We learned two interesting pieces of information from Thursday’s national defence committee hearings on Parliament Hill looking into North Korea.

One was very bad news, the other was somewhat good.

The testimony of the top-ranking Canadian stationed at the NORAD base in Colorado left parliamentarians speechless. Lt.-Gen. Pierre St. Amand was asked whether or not he believed the United States would shoot down a missile if it was heading towards Canada.

“I’m being told in Colorado Springs that U.S. policy is not to defend Canada,” he said. “That’s fact I can bring to the table.”

But what a troubling fact it is. This is all because while Canada is a part of NORAD, that just means we collectively watch the skies together. The shooting down of missiles is what the American ballistic missile defence (BMD) system does – which we’ve repeatedly chose not to join.

(What a feeble JOKE on us Cdns! LIE-berals have scorned any real effort to defend Canada for decades- with Our Pet Pierre Trudope actually and repeatedly insisting we should unilaterally disarm ourselves so nobody would see us as a threat! Not that it would have stopped Soviet missiles from flying over Canada in event of a nuclear war!)


First, it was Brian Mulroney taking a pass on Ronald Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative popularly called “Star Wars”, then it was Paul Martin declining to join George W. Bush’s BMD version.

(Its understandable that Cdn govt would not wish to pour money down a dark hole that might or might not produce a usable defensive weapon! Neither Mulroney nor Martin can really be condemned for their lack of computer knowledge. But we can say nasty things about LIE-beral prime minister Chretien as it was during his reign of 3 terms that Cdn military really rusted out!)

(The flagship of our Atlantic fleet was towed back to harbour last year after yet another engine fire and is not fit to even take tourists out whale watching on a sunny afternoon now! With other ships of the Cdn fleet in nearly as bad condition and LIE-berals in no hurry to remedy the situation in spite of Canada having the longest coastline on the planet. Chretien also reigned when Ministry of Transport decided Cdn artillery was so rusted out it could no longer be towed safely on public roads. It was Chretien that had to admit that Cdn CF 18 fighters were essentially impotent during the Kosovo mess as that other LIE-beral Pierre Trudope had not bothered to buy bomb racks for them so the old planes could not even drop `dumb` bombs much less smart ones! And it was Chretien who told us there was no point in going out to BUY bomb racks as the communications systems in the CF 18`s were so obsolete that other NATO planes could not talk to them in the air! And it was Chretien who paid out that five hundred million dollar penalty for the privilege of cancelling the badly needed EH 101 helicopter deal arranged by Conservatives. And it was Chretien who later simply shrugged when a passenger plane went down in northern Manitoba and newspaper reporters in a rented helicopter got to the site a day BEFORE Cdn air force rescue did since the obsolete Sea King helicopters the air force was forced to use could not safely fly so far or so fast! And it was Chretien who ended up buying alternative helicopters that turned out to have badly designed and flawed tail rotors- a costly problem the EH 101 did NOT have!)

We chose to take a pass on it. Now the U.S. might very well shoot down a missile heading to Canada, but it’s just not their job. They’re tasked with protecting their own homeland.

Now that North Korea has intercontinental ballistic missiles and is likely able to place miniaturized nuclear warheads on them, the calculus around BMD has changed. Canada needs to seriously consider joining.

(LIE-berals have hidden behind United States military for decades and yet LIE-berals do not understand why Yankees treat our soveriegnty as something of a joke!)

The good news, courtesy of the testimony of a senior foreign affairs public servant, is that North Korea’s impression of Canada ranges from neutral to friendly. We learned this after a delegation visited the hermit kingdom to broker the release of Canadian prisoner Pastor Lim.

While Kim Jong-un and Donald Trump exchange fiery rhetoric, there is an opportunity for Canada to work behind the scenes to spread goodwill as the world works towards a diplomatic solution. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau ought to seize this opportunity.

It could be Canada’s “Nixon in China” moment, where back-door diplomacy transformed a near non-existent relationship into a productive one.

