Heck yeah it is more than a possibility. The US is directly responsible for the massive civil war raging across Mexico.

We're tired of paying Mexicans 25 cents a to pick a bushell of corn... they should be happy we Americans are letting them pick them so they should pick them for free.

Plus we could always use them soldiars for our wars of aggression.

The United States government has little to nothing to do with it. But cocaine consumption in the US (and Canada) is the fuel for the fire. A lot of money is at stake and killing people is cheap.
