When you pay municipal taxes in Ontario the first time you sign up, there is a selection if you support public schools or separate schools.

Catholic or Protestant (at least in one district), but not Jewish. That was the whole point of Waldman vs. Canada.

It should be none.

That or all. That was the conclusion of Waldman vs. Canada but of course Canada said it was Ontario's decision and ONtario said it was in the Constitution so it could do nothing about it. Imagine Iran using such an argument:

'Oh, sorry, our constitution requires us to discriminate like that, nothing we can do about it.'

Note taken. Entrench your discriminatory laws into your constitution, and you're covered.

The BNA Act and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms both include coverage for Protestant schools:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Penetanguishene_Protestant_Separate_School_Board
Your link says there is one private protestant school.

The Protestant Separate School Board of the Town of Penetanguishene (PSSBP) is a separate English language school board headquartered in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada. The board consists of a single school, the Burkevale Protestant Separate School. It is the only non-Catholic separate school in Ontario.

How many separate Protestant schools does it take to prove that there exist a separate Protestant school board? Just read the Constitution and it clearly includes Protestant schools.

It would take a number of them for me to recognize that protestants had preferential constitutional recognition.

The only church that could command special treatment at the time of Canada's founding was The Church.

Northern Ontario,
Oh gee. By that logic, why not just make them Muslim schools? After all, any Jew, Christian, or atheist could just send his child there, right?
In a muslim school would other students be exempt from bowing and praying to mecca 5 times a day? as non catholic attending a Separate school are exempt from attending any Christian prayers or service?

Dream on.........................

Just the fact there is prayer is reason enough for other denominations to send their kids to Catholic schools.

Actually, yes. I had several "protestant" school mates and a teacher in the Catholic school I attended and they did not have to participate in mass or prayers FYI

Yeah, catholic was the PUBLIC system in my home town ( an oddity around this province), and it was the same: non Catholics, like the two Pakistani teachers, and also the OTHER CHRISTIAN denominations were not required to participate either.

It was funny, the "EVANGELICAL protestant" teacher with "JESUS LOVES YOU!!!" painted all over his MG in hippy scrawl got to do his own thing, and was never at the catholic functions we had to attend, which everyone had a good laugh about...
( The lucky SOB we were thinking. )

However in the PRIVATE separate high school there were no other denominations attending, being Catholic was a requirement to get in.

If it's a publicly-funded separate school, then the Government would still set the rules, no?

What about them? Are you saying just because they have dissabilities they are laxzy? Because that is the opposite of my experience.

Depends on the disability. Not all disabilities prevent a person from working, but some may prevent a person from earning enough to support himself.
