Hmmm.. I did look there and I see it was yourself, Colpy, that opened the topic and got into the America vs Canada gun thing right away; in fact that was what your post was all about.

Sorry, I only recently joined the forums: The subject heading caught my interest. (It didn't mention America by the way.) Seeing the thread ran to almost 400 pages I went straight to the end just to see what folks were saying recently.

Well you & I obviously have grossly divergent attitudes & opinions about gun laws. I don't think either of us is going to change much. There are many facets to the subject, but I really only care about how we deal with it in Canada.

I may post more about it in due course - or maybe not. But it's Canada I care about. The only concern I have with American law is when they want to impose it on other countries.

Be safe :).
In a nutshell clompy thinks that the big difference in gun violence rates between Canada and America - if they exist at all which he mostly thinks they do not - are due to "demographics" which is white natty for race.

If you delve deeply enough into his inane jibber jabber you will find he is perfectly ok with many forms of gun control such as back ground checks.

I am. So are you, if you're honest.

More importantly, what do you think of the AR frame? (That being at least remotely relevant to the topic and all.) Do you find that the pistol grip provides you better or more comfortable control of the weapon?

And we should note for the record that all the smart sperm your daddy shot slid down your mama's ass crack.

I'm a Maryland resident, you brain-damaged Canuck.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The stupid LIE-beral has apparently changed his address and thinks it is the fault of others that he has not updated his online status!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I refer of course to the little blob of information under your profile photo that states when you joined this site and where you apparently lived at the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That being listed as Washington DC for the likes of you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But never mind.......................once a LIE-beral.....................always a LIE-beral!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not that it really mattes where you live.................you would still be mocked for your famously twisted values!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And miss- representation has become a way of life for you people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And you can always TELL when a LIE-beral feels he is doing badly in a debate........................

his answers get really snarly and personal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the LIE-beral cause is now in such disgrace that you are really lashing out in frustration!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh How Far the LIE-berals have fallen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go shoot off your little gun now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely it will compensate for impotence in other areas of your life?????????????

Just wondering; how many on here have had a friend or family member shot, and how many have thought they were saved by brandishing a gun? Myself I'm 82 and the only murdered person I've ever known was bludgeoned with a brick. Don't know anyone who's been shot or even threatened with a gun (off the battlefield of course.) I've known one or two suicides but they all used rope.

Although I was raised in Canada in a culture where guns were as common as pocket combs I have never had a friend or family member shot, although an acquaintance was killed in the 1970s with a sawed off .410 shotgun..........a guy was convicted of the murder, 30 years later it turned out he was railroaded, as it was an accident..........and he didn't pull the trigger.

82? Well, double welcome for you, and I happily surrender my title of "old guy". I'm 64. :)

As for saving my ass, yes I did that once with a gun...........without firing a shot. The guy was later found to have murdered 4 people.

And I carried for years as an armoured car guard. No on-the-job trouble. Just armed deterrence.

Thanks for the welcome, young fella. As you'll have gathered I never wanted to carry a gun; but if I was an armoured car guard that would be different. I did have an old Lee-Enfield for a while; thought I might become a hunter but Nah ...

When I was a kid there were rifle clubs in Britain, formed after the Boer war when a population of gun-savvy farmers seriously embarrassed the British army. The idea was to create a nation of riflemen. Kipling & Conan Doyle were advocates or founders. (This is hearsay, I'm not THAT old.) My dad was a member and had a point-22. If the Germans had invaded I don't think he'd have held them up for long. Shot a few rabbits; meat was scarce. I don't much like rabbit meat - and there's all those little bones.

You must have lead a sheltered life.
My concern with handgun laws is more about government intrusion in our lives although they are handy for travel in remote places. hunting rifles are an important item in this part of the world and the laws designed to stop criminal use of guns in the cities are haveing an impact on our rights without doing anything for the problem they were suposedly designed for. Fact is none of our gun laws influence criminals while they have serious consequences for law abiding citizens for no reason.

also traffic laws have no effect on accident rates.

all those speed limits only inconvenience the law-abiding while the criminals are free to drive as fast as they want.

Taxslave chooses to air an assumption about my life rather than answer the question I ask.

Has the actual use of a gun directly affected the lives of other forum members, their relatives and their friends?

I agree that there are legitimate civilian uses for rifles and hunting is obviously one of them. I seriously question the notion that our current laws are a significant obstruction to those uses; also the statement that our laws do nothing to address the use of guns by criminals.

Lets see now...................I worked with a guy whose 25 year old daughter was raped and stabbed to death by a convicted drug dealer who had served his time...........................................

and was back out and unemployed........................................

and he was bored and had too much time on his hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So the girl got raped and then stabbed so she would not speak and identify her assailant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She was left to bleed out in her bed................................

her father came home and found the body.....................................

I have a neighbour whose teenage kid was working in a basement warehouse underneath a big shopping mall....................

and discovered that 3 black goofs had sneaked in and were in the process of loading electronics into their car when the neighbour kid and an assistant came by.....................

One of the thieves was SUPPOSED to have been standing on guard with a shot gun............................

but dumbhead put it down and went into the trailer to look at the loot...........................

that is when neighbour kid and assistant arrived.................................

The thieves hid till they figured out the two store employees were coming right to their trailer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then the guard rushed out to try to grab the shot gun..............................

He got pushed over a guard rail and off the loading dock........................

Landed on his head....................in coma for a few weeks.........................smashed pumpkin effect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ring leader of the gang picked up the bolt cutters they had used to open the trailer and attacked the second store employee...............

aimed the bolt cutters at the guys head and tried to hit a "home run"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The employee got his arm up in time and saved his head...............................

but arm broken in three places...............................lots of steel pins needed to hold things together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The neighbours kid broke the nose of the ring leader and knocked him out cold...........................

The third thief looked at the bodies and blood and surrendered quietly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The gang ringleader was 19 and and out on bail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In the last year - before this robbery he had been accused of committing the following:::::

committed a previous armed robbery.....................................

committed a rape.................................

committed attempted murder at some Toronto Club!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The robbery thwarted by neighbours kid was arranged by organized crime........................

they bribed an IT specialist who had arranged the store computerized security and stock control systems to give them access!!!!!!!!!!!

by this method the gang was able to identify exactly which trailer they wanted to break into!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Toilet paper is certainly useful stuff but if you are trying to pay off drug debts as the gang leader was.............................

electronics are FAR MORE ATTRACTIVE than TP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIE-berals are DOING NOTHING about crime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than offering EXCUSES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"A farmer needs to shoot rabbits in Saskatchewan" should not be the answer to the question "why should a kid in Scarborough be allowed to take a machine gun to school?"
