Perhaps you could help us out by differentiating between the prime operative/directive (innate and inherent) telling each one of us that our personal survival and our personal well-being are paramount to continuation of the species.... and that notion you've highlighted..."life"....

"Life" can overcome incredible obstacles and yet a relatively light blow to a nerve center can incapacitate a human being. "Life" can reclaim vast areas of land burned by lightening and "destroyed " by lava flow, and yet, a human being can be killed by a virus so small one must use an electron microscope to see it....

Maybe you could define your terms your "understanding" a with a little more precision...
, I will Mikey , I'm in diiferent time zone good night.

You imply that one could totally walk from one's past with no impressions left. Do you believe that?

Well , you don't have to do that any more, the past walks away from you by itself, with the impressions and all.
*sigh* why the hell would I want the past to walk away from me... that is psychobabble crap...

I am a whole, past, and present. that is who I am... you sound terrified of your past... like you need to extricate yourself from it. If that is your need then do so. But in doing so, do not pretend to have some elevated understanding of "universal psyche". You may understand your own and if so kudos to you. You have no clue about anyone elses.

Yeah, I know all about it, we've both had to take it as part of our employer's ideas on useful training, and I've researched it a fair bit on my own as well. We both scored very similarly, but trust me, you do not want to get this hard-nosed old skeptic started on that subject.
LOL okay, I can respect that although I fully disagree with your conclusions.
The kindest thing I can say about it is that I think, in common with most personality profiling techniques I've encountered, it's shallow and artificial.
Once again, I can respect your conclusions but must say, that has not been my experience at all.
And one of the reasons you don't want to get me started on it is because the people who own the rights to the name and the tests are very litigious. In fact if they saw your mention of it you'd probably get a nasty letter telling you the name is trade marked and you must write it this way: Myers-Briggs ™.
While it may well be their trademark you can find various forms of it all over the internet. The interpretations are fairly similar. I do not believe we can ever fully define another by their test scores on things. While I have taken courses in Myers Brigg and adore Jung (I truly believe he was brilliant) who came up with his own personality profile which was very similar at the same time as the ladies did, skepticism is healthy. Everything is merely a guideline. If used correctly it can help us to understand varying personality types and how they think. If used incorrectly it can pigeon hole people and leave us more ignorant than we began.

Everything is about what WE do with it. How WE use it.

For the record my Myers Brigg personality score is one profile for work and almost opposite for my personal preference in daily life. I like that as work and personal life are opposite in approach for me.

This is merely preference folks, preference.... it's not written in stone. If we chose to view it that way though, of course it is.

There are some pretty accurate indicators of personality out there but in fairness to the testee and tester - these must be laid out in various styles over at least a two hour period where the basic responses become reactive and repetitive. A short test for job placement is an indicator primarily that the applicant can read and comprehend but reveals not so much about the core personality.

There isn't time and it's a bit of a gamble with a bright and motivated applicant who really wants the job - he/she will appear to be what he/she believes the firm wants.

Still I don't know what else a company can do other than what they already practice.

Dear China napping with the angels across the Pacific

Black magic it may seem but if we were aware of all of our learning since birth which governs our reactions to external force, we would be unable to function in the norm. Some of our knowledge has to be buried in order to maintain a clear path for immediate functioning in our daily lives.

We have an immense amount of data stored in our minds - thankfully it is not circulating in toto as it would interfere with our immediate activities of autonomic response and elementary basic life.

The psychological test for police academy was very long, and very repetitive. Almost three hours long. I wasn't aware there were so many different ways to ask `Do you like to play with fire?' A very long test. The aptitude test wasn't even that long.

lol... so do you like to play with fire....

Is this a personal observation from having taken the test/ If so what were your impressions...what did you think of the test?

I love government tests - they reveal much about the government mindset and what satisfies their needs for screening....I especially enjoy the multiple choice questions - when there are none you would choose....I always go a bit wild and want to write in something rude.... sigh...

Yes, thank you.

It has ups and downs and plenty of opportunity to learn from own mistakes.

I'm healthy, have a job and a place to hang my hat.

The few things I have, I need.

I have more good days than bad.

I love a few people and am loved in return.

My lady is the most unselfish person I'll ever know. She accepts me inspite of my shortcomings.

That's about it.

I do like to play with fire. I've never seen a person who did not like to poke at a fire, and quite honestly, I would find that abnormal.

Yes, I took the test. My impressions were as Curio said, if they left room for comments I would have had some choice remarks. I was pretty agitated by the time the test was completed. My test was the type where you answer mostly no or mostly yes, or yes/no depending on the wording of the question. By the end, you've answered so many questions and in so many varied posings of seemingly same questions, I was actually second guessing myself. Whatever, I passed it anyways.

Yeah, I 've taken some of those tests that merely seem to be about trying to confuse one.

Who knows what they were truly measuring. Some things are just not as they appear.

Glad you passed, I think. :D

Haaaaaaaaaa, it is the best Time Machine I could find. I bought it here in Canada. I flip back and forth quite regularly. You should join me in the past it is quite the trip. :D

I would never want to shed my past. It has made me who I am. I have made mistakes back there yes. But those same mistakes are what have given me the ability to have the joy I now have. Each day is for learning and enjoying. If we do not learn and evolve in the now in order to modify who we are, there will be no joy in the future. One can get stuck.

Come share my time machine. :D

I love my life. As I look back over the first portion, there has been nothing I couldn't overcome and all in fact only made me stronger as a person. I've been very fortunate in all that I have recieved. While I have dreams and propsects for the future, I have had a full life filled with love and happiness. When ever the thread gets cut, I shall consider it a win.

Wow, I think you are in the minority, but the minority is a good place to be in this case. My partner and I were speaking of this a few weeks ago. If given the chance, would we want to know the date of our death. Both of us decided if it was a good 15 or 20 years into the future then yes if it was close then no. Either way we decided, life was good and had been good and we were blessed.
