Total percentage growth in hourly wages for production and non-supervisory workers in the USA over the past 50 years:

5.44%

Total percentage growth in per capita USA GDP over the past 50 years:

135.09%

Paul Campos compares the U.S.' hourly wages to its GDP over the past few decades to show how workers have been left out of any economic growth

Monsanto isn’t feeding the world, it’s damaging food security – Monsanto Tribunal judges

Published: 21 April 2017 Monsanto promotes its genetically modified (GM) crops and associated pesticides on the claimed grounds that they are needed to help “feed the world”.

But the five judges of the Monsanto Tribunal found that far from contributing to food security, Monsanto’s activities have “negatively affected food availability for individuals and communities”.

The judges of the Tribunal, held last October in The Hague, listened to the testimony of 28 witnesses from around the world whose health and livelihoods had suffered as a result of Monsanto’s products and activities.

The judges are all renowned for their expertise in human rights and international law issues. They were led by the Belgian Françoise Tulkens, former vice-president of the European Court of Human Rights.
On 18 April the Monsanto Tribunal judges announced their damning verdict, based on a number of considerations.

First, the judges found that Monsanto had interfered with the ability of individuals and communities to feed themselves directly from productive land.

The judges said, “Monsanto’s activities have caused and are causing damages to the soil, water and generally to the environment, thereby reducing the productive possibilities for the production of adequate food.

This is a direct result of not having any wars.

If you had the intellectual capacity to see the bigger picture you would realize. No wars only results in cultural war. Economic war. Covert war. Monsanto is a excellent example.

Competition for resources wont stop, with the end of war. It will only get worse because population growth. When you look at the bigger picture, no wars is far worse for earth then War.

Im sure masive scale depression, suicide, and outbreak of drug use, due to lack of economic opportunity, because of resources competition, Is better then war??

Pope Francis: Capitalism is “Terrorism Against All of Humanity”

Once again, Pope Francis has made global headlines, shocking reporters late Sunday after blaming the “god of money” for the extremist violence that is taking place in Europe and the Middle East. A ruthless global economy, he argues, leads disenfranchised people to violence.

Responding to a question from a journalist about whether or not there is a link between Islam and terrorism, more specifically addressing the fatal attack on a priest by a Muslim extremist in France last week, Pope Francis said, “Terrorism grows when there is no other option, and as long as the world economy has at its center the god of money and not the person.”“This is fundamental terrorism, against all humanity,” he continued.
“I ask myself how many young people that we Europeans have left devoid of ideals, who do not have work. Then they turn to drugs and alcohol or enlist in [the Islamic State, or ISIS],” he said.

A truly incoherent and unsupported post. Why don't you print it out and paste it on your fridge where you can read it when you are a senior?

I don't plan on being a crutch for my children the way boomer are for theirs

Well you have a few options if you end up in a situation where you can't look after yourself; Suicide, Assisted suicide or a nursing/seniors home.

The later is going to cost $3-5,000.00 a month so you best start saving up for that........

It isn't a job killer either, at least not according to your link.

So working poor get a boost in pay with no plus or minus effect on jobs.

Thanks or the post.

Seattle's 2.9% Unemployment Rate Tells Us Nothing About The Effects Of Seattle's Minimum Wage Rise
https://www.forbes.com/sites/timwor...s-of-seattles-minimum-wage-rise/#648d09a868b8

looks like, by the chart there at the link, the rate has been this low before when they didn't have this minimum wage
I am absolutely shocked that a pro Unfettered Capitalist publication would try to say that a higher minimum wage doesn't help when that money could have gone to shareholders or owners.

Maybe the writer should ask those making $15.00 an hour if their lives have improved.

But then again, maybe we should support the wealthy so they can spend $110 million on a painting........
