Yes it's amazing how some people can be so blatantly wrong yet still somehow believe they are right.

Especially when you conveniently leave off the part where the poster you are replying to said nothing about a ceremony and was instead talking about the legal status. But it's not really a surprise you'd need to heavily edit in order to have something to reply to, you are the King of Cut & Paste after all.

Being wrong is what Little Englanders do best.

I wish them well. I truly hope they get everything they desire. Out of the EU, taxes on foreign transactions, racial and religious discrimination, the whole shebang. Then the money will all drain away to Berlin and far, far too late they'll wake up to the fact that without colonies and Nelson's navy, England ain't all that.

Interesting, where in this whole thread did I say I disagree with same sex couples... where..

I stated that I don't agree in a double standard.. Gays want respect for what they believe, and Christians what respect for what they believe... which is Homosexuality is a sin and it is damaging the moral fabric of the USA.

Should we not respect both views equally? However, you keep saying that the Christian view is racist or bigoted.

That's just the way those people want to live, Christians that is..

This is exactly what I was talking about in that quote. It is asinine to equate people simply being who they are with another group actively attacking another group and truing to prevent them from gaining equal rights.

Fighting for your own rights is fundamentally different than fighting against other people's rights.

The gay community doesn't go out and tell people that marrying someone of the opposite sex is wrong, that they are hurting america, and that what they are doing should be illegal. They are telling people that they just want the same rights that everyone else has.

I say anyone who denies the Christians their point of view and way of life is just as bigoted.

Just watch out for the gay mafia, you cross them you'll get whacked, spanked, maybe even sodomized.

Lol, you realize this is a joke, right?

Lots of people disagree with the firefox thing. I disagree with that, but it has nothing to do with anything special about the gay community. People are very reactive against any basic human rights issue. You saw the same thing with Donald Sterling.

With Mozilla, it wasn't "the gay mafia" that took him down, it was the internet mafia. The internet is a great echo chamber for ideas to get out of hand very very quickly. Just look at how many people the internet convicted of the Boston Bombings in the hours after it happened and how that negatively effected some people. The people who care about Mozilla are all disproportionately involved in internet issues and that allowed that to get out of hand very very quickly.

It's not the parade that bugs me. Its the assumption that anybody who does not attend must be a homophobe and/or a bigot. Like the countless stories of non-attendance by the Mayor of Toronto for example. If he is at his cottage, he is at his cottage. Attendance by anybody should not be mandatory.

Well, on the Rob Ford front, we all know that his problems with homosexual people go way way beyond just not wanting to go to the parade.

But as the mayor of Toronto, you are the representative of the city. When you attend pretty much every other cultural event in the city, but refuse to attend one specific one every year, it is an obvious snub against that community.

And lets be clear, it isn't like his cottage thing is a real excuse. Pride is a week long event and he has refused to attend a single event within that week ever despite countless invitations. All he has done is shown up unannounced a few times at the flag raising that happens to be 10 feet from his office.

Considering this is Canada, tell me what "rights" gays don't have? I'll tell you what "rights" it appears Christians and Christian institutions don't have after you tell me what rights gays don't have.

The gay community doesn't go out and tell people that marrying someone of the opposite sex is wrong, that they are hurting america, and that what they are doing should be illegal. They are telling people that they just want the same rights that everyone else has.

Which they have. People can mouth off all they want. It doesn't take anything away from anyone. What is disgusting, is the fact that people are losing their jobs and lively hoods for voicing their opinions and beliefs. That is no different than a LGBT losing their job and livleyhood because of who they are, and here you and paradox are cheering that on. Hypocrites.

and the "gay community" has the right to not vote for him. Attacking him for what he does and doesn't do, is again, being hypocritical.

Lol, did you even read the first post? This happened in the US, where the rights of gay people are not the same as other people in many states, and there are active efforts to further limit them.

Hypocrites.

As mentioned above, people are actively trying to limit the rights of gay people in the US, so this "mouthing off" does have a real impact on the rights of gay people.

Losing your job over attacking a group of people is clearly different than losing your job over simply being who you are.

We are not talking about anyone losing their job simply for being religious and living that way. We are talking about people who chose to publicly advocate against a group of people. When you start making public statements like that, people who don't want to be associated with those views have all the right in the world to disassociate themselves with you.

As I have pointed out countless times, simply advocating for equal rights for yourself is fundamentally different than going out and trying to limit the rights of other people. Just being who you are is different than advocating against another group.

and the "gay community" has the right to not vote for him. Attacking him for what he does and doesn't do, is again, being hypocritical.

No it isn't. Any group is well within their right to comment on how the mayor is doing his job. Everyone pays his salary and he represents the city we live in.

Many of you seem to have this crazy idea that being homosexual and being homophobic are just two ends of the same spectrum. So somehow expressing homophobic views is just as valid as simply being gay.

That is wrong. The other end of the spectrum is being straight, being homophobic is a completely unrelated issue of bigotry and intolerance.

Lol, what does that even mean?

If Christian people decide that their faith means they have to be against gay people, then does that mean that simply being gay and wanting rights makes you inherently anti Christian?

What "anti christian" things have you seen? Was any of it not directly connected to those Christians speaking out against other groups or fighting to limit the rights of other groups?

Doesn't matter if they are 'minor' and have 'few adherents'. They're religions and just as legitimate as the "big three". This statement pretty much proves how much of holier than thou (no pun) a**hole you are.
... don't answer that.

