Bilingualism was never a Canadian value. That was rammed down our throats by pappy turdo. Be glad to se that waste of tax dollars disappear.

Are you kidding me? Official bilingualism has had a frenzied cult following across Canada sinse the 60's up until today.

It's only in the last few years that opposition has started to grow, and even then very slowly, and even then a divided opposition between nostalgic Britishists and those who now tend to associate the spirit of official bilingualism with that of cultural genocide, seeing it as an extension of the separate school system and the residential school system. And even between the two, the opposition is probably over 90% bigoted Britishists.

Heavily armed men in niqabs surround Prime Minister Harper and former Defense Minister Peter MacKay.

We'll soon aLloyd be wearing winter niqabs. Let's hope the heaters don't fail at winter citizenship ceremonies once the new law is passed.

Most special operations police (SWAT) and other such similar units in the military wear 'balaclavas' and other face covering etc for different reasons. Some reasons include.

* They're fire retardant and protect from potential burns etc from"flash" from fire/stun munitions etc

* Provide limited protection against debris (glass etc) when making a dynamic/forced entry

* They're intimidating giving teams extra critical seconds to dominate a room/opponent etc

* Most officers/operators also perform covert surveillance work and need their identity kept out of the tv/print news etc. This is especially important with smaller agencies and those whose officers also perform other duties such as drug units/detectives etc when not on SWAT duty.

* The assist in hiding visible skin area to better 'blend in' during operations in the dark.

* They hide facial features and expressions so don't give off 'fear' or other signals an opponent may be looking for when viewing the tactical team out a window etc.
hhhmmm

Some Muslim women wear "balaclavas" (AKA Niqabs), too. Some may wear it for decoration

Some may use it for protection against the sun and some may even be made of fire-retardant materials. Some may even protect against dust and other types of flying debris. They sure as hell seem to be intimidating to Harpy and others. They might keep your face out of the media in case you are camera-shy. I suppose they could also work as camo. They obviously hide facial expressions.
