That makes sense. The Supreme Court ruled in 1939 that sawn-off shotgun could be banned because it was not a "militia weapon."

If you follow the logic, the Second Amendment means everybody can carry "militia weapons." Historically, the militia is a light infantry force. This would mean "militia weapons" are semi- or fully-automatic rifles, light-to-medium machine guns, grenades of various types, one-person rocket launchers, and light land mines.

And NOT sidearms, which are used in the military only as officers' badges of authority, by MPs, and as survival weapons by aircrew.

"Hon, I'm going shopping! Have you seen my anti-tank rocket launcher?"
All able bodied citizens who are are eligible by law to serve when called upon are the militia.

So no fat chicks or hicks.

Going by the 2nd Amendment "Able bodied" could be applied to purchase/possession and licensing of any/all arms.
The Second Amendment does not contain the words "able bodied." We have an exact definition, as opposed to the one you pulled out of your ass.

The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
18 USC § 246(a).

In Canada, before you buy a long gun, you must pass a safety course, undergo an investigation, get references including your spouse, obtain a license, and register the firearm. Most military semi-autos are prohibited. Semi-auto rifles can only have magazines with 5 rounds
In October 2023, Officer Anand Gandhi, a man originally from India who moved to Canada and became a police officer, was on patrol in Brampton. While driving past a red Jeep, Gandhi’s automatic plate reader alerted him that the owner of that vehicle had a suspended driver’s licence and the vehicle was “impound eligible.”

He was also alerted that the man was facing drug charges in Toronto.
It doesn't matter if he had a pistol and shotgun he didn't use those weapons. He used the C-4 storm.
And if the CX-4 Storm had not been available?

Which was my point.
Nobody ever said unfounded fears lead to rational reactions.

They painted themselves into a corner by making it a sin to identify race based gangs and cultures of violence as race based and cultural.
Justice Renu Mandhane, the former head of the Ontario Human Rights Commission, stated “On a balance of probabilities, I find that Officer Gandhi relied on information about the accused’s outstanding charges (of which he was presumed innocent) combined with stereotypes about Black men being more prone to criminality and more dangerous than other people, to justify his decision to arrest and detain the accused,” Mandhane wrote.

“While Officer Gandhi’s racial bias was likely unconscious and the product of our culture and his own worldview, that is not an excuse or even a mitigating factor in terms of the seriousness of the conduct,” she wrote. “The fact that Officer Gandhi is himself is racialized — he is a Brown man — does not insulate him from the insidious power of anti-Black racism, stereotype, and racial bias.”
With this finding, Mandhane excluded the loaded gun, and anything the accused said, from being used at trial which means the man was let go. These are exactly the kinds of guns that the Liberals in Ottawa say they want to take off the streets; in fact, this model was banned five years ago, put on a prohibited list, but Liberal-appointed judges come up with rulings like this.

Meanwhile, legal, licensed gun owners who used to take guns like this to the range are prohibited from using them.

They would face serious jail time for taking them to the range. If you possess an illegal Beretta CX4 and carry it around loaded in the back of your vehicle, you can be set free without even a trial, depending on your race — and if you can get before Mandhane.

“While firearms offences are serious, admitting the firearm into evidence in the context of this case would bring the administration of justice into disrepute,” she wrote.

It seems they want to disarm the general population & ensure that criminals ARE armed & we can't defend ourselves. Makes sense!

I’m assuming that they didn’t give it back to him…just, if you or I had that weapon in our backseat loaded we would be in jail and/or facing massive fines…but not this dude. Pretty ridiculous actually.

Yeah. If I can't have a .50-caliber, belt-fed M2 machine gun, and carry it into parent-teacher day in a school I don't have a kid in, I'm being OPPRESSED by CommieNaziLibTardFags!

In Canada, if you’re not military or law-enforcement, transporting a firearm, loaded, that’s not in a case, and doesn’t have a trigger guard, is probably a spankable thing. No sense of humour for that apparently, unless…see above story.

Anybody who transports a firearm loaded and uncased is far too clueless to be permitted any weapon more dangerous than a butter knife.
