of course!

The article was loaded with sentences and phrases that I thought were going to lead somewhere.

Here`s another report about the report about casual pot usage

Study Finds Recreational Cannabis Use Is Associated With Abnormalities In The Brain | I ****ing Love Science

The researchers found that the marijuana users, compared with the non-users, had structural abnormalities in gray matter density, volume and shape of two areas of the brain; the nucleus accumbens and amygdala. These regions have been implicated in reward and aversion and therefore likely play a role in addiction. They are also involved in the euphoria associated with the rewarding effects of drugs.

The researchers also found that some of the abnormalities were exposure dependent. Finally, the researchers also suggested that cannabis use may be associated with a disruption of neural organization in the nucleus accumbens and amygdala, but this is speculation.

These data therefore suggest that recreational marijuana use in young adults may lead to alterations in the core reward structures. It's important to remember, however, that correlation does not imply causation- the study can infer an association but not a definitive cause. The number of participants was also small and the study did not investigate whether cannabis use affected cognition as well as brain morphology. Therefore although this particular study is important, it also lays the foundations for further in-depth research into this interesting area.

*Euphoria is not something that pot makes me feel. I wonder what kind of pot the test subjects were given. Medical research has suggested certain strains containing certain levels of certain chemicals treat conditions better than others. I wonder if these different chemicals would also effect the brain differently.

All the fun stuff seems to do stuff to your brain...even fricken alcohol....

Good news though! Nobody is getting out of this life alive so enjoy this life as best you can.
The study concluded that more study was necessary .

So you never have said any of the following?
watching a sunset "Awe man this would be so much better if I was high man!"
thinking about going to a movie"What for man , I'm not high , we can go tomorrow when I get some weed man"

party "We need some weed or this isn't going to be any good man"

Most weed heads I say this stuff to ask me how I know.
The honest ones anyway.

Weed is a time waster, gate way shmate way it's a waste of time.

It's for people who don't enjoy life and need drugs to fill in their blanks.

lots of hahahahahahahahaha.....what were we laughing at man..

but hey it's a free world and if this is what you want to while your life away .fine
celebrate mediocrity smoke weed.
Reality is just a crutch for people who can't handle good drugs.

All the best studies do... Great way to keep their labs open and staff employed.
Odd that the staff were the ones wanting to be the testers also.

.... but I will say, once in a while, I'd sure like a joint now and then. Smoke a joint late at night, wifes asleep, sons asleep.... grab some cookies, something to drink, go play a video game.

Yup.... big danger to society I'd be..
The classic definition of a domestic terrorist. No sitizen is allowed to be 'relaxed'. One does it, pretty soon everybody is wanting the same.

I am glad I did. I tried acid once. That is too high a high for me..
No kidding, orange barrel, $2/hit, cut it in half and 12 solid hours of the wildest optics you could imagine. (clarity by looking at a piece of blank paper, lol) Traveling around between the Cowboy bar and the Indian bar was 'enlightening' to say the least, the smoke was slightly less thick that the 'tension' lol

The car ralley I was in saw me arrive at the finish line in a different vehicle than I left in. Damn High Schools was fun.

Actually the Durtch did a study where they found three types of users.
It's genetic.
one type smokes it and gets paranoid, these people are prone to schizophrenia, and the weed brings out the illness in the form of paranoia

a second type smokes it and gets paranoid and these people with long term daily use can develop schizophrenia.

A third type never gets paranoid. they relax with it enjoy it and don't even know what paranoia is in the sense of expirencing it.
these people genetically are not prone to schizophrenia so they never suffer from the paranoid effects.

It's always the people who never tried it before who parrot what others have said who also never tried it before & only observed what those who actually do it do, all the while just not getting it.

I don't need weed to enjoy things in my life. While it can make certain things more interesting, i can still enjoy and appreciate things without it.

How many people do you know that absolutely enjoy going to bars, clubs and parties with nothing to drink?

"Gee watching this hockey game sure would be good with a beer."

^ i heard that plenty..... How's that any different?

or a coffee in the morning before the day starts?

