Canada upholds many historical trappings that do not reflect what the nation is moving forward.

The long and short of it is, the laws you live by should not be decided by religion. That's a very crucial, meaningful, thing. Your obsession with one word in a historic anthem, trivializes what religious freedom actually means. You're confusing religious expunging, with freedom. The two are not the same.

'God' is pretty all encompassing. It speaks of spirituality to have it in the anthem, but it doesn't endorse a religion.

So much for secularism in Canada.

Many more do believe in a deity. To remove all historical references makes no sense. It also doesn't impede your freedom to practice whatever religion or lack thereof that you like, and it doesn't influence current law making (as you should be very aware of)

You can sing whatever you wish, in whatever key you wish, can you not?
You don't like the one word? Substitute in whatever word you'd like and

Oh, sorry, feel free to reread what I've actually posted a few times throughout the thread about how no one is forcing you to praise god, and you should feel free to use whatever word you are comfortable with in its place. We are a land of religious freedom.
