Exactly!!! What we need to do to the PC Anti-Gun crowd..
That cartoon first appeared in the original Mother Earth News in the early 70s. Nothing much has changed since then and nothing much will change in the foreseeable future. I'm neutral on the issue. I can see both sides, so it is a six or half a dozen of the other kinda thing. I just love R. Cobb cartoons. This is a classic.

My impression of most "macho type he-men" hunters:

Go to a wild-game banquet or a gun show and you can spot the maturity level of almost everyone there at a glance. Loads and loads of wannabe Rambos.

You got that right, I worked with one for several years, there wasn't a weapon he wasn't professional at using, or an animal he hadn't shot or a place he hadn't hunted..............didn't have many other interests though. :) :)

But what if hubby is not with me? Any dude'll do? Some dude's might object to that in public. Dude's wife sure would not be impressed favourably either.

Knowledge. Wisdom is too fleeting to pin down to a time and place.

Erm, we have one shotgun here. It is 12 ga. full choke. Choke determines the "spray" and full choke means that in 3 meters, the pattern might be 6 cm with a couple speckles outside the main pattern. Still a pretty good chance of missing. Besides that, the barrel alone is 0.8 meters. Add 40 cm to that for action and buttstock and you have a very long object to try to maneuver around in what may be a tight area and a baseball bat would work better for bludgeoning anyways. We'll stick to the sidearms. Hubby has a Eagle in .50 700 gr and I can shoot it but it is a heavy piece. Mine's .357 180gr. Lots of splat there.
But we really don't think about invasions much because with two overly excitable and noisy border collies, we'd have plenty warning of an intruder and most likely the intruder would disappear quickly after hearing the dogs.

Really. I so agree. So our present state of laws seems to be working quite well and we have little to fear from turning into those nasty, blood-thirsty, hair-triggered, short-fused, and itchy-fingered monsters south of the border. hehe So why do you continually try comparing Canada to the USA?
Mostly because the pro-gun Canadians who post here want Canadian laws to mirror the American ones. I am considered anti-gun because I am quite content with our laws.

Right so do we allow a child to use a knife without showing him how to use it??

My son was given a safety training course on how to handle a knife.

Do we allow just anyone to use dynamite around the house??
OMG! you allow properly trained people to use dynamite around the house? That is screwed up.

Can just anyone drive a car without passing a test to prove they are capable of doing so??
On private property, Yes.

Did you allow your children to bludgeon it's siblings?? Or do you consistently attack your neighbor with a knife or bludgeon them when they annoy your??

Can you not go more than a hundred words without personifying good law abiding people as the bludgeoning scum that lurks in the shadows of your reality?

So why allow anyone to purchase & use a gun before they can prove they know how to use one, to not get a license for one or buy one without a background check, without passing a test on how to use one. To know enough to lock it up securely when not in use, to keep it out of reach of children, know the rules on storing a gun and bullets separately, etc. etc.

I've done all the safety training, background checks, and I go beyond the minimum legal requirement for safe storage. Yet, all I seem to get from your ilk is more disdain. It is like you are disappointed that I haven't murdered or raped someone.

We can say a car doesn't get into an accident by itself, but how safe would anyone be on the road without traffic signals, stop signs, reasonable speed limits, driving lessons or proving themselves capable of knowing how to drive??

Less safe than you would be at a gun show. LOL

It is not me that has the comprehension problem but those who believe the US should continue on with their gun laws as they are!!
Yep, and your grand mother must have supported prohibition.

For goodness sake, they have by far the worst record of loss of life due to their lack of laws.
That is ridiculous. Back that claim up with some sort of proof.

And exactly how many times, have you ever had occasion to use one against a gun toting criminal?

Exactly the same number of times that I've used a fire extinguisher to put out a house fire, a defibrillator to save a heart attack victim, a generator to survive an ice storm, a spare tire to fix a flat, and a life jacket to save a drowning child. An let us not forget my life insurance policy, I have never had occasion to need it, in fact, I am starting to wonder if it will ever do me any good.

You do not live in the US and very few Canadians ever encounter a gun toting criminal.
That is because most of the gun toting Canadians are not like the boogie man under your bed. Your paranoia grows deeper by the minute.

No wonder Bluebyrd35 is gun shy, she has had 5 traffic accidents, she would probably shoot her foot off... Shes clumsy and scared, so she wants to legislate everyone else because shes handicapped...

If she can't keep it straight on the road, I'm happy she does take up shooting, wouldn't want to be a neighbor.

Scared??? Clumsy?? Not sure where you got that impression but it is wrong. As for my stance on gun control, may I suggest you go back over my posts in this thread, that way you will have the necessary repeats you apparently need to understand.

By the way, I have had experiences with brain damaged children and they tend to need endless repetitions before understanding even the smallest statement. Were you born with yours, or is it the result of an accident or disease. I will try to keep your condition in mind when dealing with your misstatements from now on. I will try to patient with your condition, or refrain from responding.

I wonder if your condition is known by the Ontario licensing re driving or owning deadly weapons?? Have you been honest with those departments??

Reading your thread would make anybody brain damaged.. Why would I bother, it's written by some Liberal old bag living in a one horse town, blink ya miss it.

Now piss off Frances with your stupid threats, or we shall see who's door has law enforcement knocking on it.

You don't know me personally other than on some Internet forum...nor should you judge or put to much credit into what is posted by somebody online, you don't know who or what that individual does in real life.

Duh, no fukking kidding.. but the Liberals are the ones who started the "Gun Registry" and I'm sure Canadians are wondering now what.

I bet you he tries to seize guns in Canada.
They're gonna go door-to-door takin' away yer guns, shiny belt buckles and your pickup trucks.