Smoke during break or after sex?

Glass of wine to wind down?

The people who seem to need to get high for almost everything are not doing it because of the drug, they're doing it because of something else wrong in their life and rather than addressing it, they take the easy way out (as does society) and blame the drug.

You seem sure of yourself.
Have you seen my profile pic.

I Like what Blake said.
" Those who restrain desire, do so because theirs is weak enough to be restrained; and the restrainer or reason usurps its place & governs the unwilling.
And being restrain'd it by degrees becomes passive till it is only the shadow of desire."

You were also quite sure of yourself and your claim why paranoia is associated with weed is thus;

The only reason why paranoia is associated with weed is because it's made illegal and you get paranoid that some pain in the **** neighbor walked by, smelled something and called the cops because they're a party pooper.
.
which is just about as accurate as an old wive's tale.

As is any limited study.

Anybody can make a study for anything and make it suit their position.

There's a study out there for everything telling you that something isn't good for you. Hell, the air we breath isn't good for us due to oxidants which break down our DNA and contribute to aging.

Even if weed makes you stupid and people like that & want to watch a movie stoned..... What do you care and how does it affect you in anyway what others do in their own personal lives?

And yeah I am sure of myself. 15 years of first hand experience and involvement with many others who have will do that. I trust my own experiences over some lab experiment of 20 random people with many uncalculated factors that haven't been considered.

And for as many "studies" that show weed as being evil, there are even more saying it's not as bad as those studies claim they are.

All your argument has been thus far is personal bias & opinion with reference towards a dated study about people with a mental condition have a slightly higher chance of getting worse.

Tell me, in the last say, 50 years, how many deaths have been directly tied to the use of marijuana compared to say, alcohol or any other drug out there? (legal or illegal)

People can try and make weed out to be the big boogie man all they want, but more and more people are simply not buying it anymore.

And don't even start with the Gateway Drug thing..... I was drunk the first time I smoked up.... There's your gateway drug.

And as another mentioned, sugar is a good gateway as well.

If a study is ever performed on medical use marijuana vs other drugs, i think we would find that the mm users appears to need their medication more often, and discontinued use is less common. Imo, this would reflect on the pothead factor of mm use.

I gather that you have never smoked pot, since you are blowing smoke out your butt. I smoked heavily back in the 60s and early 70s and quit cold turkey one day around '74. I have since, on occasion, drank pot tea for chronic pain. Since THC is not water soluble, it won't get you stoned. Although I don't recommend recreational pot smoking, I do advocate for the medicinal use because it has been successfully used for thousands of years and its healing properties are well documented.

Studies are funny, You can find almost any study to prove a point. I found this one that said people who smoke pot are smarter than your average non user.

Marijuana Users Really Are Smart People, According to Study | The Informer | Los Angeles | Los Angeles News and Events | LA Weekly

I like pot. I love the smell (which I wish you could smell once you've smoked it, but you can't) I like a toke here and there. I don't drink I don't smoke cigarettes, I eat healthy, I work out.

I see no problem. I don't get a hang over and it doesn't prevent me from going to work. I continue to learn and read, I have the pleasure of working with brainiacs in a very interesting field of science. I guess as long as you maintain your responsibilities who's to tell you what you should and shouldn't do. eh?

The weed being produced today is light-years more potent than when you imbibed back in the day; wheel-chair weed is the new norm... So much THC on the surface that the product looks like it sat on a dusty window sill for a month or 3.

A "runners high" is an endocannabinoid high. The high from a rollercoaster is an endocannabinoid high. A scary movie is an endocannabioid high.

Out here on the perimeter there are no stars. Out here we is stoned. Immaculate.

I know. I'm not lilly white. I do rarely take a toke at a party. One toke and I'm a vegetable, which is why I rarely do it. I call the stuff on the street 12 gauge frontal lobotomy. On those occasions I usually spend the night playing my drum because communicating with those strange humanoid creatures around me is very difficult.

I love opening a bag of fresh bud and inhaling the crystal dust. Magic.
