Question:

Can I marry my mate as a gay woman.

If your mate is a gay woman, then it should be a snap. But if you're trying to marry your mate as a gay woman, and he's a straight man, you're going to run into some issues.

sorry, couldn't resist the funny wording.

Am I free to not have the state dictate whether I believe in God or not?

Wowzas, you hop around asking unlinked questions and AWFUL lot.

Feel free to go back and attempt to refute the actual discussions people are having with you about religious freedom, and the fact that the anthem does not infringe upon yours.

Because the anthem as it stands does not dictate that you believe in a god. No one forces you to believe. No one forces you to sing. No one's forcing you to do anything.

You know, this seems like a pretty petty issue compared to say, the oceans dying, earth quakes and tsunamis killing people, or thousands of species becoming extinct every year or whatever.

I have no use for religion either but then I am a citizen of this land not the corporation of Canada that runs roughshod over it. My allegiance is to life, not politics.

Perhaps it is.

I believe in a secular state.

There's a difference between a current secular state, and sterilizing history. You could so easily say 'we' instead of 'god'... but you won't, because you want god gone. end of story. You're twisting, and rationalizing, and justifying, but you want it gone because you want the nation to reflect your views. The same reason so many people want it still there.

The crucial bit is recognizing what actually makes sense for your well being, in terms of pushing for freedom, and what's just window dressing.

One word in a song will make no difference to your religious freedom. Which you have tons of btw.

I don't want the nation to reflect anyones views.

It appears you do.

I want religious freedom and secularism in our running government. I want lawmakers to make laws based on the Charter, and universal human rights.

I don't think the singular occurrence of the word God in our national anthem tramples on any of that. If it did I'd be all over it too. As it is, you're not convincing me that your point of view holds any merit

No.

But if I want to sing my nations anthem I have to include God.

You still can't explain how that's the truth.