On these fronts, Canada should proceed to both protect itself and be a force for peace?

Vancouver imam urges sending weapons to Palestinians to fight 'Zionists'

The imam of a Vancouver mosque is under fire for calling on Muslims to send “money, weapons and expertise” to Palestinians to fight “Zionists” in Israel.
B’nai B’rith Canada, a Jewish organization, on Tuesday released videos in which an imam at a Kingsway mosque, Tarek Ramadan, is seen referring to Israelis as “an impure gang” and Zionists as the “worst of mankind.”
Recorded this summer, the video shows Ramadan calling on his congregation to “fight, by any means necessary” against Zionists in a jihad, or holy struggle. “We are not going to be shy or wishy-washy about it.”
The video of Ramadan’s English-language talk was obtained by an international organization called the Middle East Media Research Institute, which often exposes hate speech. One of its directors is Reid Morgan, former director of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
B’nai B’rith is calling on Ramadan to be dismissed from his position and has filed a complaint with the Vancouver Police Department.
It also wants an inquiry held into the actions of the Muslim Association of Canada, which operates the mosque and which B’nai B’rith says shared the “offensive” sermon on its YouTube channel.
In his sermon, Ramadan says that the famous Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem, which is patrolled by Israeli security officials, “should only be in the custody of the Muslims. It should not be in the custody of the Christians, the Jews or anybody else.” Zionists, Ramadan said, have “no holiness, no respect for anybody.”
Representatives of the Muslim Association of Canada could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Previous Postmedia articles have tied MAC, which has many mosques across Canada, to Hamas and other militant Middle Eastern organizations.
Ramadan himself was in the news in early 2016 after a driver pepper-sprayed refugees standing outside his mosque, at 2122 Kingsway. At the time Ramadan told the Canadian public that it “doesn’t have to be afraid of Muslims.”
The Muslim Association of Canada mosque is not a member of the B.C. Muslim Association, the main umbrella group for roughly 40,000 Sunni Muslims on the West Coast of Canada.
In a statement Wednesday, B’nai B’rith’s chief executive officer, Michael Mostyn, said, “This is an extremely serious development, especially in light of similar incidents at other mosques in Vancouver and across Canada.”
Ramadan’s controversial remarks follow a report in September about Canadian Revenue Agency allegations that a Port Coquitlam mosque, called Masjid Al-Hidayah and Islamic Cultural Centre, was “controlled or influenced” by a Qatari foundation that helped finance Hamas, which the Canadian government has declared a terrorist organization.
B’nai B’rith also filed a complaint this summer against a Jordanian cleric in Montreal, who was recorded reciting the following verse in Arabic: “O Muslim, O servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.” Montreal police issued an arrest warrant for Muhammad bin Musa Al-Nasr.
In addition, B’nai B’rith pointed to the case of a Ryerson University teaching assistant, Ayman Elkasrawy, who was dismissed this year from his job after making offensive comments during a prayer service at Masjid Toronto.
In his Arabic-language sermon, B’nai B’rith Canada provided evidence Elkasrawy called on Muslims to “purify the Al-Aqsa Mosque from the filth of the Jews.”
Such Canadian cases echo similar exposes in the US, many of which involve MEMRI obtaining and translating videos of controversial speeches and sermons by Muslim clerics.*
While many people, including New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, have praised MEMRI for exposing hate speech, critics have said the Washington, DC-based organization over-focuses on extremist Muslims and largely ignores the work of moderate Muslims.
Metro Vancouver is home to more than 70,000 Muslims who follow various streams of the religion.

“Padmavati” is based on a 16th century Sufi epic poem, “Padmavat,” in which a brave and beautiful Rajput queen chose to kill herself rather than be captured by the Muslim sultan of Delhi, Allaudin Khilji. Over centuries of its retelling, the epic has come to be seen as history, despite little evidence.
Padukone plays Padmini, the legendary queen who committed “jauhar,” the medieval Rajput practice in which female royals walked into funeral fires to embrace death over the dishonour of being taken captive.
“Padmavati” has been in trouble since the beginning of the year, with fringe groups in the western state of Rajasthan attacking the film’s set, threatening to burn down theatres that show it and even physically attacking Bhansali in January.

