Yes, 72 he is still a deadly weapon. Example: Bernard Hopkins - age means nothing.. knowledge and skill means everything.

Nope that's not my argument, that's just you digging yourself in deeper and showing your stupidity.
How odd, you see no difference between a 33 year old practicing martial arts, a 49 year old who is still boxing and a 72 year old who is retired. The judge was right in the case of the 33 year old. He is an Afghanistan vet. besides and has obviously not adjusted to stupid civilians yet.

Since he was the one with the road rage just imagine if there had been a gun handy,he would be facing a murder change instead. It seems age only makes a difference when it suits your argument. So the stupid label is back on your head where it belongs eh!!

There's an old saying in the U.S., "God made man, and Colt made 'em equal." That applies even more for women. What chance does the average woman have against the average man hand-to-hand?* But a shooter's a shooter, and it's amazing what a few grams of lead can do to even things up between a 110-pound woman and a 195-pound man.

* Please note that I said "average," and spare me your extreme anecdotes of the very, very few old folks or women who have sufficient strength, speed, or training to beat the average man.

I absolutely agree, but that was not my point.

I certainly wouldn't expect you to know the details of Canadian gun legislation, but what Mulcair says is simply untrue.

First, since the gov't dumped the long gun registry, the murder rate has dropped.

Secondly, the Ruger Mini 14 has always been unrestricted, Bill C-42 will not make it easier to get, in fact Bill C-42 makes it more difficult to get a firearms license, and will therefore make any long gun, including the Mini 14, more difficult to get.

And thirdly, as a non-restricted firearm, the Mini 14 is in no way affected by the transport provisions of C-42.

Mulcair is not stupid. That means he is lying through his teeth.

My input wasn't really a response, more a general statement. I'm not a gun-nut wacko, and I know you're not either. We both favor reasonable gun ownership, with reasonable restrictions, supported by data, that maximize the effectiveness of guns in protecting honest folk whilst minimizing the harm they cause in the hands of dishonest folk.

Just kinda hard to get to that place with all the screamers on both sides horning in every time you try to have a reasonable discussion.

That all depends on the genes doesn't it?? My husband died at 70.

HAHAHA.....you accusing ME of age discrimination??? I must admit that tickles me. When I was very young, probably about 10, I was told I could not wear shorts outside of my own front yard, and certainly not on the playground of the local park by a city policeman. When I was 12, in a class of mostly 13 and 14 year olds, even the teachers treated me as the oldest because I was the tallest. . 15, 16, & 17, I was pinched by what I considered rotten, old men on buses and in streetcars. (Looking back, they were probably in their late 20's to 40's) I have been put down by city folks who thought I was from the country and country folks for being from the city. I was assumed to be stupid because, I was good-looking by my future male in-laws.. At 17, I had already been proposed to twice and told by a third he was going to marry me!! HA! Do you get the idea yet??

Now, while very few outside my family know my age, I am treated quite normally, EXCEPT here, where a few can do basic math.

So no, some of my favorite people are oldsters, after all I am one. However, I cannot bend over backwards, as I could do at 20, nor throw 80 lb. bales of hay onto wagons and into hay mows as I could in my 40s and 50's. That doesn't mean, one cannot learn to defend oneself, even in their 70's or 80's.

Do you know of any data that supports the notion that Canada's gun control laws work any better than the US's laws?

Nope. And I wouldn't even look for any. Different countries, different cultures, different circumstances. You might wanna look into some of the more innovative state laws (most of our gun laws are state, not Federal), and see if they seem to make a difference:

1. Over time.

2. Compared to similar states.

That might could give you a few ideas.

Something dippers are prone to.

That's for sure, the man is a brilliant politician, and I'm guessing our next PM.

Harper has done a good job as far as security for Canada.. but not much else.. he still caters to the big corporations that have left Canada for cheaper labor.

TJ is wet behind the ears, not experienced and well we saw in the USA what happens when you elect somebody based on their last name..

The Prime Minister's job is not an Entry Level Job, not for a trust fund kid. But hey, he has nice hair. ;)

I'm guessing the future of Canada belongs to the NDP, a government that will start worrying about jobs here at home, the middle class and keeping care of all Canadians.
