Colpy,

This past weekend I took the safety course (Non-Restricted Only) I got 98% on the written test and 98% on the practical test.

My political affiliation may say NDP but I don't toe the party line completely, and especially when it comes to firearms. I think as long as someone is licensed and cleared as mentally stable and not crimminal etc, they should be able to own any gun they want even full-auto or snub-noses.

It's funny to see how some react when I mentioned I am getting a license and then a gun. This is an actual conversation from a group for people on Ontario Disability Support Program ("disability") a couple weeks ago:

Me: I'm getting a firearms license soon
Them: Why do you want a gun?
Another one of them: Get serious!
Me: About what?
Another one of them: You getting a gun!
Me: As long as you get a license, t's perfectly legal.

Some lefties and guns, are like conservatives and pre-marital sex - they go crazy when they hear it.

Thank you for your post and for illustrating why gun control is stupid.

I have a couple of questions that may shed more light on this contentious issue.
1. Per capita, how do murder rates compare between Canada and the U.S.?
2. Per thousand murders in Canada and the U.S. how does the use of a gun compare in each?

Saying guns don't kill people is like saying defibrillators don't save people.

Using a defibrillator saves lives.

Using a gun defensively, defends more lives.

Using a gun criminally, kills more people..........unless the people are using the guns defensively, then the odds are balanced.

Look it up.

The facts. While I respect your right to an opinion get the facts that shows the above conjecture is even close to the way it is.

In any discussion, facts are not necessarily required, you just have to be more reasonable, more believable, or more logical than the other point of view.

Wouldn't you agree that your "Nope. Look it up" qualifies for none of the above? Although it sounds very authoritative, it contains no reason, logic, or credibility.

That is why I asked you to be more specific.

I'd say it's the same, specifically speaking.

Annoying eh?

Using a defibrillator may or may not save lives, It will fail to resuscitate those who's heart is not fibrillating or has already been severely damaged.
Using a gun defensively just might. However, as seen by those military men shot down recently, one has to be able to get the gun out first. Gun against gun is rarely successful. Stopping someone without one of course works.
Using a gun criminally, mostly results in death, even for the guy using it. The criminal is just about always caught and dies or commits suicide, so the results are the same. Ergo guns kill, period.