I didn’t know whether to laugh at the sheer gall of would-be federal NDP leader Jagmeet Singh or to cry at how easily the oppression handwringers rushed to condemn someone as racist for merely expressing her right to free speech.

I’m talking about the woman, Jennifer Bush, who attended a recent Singh meet-and-greet where she dared question him about his support of Sharia law and M-103, the controversial federal motion passed in late March which condemns Islamophobia and all forms of systematic racism.

(Gosh! A WOMAN who is worried that she will become a second class citizen just as soon as LIE-berals and their less intelligent cousins of NDP import enough Muslim voters, wants to know about the Singh stand on Sharia Law- the Muslim dictatorship that will prevent a woman from even leaving the house without male permission AND a suitable male escort! WHY would she be worried?)

Subsequent to that, Singh posted a response on social media that included these gems:

“I didn’t answer the question (meaning Jen Bush’s question) because my response to Islamophobia has always been ... that ‘hate is wrong’.”

(So he is using the same key word- Islamophobia- as any hypocrite LIE-beral would do- to denigrate and insult any person who fears more Muslim terror!)

His response gets even better: “Once we say it’s OK to hate someone based on their religion, we’re also opening the door to hate based on race, gender, sexuality and more ... it’s important that we stand united against all forms of hate.”

I repeat: Singh said “it’s important that we stand united against all forms of hate.”

(The response by Singh and LIE-berals to so called islamophobia is reverse racist in the extreme! We do not HATE bank robbers but we do not let them roam freely in our society either! And we do not hate drug addicts but we do not loan them our car or credit cards either! And we jail serial killers who have the blood of multiple victims on their hands- just like Muslim terrorists!)

I frankly don’t care whether Singh is Sikh or Muslim. What I do care about is his highly selective definition of hate and his double standard when it comes to free speech.

(I say that selective and ill defined Islamophobia definition of hate- which puts forward strong preference for dangerous immigration policies- is poison! I have said before that LIE-berals seem hell bent on using anti Islamophobia laws to silence any critic of their policies- no matter how logical or valid is that critical complaint- and NDP has now joined the ranks of reverse racists! Reason and logic are being trashed by desperate Ndp and LIE-beral politicians who view getting elected as being a far more important goal than managing our national security and our economy in any sensible fashion!)

Evidently the deputy leader of the Ontario NDP didn’t feel the least bit compelled last December to “stand united” with all members of the Ontario legislature against the hateful Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.

Singh was not only one of the few MPPs to vote against Motion 36, which rejected the differential treatment of Israel, including the BDS movement.

(The sad reality is that our chattering classes are condemning the ONLY genuine democracy in the middle east by sneering at Israel!)

He also spoke out against the motion, using the predictable weasel words employed by the left (particularly politicians on the left) that any such motion would impact on the “free expression of dissent.”

(Our anointed leaders see that votes may be won from catering to the growing numbers of Muslims in Canada by smearing Israel but they do their bigotry in a sneaky way to avoid being labeled as bigoted against Jews- just another little bit of duplicity from our two faced `leaders`!)


Well hello! Mr. Singh, what do you think M-103 is all about and what do you think you’ve done in the past few days by reducing Bush’s legitimate questions to “hateful and Islamophobic” comments — a depiction absolutely lapped up by the left-wing media?

(The LIE-beral —103 motion is on the way to becoming law- which will silence anybody who wants to talk about Muslim terror- no matter the validity!)

That notwithstanding, BDS — which selectively targets Israel with economic sanctions and boycotts — is nothing more than anti-Semitism and intolerance towards Jews shrouded in the guise of the criticism of Israel, the Jewish state.

