That makes sense. The Supreme Court ruled in 1939 that sawn-off shotgun could be banned because it was not a "militia weapon."

If you follow the logic, the Second Amendment means everybody can carry "militia weapons." Historically, the militia is a light infantry force. This would mean "militia weapons" are semi- or fully-automatic rifles, light-to-medium machine guns, grenades of various types, one-person rocket launchers, and light land mines.

And NOT sidearms, which are used in the military only as officers' badges of authority, by MPs, and as survival weapons by aircrew.

"Hon, I'm going shopping! Have you seen my anti-tank rocket launcher?"
All able bodied citizens who are are eligible by law to serve when called upon are the militia.

So no fat chicks or hicks.

Going by the 2nd Amendment "Able bodied" could be applied to purchase/possession and licensing of any/all arms.
The Second Amendment does not contain the words "able bodied." We have an exact definition, as opposed to the one you pulled out of your ass.

The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
18 USC § 246(a).
