What a contrast it is to look at the US campaign compared to a Canadian election, particlarly the level of sophistication.
The US election has been in progress since about the time of the Korean War, with huge bucks, ad campaigns, town hall meetings, dozens of debates (just between party nominees), flagwaving, conventions etc. The candidates will need to take the next four years off just to recover from the process.
North of the border, the conservatives pick an election date that's within a couple of months and they launch a campaign showing Steve having a quiet fireside chat. Their theme is "We're Better off with Harper". Man, the patriotism just boils over. Then there's Dion, a guy most Canadians couldn't pick out of a police lineup, and Jack, who just got the bus reinsured and took it for spin to see if he needs to personally do a brake job.
Didn't I write brake? ;-)Yeah, it dosen't exactly suck the air outta the room does it. Brakes not break. I want that point.

I reread it too, then edited them. ;-) Wasn't your mistake. My mistake. I could have sworn, but, rerereading confirms my error, please accept my appleogoly.
What would be really funny is if the result is the same as the last election.

The reasons why I would vote Conservative?
1. The NDP and the Liberals would both immediately proceed to steal my handguns upon being elected. I have had WAY too much of that crap. This is pure speculation. You use your handguns for work don't you?
2. Foreign Affairs.....the Conservatives are the only party that will keep us in Afghanistan, the only party that strongly supports Israel, the only party that maintains good relations with the USA, the only party that doesn't spend half its energy kissing Chinese arse, the only party that ignores some of the idiocy coming out of the UN. Why should we strongly support Israel? Why should we kiss American ass? You've taken the American attitude on the UN. They can't rule the UN, so they hate it.
3. The Conservatives, with a majority, will dump the gun registry.
4. The Liberals will bring in a carbon tax, driving the economy into the ground.....Oh yes and the Conservatives will have a green program that costs nothing......Sure they will....
5. The Greens are a fringe......
6. The Conservatives will continue to support the military, relative to the policies of the Liberals and NDP at least....
7. I can't stand Paul Zed, the Liberal MP in my riding......what a piece of human garbage! He's not a PC so he must be human garbage.....That is not worthy of an answer..
Irony isn't your choice of humour? Ah well.
The reasons why I would vote Conservative?
1. The NDP and the Liberals would both immediately proceed to steal my handguns upon being elected. I have had WAY too much of that crap. This is pure speculation. You use your handguns for work don't you? Not anymore.....I don't work there anymore, they closed the office here...........and I am sorry, I should have said semi-automatics.....see Resolution No. 42 of the Liberal Party of Canada. And when the official platform comes out, if a ban on handgunsis not on it, I'll eat my hat.

Israel is the only rule-of-law democracy in the ME. And getting along with the USA, our biggest ally and trading partner ,is hardly kissing their ass......but, that said, if it comes to a choice, a thousand times better to kiss US ass than Chinese ass. The UN? Laughable.
3. The Conservatives, with a majority, will dump the gun registry.
4. The Liberals will bring in a carbon tax, driving the economy into the ground.....Oh yes and the Conservatives will have a green program that costs nothing......Sure they will....I don't much care, to tell the truth. Not a huge priority with me.

7. I can't stand Paul Zed, the Liberal MP in my riding......what a piece of human garbage! He's not a PC so he must be human garbage.....That is not worthy of an answer..You obviously don't know Mr. Zed.....there are Liberals I even like, including Dion; and even you Juan. Zed is pathetic, a worm, just disgusting.
Conservative majority, one could hope.
Conservative majority, one could hope.
That's what Harper hopes for. That's why he broke his own law so he could manipulate the election for more favourable odds. It's gonna backfire. He doesn't play well with other kids. He'll really be pi**ed if he ends up with a softer minority ... or the swing in an NDP government.