(Certainly the largest number of hate crimes committed in Canada in recent years has been against Jewish citizens and one may honestly ask if much of that hate is being generated by our newly arrived Muslim `Cdns`? One crime that WAS proven and an arrest made, occurred some years back in Montreal- in which a `new Cdn` from Iran burned down a Jewish school. And what of the recent `hate crime` in Oshawa- in which a Muslim complained to cops that he was targeted and assaulted by a white guy- and the charges were later dropped as the Muslim apparently made up his complaint! Muslims understand the politics of LIE-beral bigotry as well as anybody and they have recognized that making a mountain out of a mole hill will bring political support from craven Cdn politicians seeking to BUY support at any price!)

Toronto’s Friends of Simon Wiesenthal Centre recognizes that as does B’nai Brith, as did most of those who voted in favour of MPP Gila Martow’s motion last December.

Evidently, Singh’s call to be “united against hate” didn’t apply, either, last summer when he sponsored a press conference in the Queen’s Park media studio held by assorted anti-Israel activists and 9/11 Truthers in support of Mississauga Catholic teacher Nadia Shoufani — who was suspended from her duties after making inflammatory comments about Israel at the 2016 anti-Israel hatefest, the Al Quds Day rally.

(Shoufani was apparently working for the Catholic school board when she made the bigoted and racist remarks and is on paid leave while the board tries to figure out what to do with her. And the paid leave has given her time to pen other anti Israel remarks that are offensive to many Cdns who do not see Israel as an object of hate!)

In fact, at that press conference, when I suggested that the anti-Israel remarks of those who spoke were hateful, my right to free speech was attacked and jeered — those insults continuing after the press conference was over.

I don’t recall Singh standing up against the hate spewed at me that day. I suspect, like most politicians, Singh simply hoped that no one would notice he sponsored those hatemongers.

When I tried to reach out to Singh’s federal leadership campaign office Monday to give him an opportunity to comment, I was told at first that he would “not be available” in time for my deadline and was referred to the social media statement I already had.

When I pressed further, I was informed an “interview can’t work out” and was thanked for reaching out.

So pleased to learn that Singh is not only a hypocrite and highly selective about who he feels deserves not to be oppressed but a coward as well.

As we all know- politicians have been known to exaggerate- but now it seems they are going out of their way to HIDE their true feelings and beliefs- at a time when terrorists are industriously seeking ways to harm us! Indonesian forces still doing virginity tests on female recruits

JAKARTA, Indonesia — Indonesia’s military and police continue to perform abusive virginity tests on female recruits three years after the World Health Organization declared they had no scientific validity, an international human rights group said Wednesday.
Human Rights Watch said senior Indonesian police and military officers have told it that security forces still impose the “cruel and discriminatory tests,” which are carried out under the guise of psychological examinations for mental health and morality reasons.
“The Indonesian government’s continuing tolerance for abusive ‘virginity tests’ by the security forces reflects an appalling lack of political will to protect the rights of Indonesian women,” said Nisha Varia, women’s rights advocacy director at Human Rights Watch.
The group called for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to order the national police chief and military commander to ban the practice.
The testing includes the invasive “two-finger test” to determine whether female applicants’ hymens are intact, which WHO in its 2014 clinical guidelines for health care of sexually abused women said lacks any scientific basis.
Indonesia’s military did not respond to a request for comment. Three years ago it defended the practice as safeguarding morality.
Police spokesman Setyo Wasisto said the force stopped virginity tests three years ago. Currently, he said, health checks for male and female recruits include tests for venereal diseases and only female medical staff test female recruits.
Human Rights Watch said it found that applicants who were deemed to have failed the virginity test were not necessarily penalized but all of the women it spoke with described the test as painful, embarrassing, and traumatic.
Human Rights Watch has also documented the use of virginity tests by security forces in Egypt, India and Afghanistan and criticized calls for virginity tests for Indonesian school girls.
It said all three branches of the Indonesian military have imposed the tests for decades and in some circumstances also extended the requirement to the fiancees of military officers.
