Here is an article which illustrates the serious failings of LIE-beral national security policy. With some comments of my own in brackets):

(You recall the Via train thing- a pair of Muslims wanted to derail a Via passenger train off the Toronto Highland Creek Bridge- and the plot was thwarted by an FBI agent- as Cdn cops are simply NOT allowed to have the resources or the mandate to be so effective against terrorists- so that we MUST rely on Yankees for much of our security thanks to deliberate LIE-beral willful blindness!)

OTTAWA — An undercover FBI agent who helped convict two men of plotting to derail a Via passenger train in Canada did not see the arrests as a triumph, because he feared another extremist had eluded his grasp.
In a new book published under his cover name from the operation, Tamer Elnoury reveals how gaining the confidence of the would-be rail saboteurs led to knowledge of an apparent al-Qaida sleeper terrorist in the United States.
Elnoury is still haunted by the thought of the jihadi who got away.
“Every time I hear about someone committing a terrorist act on U.S. soil, I wonder if that was the American sleeper,” he writes. “My biggest regret is that I couldn’t find him.”
Elnoury is among the small number of highly valued, Arabic-speaking Muslim agents doing undercover counter-terrorism work for the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation.
“American Radical” traces his involvement in the investigation that led to terrorism convictions and life sentences in 2015 for Chiheb Esseghaier, a Tunisian citizen doing doctoral research in Montreal, and Raed Jaser, a stateless Palestinian who had come to Toronto as a teenager with his family.
Esseghaier “popped up on the FBI’s radar” after he made contact with some al-Qaida operatives online, Elnoury writes. The FBI alerted Canadian officials, who opened their own investigation. Esseghaier had travelled to Iran twice in two years, arousing concern he was there for terrorist training.
Canadian intelligence tried to “bump” Esseghaier — stage a casual meeting that seemed random — during a 2011 conference in Mexico, the book says. “The Canadians didn’t have a Muslim, so they used a Peruvian Christian. Chiheb’s English wasn’t that good. The hope was a native Arabic speaker would have a better chance.”
Elnoury posed as a globetrotting American real estate magnate who despised western ways and funnelled his profits to his overseas uncle, a financier for al-Qaida.
In June 2012, Elnoury managed to ensure he and Esseghaier were seated together on a flight to California. They quickly became friends and Esseghaier was soon openly talking about shooting down planes with a portable missile launcher, the book says. Elnoury believes Esseghaier saw him as a like-minded ally with the money to help fund his operations.
Early that September, Elnoury, who had become close to Esseghaier, was called to a meeting in New York. A senior Canadian Security Intelligence Service official had flown in to hear what Elnoury knew about Esseghaier’s plans to go fishing with someone.
Elnoury scoffed at the notion the intense Tunisian would ever go fishing, and advised that Esseghaier “is here to hurt us.”
CSIS learned the fishing trip turned out to be a mission with Jaser to scout a railway bridge they planned to sabotage, sending a train that travels from New York to Toronto hurtling into the river below, killing many passengers.
(Considering the height of the Highland Creek Bridge I am inclined to say there would be virtually No survivors if the Via train went off that bridge!)
The file, now a criminal matter, was handed to the RCMP and Elnoury was enlisted to gather evidence. He paid a visit to his friend in Montreal.
Elnoury portrays Esseghaier as zealously devoted to the extremist cause, but also someone who had a crush on a female colleague and enjoyed eating lobster and stopping in at Tim Hortons.
During a drive to Toronto to meet Jaser, Esseghaier confided details of the operation: al-Qaida planners in Iran ordered him to cut a hole in the train tracks. He and Jaser would use jackhammers to cut the track, while Elnoury would be needed to act as lookout.
Esseghaier told Elnoury he emptied his bank account in the spring of 2011, buying a one-way ticket to Tehran and planning to drive to Afghanistan, where he would die in battle. But in Zahedan, a town in southeastern Iran, he was recruited by al-Qaida. He returned the next year for training and was briefed on the train plot.
(So this guy is not some random impulsive twit- he has had MANY contacts with other radicals in a well connected alliance of radical groups! With Our idiot |Boy deliberately BLIND to all these reports!)
Esseghaier also said something that made Elnoury’s heart race: there was a “soldier” in the U.S., an al-Qaida sleeper agent known as Al-Amriki, the American. Esseghaier expected to meet him one day.
