The thing about being Mormon is that it is/was a glimpse into the before-and-afterlife much greater than anything ever offered before.
that could make for a very interesting discussion. Would you be inclined to do a new topic that would lend itself to such a discussion??
Personally, I am interested in all these ideas , beliefs etc for what they are. ...and how they are practiced by the various cultures on the planet. Even though I am a realist , a humanist, .....I find these beliefs exotic and fascinating. Just as I find the nature of "belief" itself a complex mindset.- in terms of how these beliefs evolve, are passed from generation to generation , find a place in various traditions, etc. Mostly, the question of how they take root in the first place. (apart from the obvious family dynamics and traditions )
Another question that comes to mind is : How come some question the validity of beliefs (which are really unsubstatiated ) and keep a receptive mind to all ideas, theories , and creative thinking......while some find it more comfortable to simply not question, and just follow along in whatever traditional path they have been brought up in. The dynamics of all this encompasses the mind, its abilities, its elasticity as well as its suggestability. & vunlerability.
