joined Israel in rejecting calls for a brokered Palestinian state — although for a different reason.

Senior Palestinian terror-group official Khaled Mashal balked at the notion last month — because he said his group hopes to expand its Palestinian territory and erase the Jewish state from the map.

“I would like to say two things about the two-state solution: First, we have nothing to do with the two-state solution,” the 67-year-old terrorist said in a translation provided by MEMRI TV. “We reject this notion, because it means you would get a promise for a [Palestinian] state, yet you are required to recognize the legitimacy of the other state, which is the Zionist entity.

“This is unacceptable,” he said of Israel’s existence.
The Egyptian and Qatari-mediated talks to try to reach a ceasefire in Gaza and secure the release of over 100 Israeli hostages being held in the Hamas-ruled territory have yet to produce results. A round of inconclusive talks in Cairo ended on Tuesday.

Asked during a press conference on Saturday why Israeli negotiators did not return for further talks, Netanyahu said: "We got nothing except for delusional demands from Hamas."

Those demands, he said, included ending the war and leaving Hamas as it is, freeing "thousands of murderers" from Israeli jails, and even demands regarding a flashpoint holy site in Jerusalem known as the Temple Mount in Judaism and the Noble Sanctuary in Islam.

He said Israeli representatives in Cairo "sat and listened and there was no change. I wanted to say not a millimeter - but there was not a nanometer of change."
Israeli war cabinet member Benny Gantz has warned that unless Hamas frees all hostages held in Gaza by 10 March an offensive will be launched in Rafah.

Ramadan - the Islamic holy month of fasting - this year begins on 10 March
The Israeli war cabinet consists of the country's top security officials. It was formed several days after Hamas-led gunmen attacked Israel on 7 October, killing at least 1,200 people and taking 253 hostages. Hamas is still holding about 130 hostages in Gaza, Israel believes.

WaterWorld?
The Holy Sea is taken.

One of the proposed rides is based on Splash Mountain with the theme modified to show six work days and a “calm zone” after a drop that signifies the day of rest.

Other planned attractions include a Jacob’s Ladder ride and a roller coaster that passes through gigantic tomes — representing Jews as the people of the book.

Plaim Park will also create and develop its own characters to populate the attractions and interact with visitors. It hopes these characters will become “cultural heroes of tomorrow”.

I was think’n more of a gigantic crater that fills with sea (mediterranean brand) water that encompasses the intersection of Asia & Africa…probably circular in shape, that extends the Mediterranean towards, but not connecting to…the Indian Ocean. Thus the aquatic themed theme park.

That depends on when it starts, & 1/2 lives, etc…

Named after the dumbest movie ever made? OK, makes sense.

Egypt borders Gaza, & has formally occupied & under Egyptian military rule from 1949 to 1956 and again from 1957 to 1967.
The Egyptian government did not consider the area part of Egypt and did not allow the refugees to become Egyptian citizens or to migrate to Egypt or to other Arab countries where they might be integrated into the population.
Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said Friday that Israel had no plans to push Palestinians out of Gaza. “The state of Israel has no intention of evacuating Palestinian civilians to Egypt,” he said. “We respect and value our peace agreement with Egypt, which is a cornerstone of stability in the region as well as an important partner.”

Israeli soldiers have been fighting to bring an end to 17 years of Hamas rule in Gaza and secure the release of about 130 hostages captured on Oct. 7 who are believed to be held by Palestinian militants in the enclave. Israel privately estimates as many as 50 of the hostages could be dead.

Trudeau, along with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon and Australia’s Anthony Albanese, issued a statement saying they are “gravely concerned by indications that Israel is planning a ground offensive into Rafah.”

The leaders go on to point out that 1.5 million people are in the area and that a “military operation into Rafah would be catastrophic.”

Yes, catastrophic for Hamas, a terrorist group which has been oppressing the people of Gaza for nearly 20 years. It would be catastrophic for the leadership of Hamas who have funneled billions of dollars in aid money into their war effort against Israel or their own bank accounts.

Now, these same cowardly leaders who have promised to launch attacks like those of Oct. 7 again and again until they defeat Israel are using the 1.5 million civilians in the area as human shields, a war crime they are not being called out for committing.
If anyone is forcing Palestinian civilians to pay the price of Israel defeating Hamas, it is Hamas, which continues to hide among the non-fighting population. While Steven Harper states clearly that defeating Hamas must be part of the solution for peace, Trudeau and his fellow travellers believe the real solution is just to stop fighting Hamas, the people who launched this war and who continue it to this day.

If you were to only listen to Justin Trudeau’s minister for international development, you might not know that Israel is at war with Hamas. For the past several days, Ahmed Hussen has been touring Egypt, he’s gone to the border with Gaza, he’s called on Israel to stop their war but not mentioned Hamas???

In post after post, Hussen laments the plight of civilians in Rafah in Gaza, even standing at the gate with the giant border fence built by Egypt. Not once though has he called for Hamas to protect civilians, just Israel???
“All civilians deserve to live in peace, security, and dignity, without fear and with equal human rights. We remain steadfast in our commitment to a two-state solution.”

There we go again. Ask Israel to stop fighting the terrorist group that attacked it on Oct. 7. Put the impetus for peace on Israel and call for a two-state solution when he knows that Hamas will not accept a two-state solution.

Justin Trudeau is among the world leaders calling on Israel not to invade Rafah on Gaza’s southern border. In this week’s Full Comment Podcast, Israeli government spokesman Eylon Levy explains to host Brian Lilley why this won’t happen.
Levy spends his day debunking all the patently ridiculous propaganda against Israel. The latest uproar the Israeli government spokesman is facing is the fevered campaign to try to keep Israel from invading Rafah.
As Levy tells Lilley, this plays right into Hamas’s hands. Levy discusses how the international media and naive governments, including Canada’s, are swallowing Hamas’s disinformation, unwittingly doing the terror group’s bidding.

And he explains how Israel’s success so far in smashing Hamas is driving the hysteria around the plan to take Rafah — the terror group’s last remaining stronghold.

If there was a ruckus brewing between Ottawa and Saskatoon, and the belligerents were the Canadian Forces vs the He-Man Woman Haters Club of Saskatoon, should the U.S. call on Canada or Saskatchewan to protect the Saskatooners?
