What will the S02 produced right along side with CO2 from emissions do?

SO2... converted to aerosols. Hint: cooling effect..... I applaud your designs on geo-engineering a solution to bring forward a progressively greater level of atmospheric sulphate aerosols to match and counter-balance the warming impact of rising CO2 levels. Besides everyone knows that "acid rain" thingee was just a massive conspiracy for wealth distribution to developing countries! You betcha!

And that still will not change anything. There's this weird thing with the deniers I like to call the Inverse Tinkerbell Theory: "If everybody doesn't believe it, then it won't be true!"

You fail to consider the lack of faith generated in the establishment these last few decades cultivated by similar dire conditions elsewhere on the Glob also represented as requiring immediate tax attention. see three decades of Time Mag covers Meanwhile the Banker problem, root of all others, goes unaddressed and they do actually kill Polar bears and anything else that's gets in their way.

Who knows?

It doesn't matter because failing to believe in it is not going to stop carbon dioxide from accumulating in the atmosphere and emitting longwave radiation back to the surface of the earth. If the deniers effectively stop any response to climate change, all that will happen is that the truth will become apparent sooner than it otherwise might have.

Do you happen to know the combined weight of the earths atmosphere?

Thankyou anyway I looked it up msef The total mass of Earth’s atmosphere is about 5.5 quadrillion tons, or roughly one millionth of Earth’s mass.

CO2 seems to be unimaginably powerful stuff.

You just multiply 15 lbs/square inch by the surface area of the Earth for a rough number (4*pi*r^2). Doubling the CO2 would raise the tropospheric temperature about 1 deg C, ignoring feedback effects.

It's in track so far.

Pre-industrial CO2: 280 ppm
Current CO2: 396 ppm

Observed temperature change in that time: 0.8 deg C

Based on logarithmic reponse of radiative forcing to CO2, the model shows that the increase in CO2 should have resulted in: 0.5 deg C.

anyone have the CO2 levels at the peak of the Industrial Revolution when coal use and production were at it's peak?
