Excellent post.
I don't do thumbs.

There is a some stuff in your post that I fundamentally disagree with and thus have a lot of trouble accepting as a logical reality.
But my personal political or social views tend to have nothing to do whether or not I view a particular post as moving or well written.
That was a pretty good one.
Thank you. I don't expect or even really want you to agree. But I appreciate you recognising thought instead of the usual blather.

You feel like discussing it sometime, I'd be up for that.

I wouldn't say you were throwing tennis balls at a tank. You simply misunderstood what I said. The fact that you said "As it happens, my race doesn't prevent me from doing what I choose to do." backed up my point quite nicely.
Wrong. Your point was that aboriginals have no more obstacles than anyone else. Not that people have enough initiative to overcome their obstacles.
CDN Bear is right, you either lie or spin or both.

What I have said is that the obstacles are "perceived". You have admitted that you did not allow these to affect you so they obviously are not "real" obstacles. Now, I may be misreading you. Perhaps you just think you are better than everybody else and the "real" obstacles just don't affect you like other people.
^ and there's the dance.

LOL...clearly you have no idea of the "obstacles" white males face because you aren't a white male....that's funny.
I am and I understand the obstacles of white males, but they're a red herring and at least from my POV number less than those of aboriginals. They also are not the same obstacles as aboriginals, which is more red herring from you.
Keep digging your hole and then filling it in. it's funny.

Some jerk invades your house and makes up rules for living there that you don't understand, forces you to speak another language, chucks out all the stuff you were comfortable with, then forces you to live in the garage, limits you to only one store to get your groceries from, etc. etc. and you say there aren't more obstacles?
Fec-kin clown.
That sounds just like the life of an E.European pioneer.

etc. etc. etc. ad nauseum

BTW, concerning the reddies ... grow up. Rather than just pout and hand out reddies when you don't like a post, refute it with evidence.

Apparently you have a goofy definition of what perception is: let me help;

Or an Irish homesteader, or an Australian aboriginal, or .......

Life is easy for anyone who shows up.

Canada's history is a dark sordid tale of xenophobic induced misery for millions.

For millions of beavers, millions of natives and millions of white and black slaves from the old countries. But we prefer the bright shinny storybook history like we unlearned in school.

uhuh But just saying they're wrong and nothing else means exactly nothing.

lol..."obstacle" is a euphemism for "excuse" and nothing more. It's a term that allows lazy people to feel better about themselves and those with high opinions of themselves to feel superior. I could have played in the NBA but my lack of talent was an "obstacle"

Ah, you are using the Unabridged Cannucklehead Dictionary instead of a normal one. That explains a lot.
Like I pointed out before, whether someone can overcome an obstacle or not, doesn't mean it isn't there. And BTW, laziness IS an obstacle to some people.

It means they believed it was there and it allows them to be smug because they overcame it while others couldn't. I get where you are coming from.
