The contents of your average Swiss broom closet.

BTW, those are not pansy-*** semi auto, but selective fire, REAL assault rifles, with high capacity magazines.

"Machine guns", for the uninitiated.

The murder rate in Switzerland 2011: 0.6 per 100,000

Canada 2013: 1.4 per 100,000

USA 2013: 4.7 per 100,000

United Kingdom 2011: 1.0 per 100,000

Honduras 2012: 90.4 per 100,000

Now, guess who has tough gun control and who does not?

LOl you are incredible and will do anything to make false info into truth.

The Swiss have a lower death rate than the US because the male population go through mandatory military training by age 20 and will be members of that militia until age 30 for most but 34 for officers. They are issued guns then and they are mandated to keep them at home, since WW!!. Because of the type of country and surrounded by Nazi Europe this worked very well. Today even medical and postal workers still have issued guns and ammunition, which by the way is sealed and inspected regularly to ensure the weapons have not been fired.
|
Those guns today are used most often in suicides and crimes of passion. The Director of Zurich's Women's Shelter ***,n reports that 1/5 of the women in these institutions say they were threatened with the guns kept at home by their male partner or spouse.

The Swiss government will adhere in the near future to the Schengen Agreement. This requires all guns will be entered in a central electronic registration department along with all 26 European countries.

I was in Switzerland last summer and all tourists get this lecture. And while there, I saw not a gun in sight, and the news was not as it is down here. The first half hour here every day carries the overnight shootings and the status of those caught and those that we are supposed to keep an eye out for. That's all. Except, you just might do well to see why it is a killing field down here.

I intended not to even answer any gun nuts from now on, because it is obvious how little those with blinkers actually know or even aware of. Worse they do not even make an effort to indicate they do NOT know. By the answers given, not an iota of research was done. However, this I could not pass up.

More anecdotes and no link for proof.................figures
You can find all the facts out for yourself by going to Switzerland and if you do make sure to visit the Matterhorn. Someone here advised me....".Google is a friend" and can be mostly your friend too!! Just remember, Google is not always right.

All the multitude of reports given out by different agencies on gun violence stats in the US, prove they are not accurate. It alone is proof of how badly you and your cohorts do your own .research. Mine are very EASY to find, you do not have to go to 17 or 28 different sources, all different in order to find one or two that correspond and that suits you.

Sigh

The Swiss have had universal male military service for hundreds of years, and all males keep assault rifles in their homes. That is why they have not been in so much as a spat with any other nation in 200 years.

So, if Switzerland is armed to the teeth, and the murder rate is one of the lowest on earth, that proves the problem is not guns.

It is called linear thinking, you should try it.

You wouldn't know actual evidence if you were buried in it.

Gun laws in the USA have loosened immensely in the last 20 years, until right now they are provisions for civilian carry of pistols in every state.

According to the FBI, the murder rate has fallen 50% in the last 20 years.

Which proves you are absolutely full of it.

What Colpy said.....I wouldn't even try to trump his data....He's like our local Range master here at the club....A walking encyclopedia on guns and gun laws, also a firearms instructor..... I checked his information for a while...years ago .....I quit trying to second guess him a long time ago :)..... both the range master and Colpy lol

SIGH Still not doing your homework.

"

In the right to bear arms debate, pro-gun Americans point to Switzerland, where almost every adult male is legally required to possess a gun. One of the few nations with a higher per capita rate of gun ownership than the United States, Switzerland has virtually no gun crime. Therefore, argue the pro-gunners, America doesn't need gun control. Yet Handgun Control, Inc. (HCI), in its brochure "Handgun Facts," points to Switzerland as one of the advanced nations with strict handgun laws." The brochure states that all guns are registered, and handgun purchases require a background check and a permit. Gun crime in Switzerland is virtually non-existent. Therefore, concludes Handgun Control, America needs strict gun control."

Oh and those Assault Weapons.....they are issued to those going through their three months basic training and kept at home only for that period, during which time they receive 6 1/2 days training in them. So you see everything you believe is just not fact.

Gunite.com/swissgun-Kopel.html.

Gawd I hate having to repeat time and again, that the FBI will never have accurate stats, because they are only called in when the local police require their services. The reason for having it under DDC is because all gun accidents were sent through doctors, hospitals, mental health facilities, morgues and medical examiners, even the police...etc.etc.

Someone reporting being threatened by a gun toting nutball, especially if married to same will go to their doctor rather than the police. Police going to disturbances in homes, offices or other institutions will often solve the problem by removing the person or the gun, but do not report the incident to the FBI. Why would they?

The FBI Bureau of Crime Statistics does not cover only statistics on cases the FBI is called in on. State and local police departments have a number of reporting requirements.

You really don't know how this works. Be a good time to stop digging.

OMG you have no clue.

Mistakes in fact, and simple nonsense.

1. The USA has the highest rate of private firearms ownership in the world, hands down. Switzerland is number 4.

Number of guns per capita by country - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

2. The Swiss militia still keep their weapons at home, however they may store them at an armoury, if they so wish.

3. The FBI keep accurate stats on crimes committed, especially murder. They show a 50% drop in 20 years. . Keeping crime statistics from all over the USA is a major part of their mandate. They do so in conjunction with the Dep't of Justice, and their stats are quite simply unassailable.

4. Yes, there is licensing in Switzerland, but the people are encouraged to keep arms. Those who have done their military service are allowed to keep their assault rifles in civilian life, with only the full auto option removed.

5. Handgun shooting and ownership is also encouraged, and, although licensed, when Handgun Control claims the Swiss have "strict gun control", they are simply lying.

I'm going through a lot of furniture headdesking in response to Bluebyrd's "arguments." Why do we persist, Colpy?

Yeah, yeah, I know, we're actually arguing to the rational onlookers. Still, ever get the feeling we're trying to carve granite with a Q-Tip?

I guess I should have expected this. After all who else but those who cannot see past the US having to restrict arms following into the hands of children would think granite was unnatural and a Q-tip natural. But of course who would think people kill not guns, even though those who kill are often human children. Remember the age of an adult is 21 in the US.

Bluebyrd, I believe you are advocating Canadian gun control measures for the USA, despite that absense of any evidence that it worked in canada.

Oh dear. Another person babbling about what is "natural" therefore good and "unnatural" therefore bad on a COMPUTER.

Wrong. The age of drinking is 21. For most purposes, a person is reckoned an adult at 18 in the U.S.

Nice try though.
