Gun Control is Completely Useless.

Mass. becomes first state to ban bump stocks after the Vegas shootings. NRA made a half-hearted attempt to prevent it on the grounds the penalties were too severe - minimum 18 months maximum life.

It seems to be something the gun rights crowd is ok with giving up.

I am fully willing to throw full autos (and reasonable facsimiles) out of the sleigh......if only it would sate the gun grabber wolves.

It won't.

These scum will not be happy until the only people with weapons are the enforcers for the state.

Oh, and I hate mandatory sentencing for anything.....it lessens flexibility in the justice system, and makes it less about justice and more about law. UGH. (I know, I know Harper loved them.)

And life? For simple possession of a mechanical device? Oh gimme a break.

Its encouraging that there are things that can be done that have support from both sides. That is some sort of progress at least,

I don't think it's an especially effective measure either.

I agree.

People forget that repeating firearms, even full autos, are essentially 19th century technology. Anyone with brains, skill, and access to good steel and a machine shop can make them.

The only assault rifle I have ever used is the FNC1 and you can turn that into a full automatic with a wooden match.

True story.

I own an FN FAL.

Wonderful rifle.

Unfortunately, it is prohibited (grandfathered) and I can't even take it to the range. It is now an expensive paperweight.

Thank you, ludicrous Canadian gun laws.

I found them ridiculously heavy and loud. Honestly cannot imagine lugging one around. Fun to shoot though.

Me too. I was a damned good shot with it, too.

p.s. I passed out during a LONG parade/inspection/Attention!, once with a bayonet on the end of my FN-C1. Somehow, I avoided skewering myself and I woke up to Admiral Falls looking down into face asking "Are you okay, son?" in a grandfatherly manner.

A right guy he was, btw.

I can still close my eyes and strip it. I thought that it weighed a ton until I fired some Lee Enfields.

They had a small metal tit called the safety seer (sp?) You could depress it with a match stick and snap it off and it would fire full auto for a while anyway.

I had only been familiar with shotguns prior to firing the FN. I will admit I was impressed with the power of the thing. We shot a 50 gallon drum of water and took a look at the exit wound. It was massive. It would destroy a person

You can fire it until you A) run out of rounds B) turn the barrel red C) the NCO puts you on charge..

It will easily separate your shoulder. Coincidentally, I am in line for a second shoulder surgery (not related)

It is OK with me that you like this shit but you do realize most of us just want to go hunting maybe bring home a deer or a couple ducks.

Hunh?

WTF?

I was never a "gun hobbiest" and I firmly believe that about 90% of the armed masses shouldn't be.

Northern Ontario,
In my army cadet days we had to learn to strip and put back together the old Bren gun. Blindfolded!
I would like to find one and see if I could still do it

Is anyone else out there old enough to remember the Bren Gun?

How about a Ross?

Brown Bess?

Arquebus?

Ballista?

Northern Ontario,
For a long time I had a 58 cal. cap and ball muzzle loader....
Surprising how accurate that long rifle was
It could match any modern rifle with open sights, to 300 yards..although the 300 yards rear sight flipped up about 3 to 4 inches above the rear of the barrel

Did you shoot any critters for Granny to cook up in her cauldron by the Seement Pond?

I still have a .54 Hawken I built from a kit nearly 40 years ago, and it too is quite accurate provided you load it properly. I have to use a full 120gr of FFG (its max load) with a 230gr round ball. Anything less and accuracy drops substantially. Though much cleaner, Triple 7 powder just doesn't work well. Black powder is dirty stuff.

Isn't that the one with the thick hexagonal barrel? ...or octagonal ... can't remember.
