and yes it is hard to conduct a proper thc blood test....just smelling the stuff causes an antibody produced....at least thats what i read back in the 70's....who was the kid from BC that had his gold medal .... Regliatti....he proved he wasn't smoking the stuff....

i dunno ya want to be a pot head ...don't take jobs that put people in jeopardy...you think it's harmless fun and the next day yer fit as a fiddle fine....i don't want you ferrying me on a govt. boat....go get another job....From personnal expierence i feel different the next day no matter how much i smoked....

REALLY????8O

Indignation? What lines did you sniff between? I'm not defending anyone who's toking on the job. I'm raisinf a concern that random drug checks can and have incriminated people who are doing something on their OWN time. I believe if you're going to use (anything) use responsibly.

People here are "upset" at the proposal of random drug tests....you yourself don`t like the idea becase THC hangs on...... and they are getting upset with the company and the TSB. I say you all should be pointing the finger and getting upset with the people that have NOT been indulging responsibly. THEY are the reason for this present situation.

The Transportation Safety Board issued a warning note to BC Ferries saying it had learned that several crew members on the ferry Queen of the North, which sank last year after running into an island, "regularly smoked cannabis between shifts, both on board and off the vessel".

i'm worried about the mongoose with not really that much going for them to start that is in charge of a vessel ...ya dig....the mongoose ruins it for everyone but thats our society and why we need semi draconian laws...

I would be more worried about someone who gets smashed on booze the previous night, opposed to a toker.

Hangover is a lot worse than a bit of medicine head. I'd be more worried if the bridge watch was stoned. I'm sure the guy who folds the sheets isn't going to endanger many lives whether he puffs a discrete li'l spliff while ashore or huffs a big fat one on the poop deck (off duty, of course)

Someone smelled weed so the brains went to mush....

may i ask you....if you get high the night before...when you awake you feel zero difference....be honest now....

I don't always get high when I smoke, just like I don't always get drunk when I drink. But to answer your question, when I get high, I find there is very little difference in the morning compared to a night where I did not smoke. Nothing a coffee won't fix ;)

on board does not equal on the job. They probably have 2 crews running the ferry, each with a 12 hour shift. Being on board does not mean one is on duty.

ahhhhh you don't always inhale either....i would like to understand....r u saying the quality of the weed was like oragano? Or you just did not really want to smoke it just taste it....this actually brings up the issue that i can have a glass a wine and feel zilch...where as who actually smokes weed without getting high...i don't understand the human concept...

If you're using for medicinal purpose, you're not huffing more than a few tokes. You build up a tolerance just the same as you build up a tolerance for Tylenol 3. The odd time, you catch a buzz if it's a bit higher on the THC scale. That's just God's way of saying "HI!"

If you're using it just to get high, you're doing the same as someone who drinks just to get drunk. That's part of the reason they don't want it approved for medical use - that and the pharmaceutical companies who can't afford the competition.

I worked for a kiwi company and while in New Zealand they had a wine trolley in the lunchroom for the emplyees to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with lunch.

THe company I work for now has a fully stocked beer fridge. If we want a beer we're allowed to have one with lunch.

Except for my current job, most employers in North America are way strict. Europe it's totally different.

Oh no, I ALWAYS inhale.;-) Also, I wouldn't know anything about crappy bud. I'm a stickler for quality over quantity. So to that end, sometimes I smoke only enough to get a mild tingle. Rarely do I smoke enough to make me squint.

what would be good is if there was a test to see if people are stoned, or impaired in anyway, rather than trying to test for substances particularly. That's the issue here. Most of us have no big beef with someone who wants to smoke pot. What we have the beef with is someone who is stoned and has our lives in their hands.

If you can't tell by two eyes that look like peeholes in a snowbank or the slurred words or the giggles, you go roadside. Cops do that every time they pull someone suspicious over - touch your nose, walk the line. Let's smell your breath. It's squad car time....

I've had conversations with cops when I was blitzed. Back when I was 16 and didn't really care too much about anything. Working at a service station, Monday from 4--12 was my shift, so boring...They never knew:lol:
