Ottawa mayoral candidate Robert White has left the decision up to the voters: “If I am not elected I will move away from this backwater of a city.”

White’s unusual campaign promise comes at the end of his response to a Citizen questionnaire sent to all candidates for mayor and council. The question reads: Are you married or in a long-term partnership? Kids? How old are you?

White, 54, uses the question to expound on his problems finding steady work in his field of mechanical engineering over the past 30 years. This, in turn, has prevented him from getting married or having children, he explains.

“I have lived in abject poverty for most of my adult life and would not ever get married without first having the funds to do so,” his answer reads.

His lack of bilingualism has also been an issue, he says.

But he’s apparently ready to put this behind him if elected mayor.

Here is White’s complete answer:

“I’m 54 and single due to a lack of funds to get married or have children. I have lived in abject poverty for most of my adult life and would not ever get married without first having the funds to do so. Ottawa has been a very poor place to find employment for myself and others throughout the last thirty years. Mechanical Engineering positions in Ottawa have not been forthcoming with my credentials. A lack of bilingualism has thwarted much of my working life in this area. If I am not elected I will move away from this backwater of a city.”

I would not vote for him either just how silly can one person be. His problem is he can't hold a job
and that is according to him not the public. He has little drive or he would be looking for work all the
time until he found his way. I wonder what his skill set was when he left school. No not a diploma
that is only part of a skill set. I'm talking about how he viewed the world and who owed him a living.
If he came to my workplace with that attitude I would not hire him either. He lists a pity train of
tragedy and does nothing about it Voters Beware

Well even a classic loser is good for one laugh in his lifetime.

Maybe after he loses he can get a job cleaning up in Fort Mac.

Or not.

Bill forgot again to thank you for my 2 Pensions- 30 more months and another pension coming in.
Thank you so much.

He claims to be a Mechanical Engineer but never considered moving out of Ottawa (he is single it seems) to a place where he didn't have to learn another language to get a job.

Or he could have learned French whilst loafing around.

I think he's a doinker............

In a bold and progressive move, his original campaign poster was: VOTE FOR ME OR THE KITTEN GETS IT!

"I told the people of my district that I would serve them as faithfully as I had done; but if not, they might go to hell, and I would go to Texas."

Davy Crockett, on his defeat in the Congressional election of 1835, in which he was the incumbent. He of course, went toTexas, and died at the Alamo.

Perhaps there is room at Baghdad for Mr. White.

I asked them, they never heard of the guy. I mentioned he was listed as being from Kanata, they said "Well, that explains it then."

No one is going to oust Watson from what they're telling me.