Most people on the planet are either Christians. Muslims or Jewish. Therefore, most people on the planet are of a religion which teaches that homosexuality is a sin.

Why should a Christian country like Canada, whose inhabitants overwhelmingly are of a religion which teaches that homosexuality is a sin, introduce gay marriage just to suit a few hundred Eckankars, Jainists, Shintos, Tains, Zoroastrians, Neo-Pagans and Jedis whose religion may be in favour of gay marriage?

You're a typical Western liberal - you believe your whole country, culture, beliefs and way of living should bend over backwards just to suit the tiny minority. No Muslim country would bend over backwards to accomodate Guardian-reading, Western liberals like you, so why do you Guardian-reading, Western liberals want to ride roughshod over your country's customs and beliefs just to suit a few thousands people?

Gay Agenda attacks Benham Brothers after Pro-Christian Statements

The Fudge Packers are at it again, attacking anyone who feels NORMAL Marriages Man & Woman are Gods way.

Benham brothers lose HGTV show after 'anti-gay' remarks - CNN.com

Maybe we should let Islam have a crack at this :)

I find this entire OP offensive.

There is no gay agenda except in the fact gay people want to live like everyone else.
How is that an agenda?

There are Christians that consider gay rights the work of the devil.
The Christian community needs to come to terms with the reality of being a human being.

Even the new pope is lightening up on the anti gay propaganda.

The fact people refer to a gay agenda shows their ignorance and their own agenda.

Christianity is so far from the origins.

Christ went the whole route and died on a cross for his ideals.
Buddhist monks burn themselves in the streets in order to make an awareness for their causes.

Somehow this man who died on a cross got into the hands of power and changed the entire paradigm of what God is.
Not the man himself but the people in power after his death, subjugated the masses with this man made paradigm of God.
Any semblance of even thinking about what God is could get you killed at one time, other than what the so called Christians would push down your throats .

And today Christians hold unto this atrocity and consider it righteous.
The fact we have gay marriage is a sign that Christian hold on our lives is at an end.

We have lived for thousands of years under this barbaric rule.

The best thing any christian can do , is leave the church .

The hoops a gay person needs to go through in order to call themselves a Christian is just a waste of energy and their time.

Why should a Christian country like Canada,
Obviously you don't live here. You are no longer aloud to say this publicly in Canada as a politician. It's frowned upon in most circles I associate as well, for reasons other than political correctness. ;)

whose inhabitants overwhelmingly are of a religion which teaches that homosexuality is a sin, introduce gay marriage just to suit a few hundred Eckankars, Jainists, Shintos, Tains, Zoroastrians, Neo-Pagans and Jedis whose religion may be in favour of religion?
Modern day christians have a lot of hoops to jump through.

You are the one trying to impose your narrow views on everyone else.

A large majority of Canadians support same sex marriage. Between 63 and 66 percent according to studies done over the past few years.

Canada is in no way a "Christian country".

Doesn't matter what religion people are, there is no one religion that dictates our society. There are other religions that also teach homosexualy is NOT a sin and are just as legitimate as the "big three". Considering the bias and corruption in the those big three as well, it's a wonder they're still "top" in the world.

BTW, which version of these are you talking about, since there are various versions of them.

Why should a Christian country like Canada...
Canada is not a Christian country. But carry on.

...whose inhabitants overwhelmingly are of a religion which teaches that homosexuality is a sin, introduce gay marriage just to suit a few hundred Eckankars, Jainists, Shintos, Tains, Zoroastrians, Neo-Pagans and Jedis whose religion may be in favour of gay marriage?

Few hundred... a huge understatement too. But again, doesn't matter, you canNOT favor one religion over another. Unless you want to be like the Muslims you hate.

You're a typical Western liberal - you believe your whole country, culture, beliefs and way of living should bend over backwards just to suit the tiny minority.

Actually, no, I don't. But nice assumption on your part.

No Muslim country would bend over backwards to accomodate Guardian-reading, Western liberals like you, so why do you Guardian-reading, Western liberals want to ride roughshod over your country's customs and beliefs just to suit a few thousands people?

Guardian-reading? Don't know what you mean by that but I guess you mean it to be an insult?

This isn't a muslim country, this is Canada, a free country unlike a lot of Muslim countries which are not. Thus we CAN choose to have such things as gay marriage, despite what the Minority of bigots want. As it is, we've had it for several years now and we're doing fine. No one's marriage has burst into flames over gays being married, the sky hasn't fallen, Canada isn't suddenly a third world country...

Chicken Little's like you need to take your witch hunts elsewhere. Maybe the same place where others of you kind live, like the Middle East.

Bill Maher: "There is a Gay Mafia, If You Cross Them You Get Wacked" - YouTube

Just watch out for the gay mafia, you cross them you'll get whacked, spanked, maybe even sodomized.

You want Gays to be unseen.
They are destroying the moral fabric. What moral fabric did they, as a persecuted minority for hundreds of years, destroy.
You are assigning blame where it does not belong.
I am a Christian and I along with the majority of Christians in Canada have no issue with Gay Marriage.
And note that in the US the laws against Gay Marriage, and other laws that are out right discriminatory and target Gays, like Arizona nearly passed are being thrown out as against the Constitution.

You should move on up to the NT.
