did you even read what I wrote? no...or perhaps you would not have made such a stupid stupid remark, but do carry on, it just keeps reinforcing what I said
Actually I did you are making the accretion that children around guns can come to harm .
I am simply reminding you that children can come to harm without the presence of firearms .
Your ilk have banned balls from playing fields all in the name of childhood safety .

lol are you being purposely obtuse or are you really missing what I am speaking about here?

Nice. Go back and read the posts. I haven't made this about you. Please grow some thicker skin and stay on topic. Plus, feel free to change your position or add to it whenever you are done getting upset.
Thank you for the link. I consider it very tragic. Unsupervised 3 year olds should not be anywhere near firearms, kitchen knives, trucks parked on a hill, swimming pools, power saws, railway tracks, matches, bowling balls, golf clubs, etc.

Yup and I can probably find the one where the child got into a running car moved the gear shift and ran over his sister .
Lets ban all automobiles its for the children don't you know .
a ridiculous comparison said without thought...thus meaningless

pfffffft as the example proves... just one of many...do some research and give yourself some credibility
I am simply reminding you that children can come to harm without the presence of firearms .
Another ridiculous statement of the obvious not making your argument any stronger
Your ilk have banned balls from playing fields all in the name of childhood safety
my ilk?.... run along sonny if that's the best you can do...thanks but no thanks.... we were actually having a respectful adult conversation

Yes, it is a reasonable conclusion for someone that was giving me straight answers this morning, but now has derailed the discussion with a day's worth of posts that don't move the discussion forward.

You make some valid points, Sal! However I think there has to be some differentiating. I personally think guns are good, however there is absolutely no place for carelessness, forgetfulness and stupidity in the use and care of guns- as THAT is when the tragedies occur.

I gave my opinion, ... I do not believe all people are careless gun owners and that was never my point as you know but then things got generalized and twisted to suit a mind set as well as personalized so for me the discussion was over at that point.

not to mention, it's off topic... ;-)

you derailed it with your assumptions from the get go, it was never about the police that was your thing not mine and it was assumptive regarding my beliefs... little need to address it as you twisted my post, there was nothing further to discuss.

I know this issue has been discussed before and I will likely earn some "neg rep" for this post, but I feel it necessary to open this suggestion thread.

.... this needs to be sorted.. neg repping because you don't like the response or formulate a well rounded argument is not a reason to neg rep someone ....

This system of neg repping is being used against members who just dislike other members... it has nothing to do with the forum post, it's more about who posted it rather than the content of the post.

Sure, some jerk gives me a neg I'll return the negs 10 fold.. because I try to only give out positive thumbs up...

Can the amount of that can be given out per day be limited?? Forcing people to be more choosey will in turn result in less neg reps for silly reasons.

The difference is that neg rep misuse is malicious and pos rep misuse ia benign.

The neg rep button fuels internet tough guy syndrome and encourages internet hooliganism and is only being used by used by passive aggressive bullies.

i mean, you simply speak up something true and trolls start using thumbs down on you for the love of it
Back to the original topic of this thread, do negative reps get you kicked off here somehow? And if not what difference does it make how many you have? Just a newbie asking a question.

Negative reps do nothing. If you want to let someone know you agree with him/her the "thumbs up" is perfect. If you want a poster to know you disagree with him/her, normally you would tell him/her why.

alternatively, if you dislike, disrespect or even hate like a hater, someone, some goddamn pinhead sh!t-for-brains, think they're a mouthfarter, want to key their e-car, make fun of them in front of their girlfriend, stick your tongue out at them, make them...well, mad...if they made a sarcastic remark to you 7 years ago and you hold a grudge, if they nitpick your spelling, if they think pot is cool and you don't, if they're a heathenous sinner and you a God-fearing pius e-pope, then perhaps you can 'get them back...'show them who's boss'...that sorta thing.

It's all pretty mature and stuff.

Oh, and remember, they don't do anything.

They don't do anything.

not a friggin' thing.

but sometimes you'd think they were akin to some d!ckhead killing your dog, best friend, stealing your job or boning your wife.

You can give a thumbs up to a post you agree with, you can give a thumbs down to a post you don't agree with. Unfortunately, there are some people on here that consider a thumbs down to be the equivalent of dropping your drawers and taking a shyte on their front door step.

I think if all they do is create unlimited threads of little whining babys crying about them, I'm satisfied with them and want to say , they are the best thing this website has going for itself. Think of the thousands of houres of entertainment thumbs down have provided us with already, and the thousands more still they have yet to provide.

I love thumbs down, they are the next best thing since sliced bread.

Actually Boomer, I've changed my mind a bit about the use of "red reps"! They can be a quick method of identifying the idiots on the forum, sort of like when you ask a young kid why they did something, they answser "cuz". -:)

This made my morning!

That was for Locutus ^

From what I can see, nobody knows who gave the thumbs down except the giver and the getter, right? Unless either one exposes it. So....who cares? I think we are all adult enough to decide who we agree with and who we don't.

But if the citizens have no need of guns why do the police ?
It stands to reason if no citizen had a gun the police wouldn't need them .

Because of the plethora of other weapons that people like using on their fellow people. One doesn't need a gun to kill somebody.

Agreed.... I prefer to use a Maul

Babies explode quite interestingly when you use one of these.

Rate this up and I'll know how evil you truly are...... and may qualify to be a part of my new empire.

Rate this down and I'll know who will be the first to be taken out by my empire and face the mighty wrath of my baby whopping Maul!
