Oh sweetie, you're hilarious. In Ontario you can also get married at 16 with parental consent and it's been that way for decades.
I didn't know that; good to know. What's your stance on it?
And guess what? The same law applies in YOUR province as well and has for decades.
Huh, didn't know that either, but then I never wanted to marry at 16. My stance on it? Hell no.
I mean it's kinda funny that you'll shit your pants over something like this in a foreign state that has nothing to do with you while being ignorant of the marriage laws in your own province.
Never had to look at marriage laws in my province so...
As I said above though, Hell no.
Where's all the do-gooder, "the children are our future" leftards in your province in regards to this? Guess they don't care abouts the chill'en either eh?
See, here's where you missed the point. Or maybe you didn't and you're just being your typical, hypocritical self.
The point is that for all the Republicans down there screaming about "PROTECT THE CHILDREN!", when it comes to marriage like this, the children don't matter. You have people wanting to force trans people not to be allowed, even over 21, to have to "wait" for any trans care because "the brain isn't developed fully yet". You have people wanting to refuse medical are to help kids not succumb to suicide. You've people who want to force girls who get raped to carry pregnancies to term regardless of age.
And yet at the same time, getting married young is a-okay so long as momma and daddy agree (or a judge). And THAT is what my issue is. The blatant hypocrisy of it.
I've not once before this post gave MY opinion on the matter at all. Now, I'm sure there are those who either a) think a 16 year old can choose to marry and be okay, but it's also likely b) there are many who live here who have no clue either that 16 is a legally allowable age to marry.
As I said above, hell. No.
You want to be married? You need to be at LEAST 19. No mommy and daddy permission exemptions.
