Until now, the only dispute Oreos ever sparked was whether to dunk them whole or split.
But the cookie maker set off a furor when it posted a picture of a biscuit with rainbow-coloured filling, seemingly supporting Gay Pride.
The image shows a fake cookie with six layers of cream in rainbow hues and the words "June 25 Pride" and "Proudly support love!"
The rainbow-filled cookie has elicited much hate-filled response.
Since the image was posted to Oreo's Facebook page Monday, it has received more than a quarter-million "likes" and nearly 38,000 comments.
Some people pledged to boycott Oreo.
"Goodbye Oreo...Sad you just offended the majority of your consumer base to appease the few... So will you come out next witha pedophile cookie," Karen Rowley-Buffington said
But the issue is a black and white one, as there are an equal number expressing their unequivocal support.
"Well done for your courage Oreo. In the face of stupidity, bigotry and plain idiocy you have the courage to say what you believe in. And that cookie looks awesome," Sally Shakespeare wrote.
Alex West agreed, saying, "Your guys are awesome for doing this you guys have a customer for life."
With 26 millions fans on its Facebook page, Oreo is one of the most successful brands on the site, according to Adweek.
And, just in case you were hoping to try a rainbow Oreo, the company noted on the image that those colours "do not exist."

Its amazing how sensitive some people are. They should count themselves lucky to have problems like these.

I would liken it more to phobia and paranoia for exactly those reasons.

With a big dollop of not knowing 'what the fuk they're talking about'.

My first reaction to Ms.Karen Rowley-Buffington was to tell the ignorant B*&ch off. What's the point. Even if she claims to have any kind of degree or education, her response is totally incorrect. Pedophiles are predominantly "straight men" .Yes there are gay pedophiles, and straight female teachers too, it's totally sick, but to associate gays is her own misguided bigotry. I have know gay board members for children volunteer services, teachers, police men and woman and , Oh my god, Parents, who teach love and acceptance for ALL. SO, when Ms. Karen Rowley-Buffington has anything to say, take it as her own misguided, uneducated truths. If your going to voice you opinion, at least have the brains to check your facts, first. And, no Mrs. Karen Rowley-Buffington, my gay friends do not want to marry any animals either. They just want to be treated equally, just like you were not a short 100 years ago. Time does make one forget. Thank you Mrs. Karen Rowley-Buffington for giving me one more thing NOT to teach to my daughter. And I will enjoy your Oreo.

You need some education yourself it appears.
Not taking a side here just want to ask you if you would qualify the statement "Pedophiles are predominantly "straight men"? Two wrongs do not make a right. Perhaps one should know the percentage of persons in the human population who are pedophiles. Sexual orientation has nothing to do it and to assume it is more common in straight men is bigoted in itself.

It is nice and laudable to defend what you see as injustice but success means having your facts straight and not descending into a thoughtless rant.
Oh and btw, paragraphs work well to keep your audience interested and encourage debate.

You are wrong. The majority of pedophiles, whether they are homo/hetro/bisexual pedophiles, identify as heterosexual men in the "straight" world. They have male/female relationships and even get married. I had a very "intense" discussion about this on another board a few years ago. If needed, I can dig through the archives to get the studies I quoted.



or.... you could probably just ask Bear or RCS if I am full of shyte or not.

Were the conclusions drawn from studies comparing the 90 some odd percent of straight men to the tinier percentage of gay men and then deriving a percentage of each for comparison? Of course these numbers would be reflected by those convicted also. None of them would lie of course.
I would not say you are full of it, just disagree.[/FONT]
