Yeah and got nailed for it too...............................but not in this century! :) :) (Does what I do have anything to do with whether people should obey the law?) Get relevant! :)

You think people should obey the law, then obviously you shouldn't speed. Or jaywalk. Or anything else that is against the law.

You're not good at following.

How would you feel if your loved one was killed because someone was "allowed" to use their phone while driving? That makes absolutely no sense. If the fine was $4000 or so the cops could afford to police the situation and put a stop to the bull shit!

You're not very good at reading comprehension.

A lot of the time I avoid doing what I see everyone else doing! :) :)

That is a point , but why are police allowed to operate a laptop computer while driving ? Boomer apparently drives thousands more miles yearly then most drivers , is a police officer more capable ?

You can make a 911 call while driving.. and you won't be ticketed.. in the case of an emergency.

I just installed the eLogs in 3 of my trucks..

...adding cameras to the 3 trucks in January 2018 that watch the driver.. and yes even the truck I drive will have the same camera as my other drivers.

Makes the driver safer and aware.

So , do they never have accidents ?

Of course they do! Name me one job in a mobile situation that is accident free! With motion comes risk.

There's a huge difference between calling 911 and mindless chatter! :)

Built in bluetooth with voice command in vehicles is one of the best things they invented.
It's a pity that I don't have voice command to siri in my particular mode, l so I'm restricted to those numbers stored in the car system.

Soon the phones will likely phone them selves in when you talk on them while driving, and then the ticket will likely appear on the phone while you are talking on it ( while still driving), then it will pay itself because there is no cash anymore and "they" control the digital money...and because there is no STOP THE PAYMENT button!!!

It won't be long before all cars drive themselves. This is only an issue during this time of transformation.

We are destroying the planet from overpopulation and all you guys are thinking about is how to stop stupid people from killing them selves and other stupid people.

With this attitude it’s guaranteed we will destroy the planet.

Depends on how much paper work and red tape it involves. Maybe better just to chop his phone hand off!

Be careful what you wish for, I think a bunch more "cans of worms" are about to opened. What will happen when impatient riders get the idea the vehicle is going too slow so they pull out their pliers and screw drivers to make "adjustments" to the settings? I doubt if there's any technology that can't be over ridden by some idiot!

Probably with specific training.

People will follow laws they feel are useful.

The vast majority of people who use cell phones while driving do not get into accidents, therefore, they question the value of following the law.

You might have to get 10 thousand dangerous drivers off the road to the reduce the fatalities by one, but if it's your life or my life it's worth it, or our loved one's life.

 25 years to life minimum.

The hell with it. Just have them shot like in communist countries

Which Communist countries?

A bit extreme but I'm betting it would put a stop to it and free up cops to do other work! :)

Tailgaters as well.

I think you should be allowed to use your phone while driving, but if you get in an accident while doing so, you lose your license for life, and the vehicle you were driving (no matter who it is owned by) gets confiscated.

If you're in a fatal accident, then you should go to jail for 15 years on top of the above.

That would settle it down pretty quickly.

That's reasonable.

It is quite easy to get involved in conversation sometimes. Many passengers are dangerous distractions on a par with connected devices.
We should not be allowed to speak in cars.

Is it up to people to decide what laws they are going to obey? Too much shit these days of people thinking laws are for other folks!

That is the truth. Who are those other folk?
