How does one defend oneself from a hidden sniper who gets one with his first shot?

Question, Colpy.

Do you really believe that ALL "Gun Control is Completely Useless?"

Basically, yes. Unless you are talking about the control that helps you hit your target.

Criminals get guns. Anywhere, despite gun laws.

Lunatics kill with gasoline, dynamite, cars, box cutters and airliners. You can't prevent nuts from being nuts by controling inanimate objects.

Now, that said, I have no problem with licensing, which is person control, not gun control. I like those who buy guns to have had some form of safety training, as necessary to get a Canadian license........and the background check required means that you can differentiate between those who are OK and not OK.

That said, I have two gun owning co-workers........both without licenses. Both working as security officers in a very high security area....both good people, obviously without any record of criminality or insanity.

They just don't understand why they should have to ask the gov't's permission to do what they have done since they were children.....and I understand that.

I firmly believe magazine restrictions, and the idiotic classification of firearms into "prohibited, restricted, and unrestricted" classes is brain-dead, useless, and a simple attempt to harass us. I think mandatory sentencing is crazy, and I think that any person should be able to take classes on law, self-defense, and firearms handling and have their license upgraded for concealed carry.

Is THAT confusing enough for you??

It would appear that the police are not following the letter of the law. WHy am I not surprised? It does show how foolish it was to register all your long guns.

Just look at what happens in a Country with Gun Laws ...............

An Ipswich teenager is accused of going on a drunken late-night chainsaw rampage inside a petrol station while wearing a flower pot on his head.

Police rushed to the 7-Eleven service station on Ash St, Flinders View, following calls for help from two terrified shop attendants.

It will be alleged the man - who was wearing a flower pot over his head in an attempt to conceal his identity - entered the store about 4.30am on Monday, while two staff members were cleaning a coffee machine.

Wielding a chainsaw which was running at the time, the man lunged at the store attendants, who retreated into a back room.

Police allege the man then used the chainsaw to damage a window

and several display racks in the shop, before exposing his buttocks to the store attendants. He is accused of damaging a parked vehicle upon fleeing the scene.

It will be alleged the man made demands for money, but left the store only with a bottle of soft drink and the chainsaw.

A police officer en route to the service station noticed the suspect walking down Ash St shortly after the incident. He was placed under arrest.

Members of the dog squad then followed a trail back to the service station and located the allegedly stolen chainsaw in bush not far from the scene.

Leichhardt teenager Steven Frank Steele was later charged with one count of armed robbery, two counts of wilful damage, one count of going armed to cause fear, one count of public nuisance and one count of possessing suspected stolen property.

A lawyer appeared on his behalf when the case was heard before Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday.

No application was made for bail, and Steele will remain in custody until the case is heard again on March 3.