“We needed to rethink the case,” Elnoury writes. “Chiheb was our only link to the American sleeper. There was no way we could arrest him before we identified the other sleeper.”
Planning for the train attack continued. But Elnoury pressed Esseghaier about meeting the sleeper. A key Iranian contact finally agreed it would be a good idea, and invited Esseghaier and Elnoury for a talk in Dubai.
(One has to ask where in hell these guys are getting the money to travel like that? The terrorist made two trips to Iran, a trip to Mexico, a trip to California and back to Toronto again,)
Elnoury wanted to go, but he was skeptical the Canadians would let Esseghaier travel overseas at this point. In April 2013, Eric Holder, then U.S. attorney general, flew to Ottawa to discuss the Dubai idea, the book says.
However, the RCMP executed arrest warrants, ending the operation.
(No doubt RCMP were acting on the orders of LIE-berals as RCMP security service us usually friendly to Yankees and they cooperate smoothly- and we can guess that Yankees badly wanted to catch the sleeper in their country! Sadly- LIE-berals are much less cooperative with Yankees than our cops-so the operation at the Cdn end was CLOSED!)
Elnoury understood the decision. The rail plot case was over. And just a week earlier, bombs had exploded at the Boston Marathon, killing three and injuring hundreds.
“Everyone was on edge,” he writes. “No one wanted to let a terrorist slip out of our grasp.”
But mostly Elnoury was angry. “I felt like the Canadians and the FBI wasted all of our hard work.”
(I suggest that it was NOT FBI who wasted the work- I guess it is LIE-berals who did not want the full extent of Muslim terror revealed to us as it would have made LIE-beral immigration policy look BAD!)
Elnoury did not consider the arrests a victory. “Best case, we tied. But really you could say we failed,” he writes.
“Chiheb was a lot of things, but he was never a liar. Personally, I have no doubt that there was an American sleeper.”
Has anybody watched that TVO program “political blind date” where Jagmeet Singh and Doug Ford discuss transit? With Ford making mincemeat of the Singh emphasis on LRT`s and bicycles!
There was Ford pointing at St Clair Ave streetcars- with THREE going by in less than a minute- with one having 7 people aboard, another with 4 and the third apparently EMPTY! AS Ford pointed out- an ENTIRE LANE of traffic and a bunch of parking spots were eliminated to install the LRT! With harsh consequences for local business as the number of customers dropped due to the difficulty of easy access to stores.
IT is a fact that subways move people three times faster than an LRT- and subway does this WITHOUT messing up existing surface traffic! And yes- subways also cost three times more than LRT but they last three times LONGER as well! With subways having the further advantage of NOT being affected by surface events such as major blizzards or large building fires!
In real terms– long term cost, effectiveness, speed and reliability, subways WIN!
And Jagmeet? He likes LRT`s! He touts the scenic opportunities available on LRT`s! He asks: “who wants to be underground when you could be on an LRT enjoying the sunshine” and etc?
I would suggest that people who are short of time and have a long way to travel would prefer being underground on a subway as it will be three times FASTER! People who need to get swiftly to their day care centre to pick up their kid and avoid late charges do not really care about scenery as much as they do efficiency! People who work 12 hours shifts- cops, nurses and others do not care about scenery- they want to get home and take a load off!
SELFISH GTA politicians tout LRT`s because they are relatively cheap to build- and NOT because they are efficient! Jag does not have the mind set of a typical commuter- he is a typical elitist politician! Jag KNOWS that a successful politician MUST hand out gravy to civil service Hogs and building more efficient subways INTERFERES with gravy train supplies!
Jag is also hostile to commuters travelling long distances- by any means- he touts bicycles as THE WAY to go! The idiot does not consider how far many people MUST travel for work. Jag IGNORES long term studies that dictate that something like 25 percent of the entire population of Toronto MOVES at least once a year- seeking apartments near where their latest job-short term contract position has sprung up. That rootless, mostly dead broke population is in need of FAST TRANSIT!
