How about a currency based of something tangible, like silver or gold or whatever. Fiat currency is only based on debt and the accumulation of debt.

Go make your own silver and gold. Don't go telling people what the should give you for free if you refuse to take care of yourself.

from the 'in box' :

Trudeau only received 39.5% of the vote — and only because the NDP vote collapsed in the last week. Despite total name recognition, a fawning media and advisors flown in from Barack Obama’s campaign team, he couldn’t crack 40%. And the Conservatives — despite the voter fatigue of having been in office for nearly ten years — still got 32% of the vote. The triumphalism at the CBC hides the fact that their Trudeaumania isn’t universal.

It only took Harper 36% last election.

You should be preparing a price list based on commodities.

Let's start with what I decide. I control the food. No food = no you.

Here's the best part about this:

You donkeys are the only ones clinging to FPTP.

It's just as crucial to Canada's future to the Libs as the Cons but you are too far gone to grasp what is Canada's future.

The CBC is mandated to hide the truth. It performed brilliantly and slavishly for Harplers ideologues despite your incorrect form regarding the dark decade of distopic rule. I have a mind to report you to the not yet but soon to be commissioned Wellness Thought Brigades. You will conform to the new shiney paradigm and sniff the flowers of the Canadian multicultural garden or attend political correction camp until you have been wellend.
Those statistics will be corrected in the history books and you will be salvaged and treated for your debilitating case of Harplerosis.

I will say majority.

And you'd be right. Now I'm wondering how long it will be before all the whiners who are snivelling about Harper now will be snivelling about Trudeau. I will guess by the end of November! :)

And history will prove us right. Obviously, most Canadians agreed with us as they punted Harpo's sorry azz. Justin hasn't even taken the reigns yet and Wally is already caterwauling.

And maybe for good reason, Cliffy. I accept Trudeau for several reasons, in a democracy the majority decides, in a reasonable country everyone deserves a chance and even more important Justin is trying hard to make a difference. Having said all that he's going to do a few things that I question the sense of and I'm sure Walter feels the same. Walter is guided by "right" vs. "left", I am guided by what will work vs. what won't. He's going to have a tough time on a couple of issues, but those issues are part of what got him elected. Let's just everyone chill and WATCH for a few weeks.

Voter turnout is really highway in PEI and the Yukon. Much lower in Newfoundland and Nunavut, but still quite high overall.

Why? Is there something magical about silver or gold? They're just commodities.

Specifically, they're not worth much. Gold has a few, fairly limited, industrial uses, but it's value is based on perception, as in "Ooooh, shiny!"

So what's the difference between gold and paper, or electronic bleeps? Value is what people believe it is.

This is one 'old stock Canadian' who is neither screaming nor wailing........no echoes here. When once I was a supporter of Stephen Harper, I became very disillusioned with his pro-Israel, pro-war, pro-big oil stance in the past few years. He was taking my country in a direction that I did not agree with at all. I wish him well but am not at all sorry to see him gone. I still voted for our Conservative candidate as did the majority of voters in our constituency as she is a good MP for our riding.
Heck, I was a "supporter" (insofar as one can be who can neither vote nor take any other political action in Canada) of Harper too, in this election.

I'm just enjoying the butthurt.

I hear you, I too voted for the Conservative candidate in this riding and he won handily with 37,000 votes to Liberal's 30000 and Dipper's 17,000. Hold on maybe those were percentages. :)

Dipper MP here now. Won by only 285 votes. So I guess we will be non-existent to the feds.

The dude is a lifetime bureaucrat.
