Northern Ontario,
These are his posts in this thread, all statements supported by the article. You stated that :

That is a statement made as if fact. Not stated as an opinion. So, again I ask, prove your statement that "Ruff" made statements with no proof. I say, in this instance, it is you.
OKay you win!

Re: General Leslie Moving Expenses

but of course he is a liberal and entitled to his entitlements .

No- Real estate fees eat up the largest amount. He did not move his family on several occasions.
Soldiers, retired have 1 last move which must be taken withing 3 years.
In his career, it meant moving every few years or so.
How would you like that.

Well, apparently those in the DND do.

Correct- many will purchase a home close to their work. In Edmonton that is the north side - St Albert etc close to the base- Upon retiring, you land a job on the south side - What would you consider doing?
Moving closer to work is one option.

Getting a free move to different parts of the country every few years is a hell of a good deal. Almost everyone else below the executive level has to pay their own freight.

Free move- Nope - DND posted him.
Many companies in fact offer better benefits than DND.
Now consider when you had kids, moving them every 2 years.

I didn't say the group had self respect. I said it was made up of adults. Do you have something to add to this thread or are you, like Das, just a troll?

What would you know about a group made up of adults? Before calling someone else a "troll" you might want to take a close look at yourself.

Buddy signed-up knowing that he would be heavily exposed to that lifestyle.

At $70k every 2 years, the DND would have offered a host of 'free' homes for staffers to live in without cost.

The numbers just don't add up to a realistic situation

Without ALL of the facts, it's very hard to ascribe "entitlement" mentality to armed forces personnel regardless of rank.

Example; brother, a chief ERA warrant officer RCN assigned to oversee parts of procurement and installation of upper deck machinery for Tribal class frigate program was posted from Victoria B.C. to Montreal PQ. His house realty fees, moving costs, air fare for his wife and mileage expenses for him driving a vehicle across, realty fees for purchase of home in Pierrefonds Mnt'l. were all covered.

Within a week after his arrival, it became apparent he was to perform the bulk of his duties in an office in St. Catherines On. and was expected to commute on a weekly basis with costs being reimbursed for flights or whatever, whereupon he suggested it would have made more sense to locate him there and he could file electronic reports and attend periodically required meetings in Mntl. instead.

What did our intrepid Gov't. do? Why they rented him an apartment in St.Catherines within walking distance of his office and paid the monthly rent while he rented out his house in Pierrefonds. They (Gov't. DND) can clusterflop the most simple of arrangements through bureaucratic bungling but the individual affected should not be to blame nor should they experience any financial loss if being moved at the behest of the gov't.

Without knowing whether this move was "suggested" for some 'post retirement' consultancy position we cannot presume to judge.

Him and Ruff deserve each other, they both make statements with no proof and are peeved when bullshyte is called....

I hear you. Ruff, I can tolerate, once in a blue moon he comes up with something sensible. I might not always agree with his criticisms, but I can understand his thinking. He just needs to fine tune it a bit!

And showing that the bureaucracy is not on board with the government's goal of eliminating the deficit.
As has often been said DND does not need more money they just have to learn how to control their spending habits.

Leslie wanted cut in contracting out- it increased- soldier training has been cut. A few years back the ratio of Officers to enlisted was 1 for every 5-7. What does that tell you?

Interesting that Leslie strongly recommended eliminating waste in the DND, yet is entitled to a $73,000 moving expense.

Typical socialist hypocrisy

No- An earned benefit- He served 35 years. If you follow the history of benefits for the Military, the Military was always last to receive such benefits.

So, poor Leslie is a victim here and there should be absolutely any form of public knowledge of this expenditure; but Duffy should be lynched.

How quaint

Nope- Every soldier that served is.
I stated clearly the Senators should not be suspended as their was no due process, that the Police investigation should be allowed to continue to its logical conclusion.
