SO2... converted to aerosols. Hint: cooling effect..... I applaud your designs on geo-engineering a solution to bring forward a progressively greater level of atmospheric sulphate aerosols to match and counter-balance the warming impact of rising CO2 levels. You just multiply 15 lbs/square inch by the surface area of the Earth for a rough number (4*pi*r^2). Doubling the CO2 would raise the tropospheric temperature about 1 deg C, ignoring feedback effects.

Pre-industrial CO2: 280 ppm
Current CO2: 396 ppm
Observed temperature change in that time: 0.8 deg C
Based on logarithmic reponse of radiative forcing to CO2, the model shows that the increase in CO2 should have resulted in: 0.5 deg C.
