Also, I don't see any misconduct from the store employee, no racial slurs at all, he behaved like a gentleman bouncer at any bar.

Well, I'll tell you one thing for sure, if that asshole had talked to me like he talked to the customer, that would be the last time I'd be doing business at that store. The employee acted like a complete and utter jerk!

I'm not sure where the 33 million people fit in and what they have to do with this.

How did he act like a jerk? I just watched the video, he behaviour was typical for a bouncer.

Those light-fingered Hutterites are an issue, are they? Just like those roving bands of Mennonite thugs?

Yup.

Customers don't steal, they buy things.

I still have one question. Is hurling racial slurs at customers a firing offense normally, or only when you think one of them is attempting to steal, or not a firing offense at all in Canada?

I think the person he was talking to is not someone they want as a customer anyway. He got caught trying to steal something and the only reason he got off is by playing the race card in the media. A white boy would have been dragged in front of a judge.

Didn't appear to me he had left the building nor was he in any hurry to leave.

It used to be "the customer is always right"......................looks like that has fallen by the wayside!

Except you don't usually bounce people who appear to be attempting to make a purchase!

If he left the building with the stolen goods he was screwed. He knew he was pinched and abandoned the goods.

Northern Ontario,
When Woolworth Woolco had a store here in town before they sold to Walmart, I walked over to make a small purchase, and you know how it is, since it was a small purchase in the tool section, I didn't take a cart, and after I picked up what I needed, I saw something else that might be useful then something else and after a while, my hands were full and I put some stuff in my coat pocket...
That's when I saw out of the corner of my eye, the floorwalker following me around, so I decided to string him along and walked all over the store looking at stuff and putting it back.
When I got tired of it, I went to the check out and started emptying my pockets, telling the lady there, that as usual I came in to buy just one thing, then got carried away..
She laughed and said that men always do that....
After I crossed the door to the mall hallway, I noticed a small screwdriver in my shirt pocket, that I had forgotten to pay, so I turned right around and went back to the same cashier and paid it... then turned around to face the floorwalker who was still standing there, not knowing what to do..
I just winked at him, then finger shot him and left the store...
He never followed me after that, and even nodded at me, when we'd happen to meet in the store after that............

You probably pissed him so bad he's never gotten over it. That job is probably one step below Greeter.

You can't blame a floor walker for doing his/her job, if he/she blows a gasket at the demographic that is behind the majority of thefts is it really racism or just frustration?

10% of the population of SK commits 85% of crimes.

Why wouldn't people be pissed at that 10%?
I like your notion of justice. If one shares certain physical characteristics with the group from which most of the criminals come, then one is guilty, regardless of one's own actions.

You do realize the vast majority of crime is committed by men, right?

I'm no expert on this shit but wouldn't a professional alert management to what he thinks is going to happen and then just hang tough until the guy leaves the store and then nab him outside, then it's guilty beyond a reasonable doubt? It's called giving the guy "enough rope to hang himself". :)
