Spade - Bush states and read the reports from his Military commanders - They did not want war - they know it will spread across the Mid east - interrupt oil - economic downturns - and all the lives lost are the first to be counted. - So Assange can say what he wants.

As to dip;omacy - In my opinion Iran has been stalling for time. No more no less than that. I hope a solution is found outside of War. But i wonder if Iran gives a damm.

''read up on the recent reports''

I have. In fact we have discussed this on other threads. To this day no proof has been given which would show that Iran has violated international law. True, the pro war Jersusalem Post and Fox networks have continued to allege violations, but no actual evidence has been given. This is the same pattern shown by the pro war crowd in the leadup to Bush's invasion of Iraq.

You must understand that you must given tangible proof that the law has been violated in order to justify international action. Merely asserting over and over again that a violation exists is not sufficient proof of anything. You do not need any better example than Bush's war on Iraq.

You must understand that this is not a court of law, nor a police matter. In order to justify international action, the nations involved need only be convinced that a threat to them exists.

The war in Iraq was entirely justified by Saddam's own actions.

Death to tyrants.

That sounds like the rantings of a tyrant.

Iran needs nukes to protect themselves from Imperialist Amerikkka.

Just take a look at Iraq..

Iraq....you mean that place that used to be controled by a fascist dictator???

The guy, whathisname,....sounds like So Damn Insane....that murdered about 300,000 of his own people?

You guys hate The USA so much it pushes you over the line into the arms of the real bad guys........that would hang you up by your eyelids and kick you in the nuts until you blinked in a millisecond.....just before they stoned you to death.

Tell me something;

would you rather be a dissident in Iran, or in the United States?

would you rather be a homosexual in Iran, or in the United States?

For that matter, would you rather be a woman in Iran, or in the United States?

Hmmmm?

No dodging the question.

that was fine when they overthrew Saddam, although they only did it for their own means and couldn't care less about the Iraqi citizens. otherwise they'd have overthrew him long before 2003, instead of supporting him. but then they stayed in Iraq and frustrated Iraqis further, and now turned it into a dystopia worse than Saddam ever could have done, well done U.S.A.

How is any of this even revelant? How do America's grotesque crimes in the middle east have anything to do with how another country is run by it's own laws? Let them run their country the way they want to and stay the **** OUT!

nationalist goof, being critical of your own government and their allies doesn't make you less patriotic. ignoring their crimes however makes you human garbage.

You will get no argument from me.....the Coalition should have rid themselves of Saddam in 1991. It is a disgrace that they did not, and Bush's manipulation in the 2003 war was largely a case of unfinished business left by Daddy Bush.

Ahhhhhh..............you need take a slightly different view of history.....Rome was not built in a day. Give it 20 years, then tell me Iraq is worse off without the Ba athist Party rule........

Well, there is a valid argument that we should all just stay the hell out of everyone else's business.

Unfortunately, It does not apply to Iran, who has set up Hezbollah as it's proxy army, and is deeply involved in terror the world over. And has continually threatened Israel........or have you not read the links I provided?

BTW, I am not an American, so your accusations of American nationalist fervor are just ridiculous. I simply realize our common interests, the need to defend western civilization........

Tell you what; if you hate this society so, go traveling.........check out the alternatives, especially in the Muslim world. Because if the west doesn't smarten the Hell up, that is where we are going......

And atheist, loud mouth, misanthrope anarchists will be the first to lose their heads.

Just ask this woman about it: she knows....

i'm pretty sure the rampant and vast suffering in Iraq never reached these proportions with Saddam in charge.

Radical Islam is not going to take over the world. The vast majority of Muslims are not fundamentalists. The sooner you realize this the sooner you'll calm the hell down and ease up on your anti-muslim rhetoric.

No dodging the question.

I was not commenting on America's actions (They stand or fall on their own merits) , but on your disregard for the price (Over 100 000 lives) of getting rid of one tyrant. I am not the one filled with hate.

I am sure there was but the difference is no embedded journalists.

Moderate Muslims should be stepping up to calm the rest of the world and rid the Mosques of radical Islamists far more than is apparent at present.

I don't think there is a doubt that Iran has or is very close to having a nuclear bomb, they already have a very good delivery system. Unfortunately the only way we will have proof is when they either use or test one. Act now and the world looks at us as aggressors, wait till they use one and were hero's. As in Iraq, the civilians are going to suffer either way

"Mr. Hussein's has been a tale of terror that scholars have compared to that of Stalin, whom the Iraqi leader is said to revere, even if his own brutalities have played out on a small scale. Stalin killed 20 million of his own people, historians have concluded. Even on a proportional basis, his crimes far surpass Mr. Hussein's, but figures of a million dead Iraqis, in war and through terror, may not be far from the mark, in a country of 22 million people."

No, Iraq has never seen such anarchy and chaos that the Americans have brought upon them.

How do you propose they do that? Plenty of muslims have spoken out against fanaticism, but beyond that what can they do?
Why doesn't the Pope, and other Catholics do a better job getting rid of the pedophile priests who infest churches worldwide?
