But guns have only one purpose and that is to kill...

But knives have only one purpose, and that is to cut.........

And Axes have only one purpose, and that is to chop........

And hammers have only one purpose, and that is to hammer......

It is all in what, or where, you cut, chop, hammer or kill.

Oh, and I have fired tens, if not hundreds of thousands of rounds out of guns........I've never killed anyone.

roflmao That's just unbelievable. Ever since I can remember kids have played "war", "cowboys & injuns", "cops & robbers", and since the 50s have hunted bad aliens and they've done that with everything from pointed fingers to pieces of plastic. The vast majority of those kids turn out to be well-adjusted, well-behaved people. Yakima needs to get a grip.

Thats a pretty silly comparison, but yes you can use a knife to cut your potatos, cut an orange in half, do you use your gun to shoot a tomato? Get real.

No.

Cutting a tomato is a legitimate use for a knife.

Attacking a human is not.

Shooting a deer is a legitimate use for a gun, as is shooting an attacker.

Attacking an innocent is not.

What's the difference???

You answered the question. Guns are only for killing.

We've been over this time and again. No point arguing any more about it....

I can think of two more, recreational target shooting and scaring the sh*t out of perpetrators that are in danger of getting killed. You know about rock salt?

Yep, I think we were pretty well adjusted kids back (prior to '59) when we used to play cops and robbers and cowboys and Indians (ooops I mean aboriginals) with our cap guns.

No, we haven't been over this discussion at all. Not that I can remember.....first of all, guns are used for sport shooting, many thousands more rounds are fired at paper or clay than at flesh........

Secondly, when did "killing" become a questionable practice? if you eat meat, then it is not questionable.......if you don't, you are a small minority, and your beliefs are not sanctioned by the majority.

Third, is not self-defense a legitimate use of firearms????

Simple as this: guns have numerous uses other than the wrongful killing of humans, same as knives, hatchets, baseball bats (clubs) and hammers. All of the above have been produced at one time or another, in one fashion or another, to kill humans. they are all the same....simply a tool to be used or misused by the person wielding it........and that person is SOLELY responsible for the consequences of that usage.......not the manufacturer, their entire gender, the seller, the movie producers, the actors, the politicians, or the little girl down the lane.........

The person using the weapon, no matter what it is, is SOLELY responsible for the consequences......

This is a very old topic that I refuse to get into. I have never seen a forum on gun control that does not deteriorate into a shouting match. Each side pulls out statistics and examples to support its point of view, and neither side can convert the other. That is all I am going to say on the matter.

Yep, it's pretty much a polarized subject- city slickers who have no use for them vs. country bumpkins, who value them the same as their wife and their truck. I was mostly raised in the country.

I don't really think anyone ever convinces anyone on any subject on these forums......

Everybody just wants their say....

Some subjects, to my own detriment, I can't stay away from........

I would, nonetheless, be interested to hear your views, so I at least know whether to laud or abuse you......;-)
