You're right, for some reason I thought it was 6.
"New (and returning) residents are required to complete a wait period consisting of the balance of the month in which residence in British Columbia is established, plus two months before benefits can begin. The date residency is considered to have been established is determined by the Ministry of Health based on a number of factors, including the type of immigration status held. For some persons the wait period doesn’t start when they arrive in the province - it starts later. For example, a person who arrives as a tourist or visitor may later receive a change in immigration status in Canada that qualifies the person for MSP coverage."
What if that represents what a balanced person looks like? One that is not easily fooled into seeing just one side of the coin.I'm starting to think that you and Cannut are two of a kind
You both like to argue for nothing!
So.......carry on
I went through the process twice in the past 2 years.
It sucked having to start paying for health care in BC and 65% more for vehicle insurance even with a topped out safe driver discount.

Why did you have to pay for health care in BC?
So when are you moving back home ?BC has a big problem with extended care because people who never lived here retire here and use our pool of money.
Typically someone will work in Alberta and pay into Alberta for their whole working life and then retire to BC in their waning years when they start to use the healthcare system a lot more. Its a complex thing to get the money to the people who need it where they need it.
I thought there was a 6 month residency requirement?
Big whoop. How much do they contribute in six months?

CTF had an article on this out a week or so ago.
Many of them go thru life spending like there is no tomorrow, then they expect the government to look after them when they retire,
Many seniors are house rich, but cash poor. If the housing market bursts, there will be a lot of shiftless millennials who will actually have to work hard for a living instead of coasting as their inheritance will be gone.

Can't say I'm surprised that seniors don't want to discuss these issues. I'd be uncomfortable as well if I was a senior and spent all my time talking up my accomplishments and ignoring the damage done
I never knew pension income was tax free.
Where is the bottle depot's finest fiscal conservative and financial genius to explain this?
...
The government didn't charge enough for CPP etc; while health costs and life expectancy rose,
CPP rates of paying in didn't rise fast enough or high enough.
Because that would cost votes.
Fiscal Conservatives don't flit off down to Arizona a couple of times a year for a golf game! They go to the local driving range or Par 3 Course.