So are the people on the next rung of the economic ladder in need of FAST TRANSIT! The people who have managed to buy a house or condo when times were good and now find it cheaper to commute than to move residence! Once you have been in a place for a few years and built up some equity-your mortgage cost fixed and your salary slowly being inflated and thus mortgage gets easier to pay- one has to balance commuting costs and new mortgage costs to determine if its cheaper to stay or move- and of course many of these people are married and with two people working the math on moving or staying gets MORE complicated yet again! Same deal with couples renting- stay a few years and rent controls protect you- yoyur salary slowly inflates but your rent inflates at a much slower rate- making the stay or move equation complicated by the increased costs at a ew location- versus the commuting costs!
LIE-berals and their less intelligent Ndp cousins constantly tell us about global warming and what a DISASTER it will bring us- so WHY will they not make the effort necessary to build first class transit so we can see CLEARLY the virtue of leaving the car at home?
Should we assume that the LIE-beral Carbon crap and trade scam is EXACTLY what I have said it is- simply a giant LIE-beral slush fund to be used by selfish LIE-berals to BUY civil service Hog votes so LIE-berals can cling to power at any price? While LIE-berals \PRETEND to care about the environment!
On the Blind date TVO show- Jag took Doug on a Bixi bike ride- Bixi bikes rentals are available from various locations around Toronto- Bixi is the old/original name and they have a new name now that I did not catch as I was too busy trying to recall details of why the original Bixi version FAILED! Something to do with high costs and low usage and the dead broke city not wanting to put any more money into the Bixi money pit. I say: its nice that Bixi has found an economic model that enables them to function and survive and I am quite pleased that the new incarnation does not suck up a lot of tax payers money! Frugal and efficient operation is a VIRTUE for this hard pressed tax payer! Frugal and efficient are apparently words not much admired by people like Jagmeet!

How very sad it is that Our idiot Boy Justin has aspirations to import his idiot views to other countries- in this case he wants to “help” Mali by sending Cdn peace “keepers” to this impoverished sub Saharan nation. One really has to ask HOW IN HELL this can end well when Cdn military will be guided and instructed AND ORDERED in all ways on the mission by LIE-beral values!
Mali is on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert- meaning it is SHORT on water- so arable land and food supplies are also SHORT! It is a typical, fly blown, third world pest hole. Mali was once a French colony but has evolved into a sort of
French Protectorate. In such a place of poverty and shortage, Shufta/bandits can flourish! In such a hard place one must grab whatever is on offer- so bandits and raiders and robbers proliferate. Some Shufta have dreams BEYOND mere thievery and believe THEY are just as able to run the country as the existing pack of guys in Western suits doing the job- so friction of a political sort is common.
Mali also has the usual collection of minority ethnic rebel groups- spiced with Muslim terror groups and it is this gang that western military action - and NOT PEACE KEEPING - is targeted against! Cdn military has never operated any place near Mali and knows little about the place so where will Our idiot Boy get advice and guidance on how to proceed with the mission?
Our idiot Boy appears to have his fathers vile values- meaning he despises “Imperial” power- Father Pierre happily told us that the war against Nazi Germany was “British Imperialism” so Our idiot Boy will NOT be taking advice from French Colonialists familiar with Mali! Our idiot Boy appears to think his father was right to condemn “Cdn Imperialism” so it it seems unlikely that Our idiot will accept French military advice either- especially since most of the French troops in Mali are Foreign Legion- hired guns and mercenaries- seen by Our idiot Boy as the dregs from many countries- serving French Imperial masters- THEY will have no advice for Our idiot Boy!

One in which Cdn troops will be put out in No Mans Land to be used for target practice by warring factions! A total of 68 “peace keepers” have already died in Mali in the last couple of years. Sadly- it is likely idiot LIE-berals will expect Cdn peace keepers in Mali to do as peace keepers in Bosnia did- keep their heads low, fill the body bags as necessary to be shipped back to Canada and to OBEY THE PRIME DIRECTIVE- which will be NEVER SHOOT BACK! There is NO peace to keep in Mali- so NO need for Lie-beral “peace keeping” SOCIAL WORKERS in uniforms either
Eventually events in Mali will deteriorate to a point where “peace keeping is CLEARLY a waste of time, money and lives and the Cdn troops will come home! But HEY- Our idiot Boy WILL make sure he gets a few selfies with happy Malian villagers sucking up foreign aid before the SERIOUS shooting starts!
In time, either Mali will descend into chaos- just another failed third world state- abandoned by the- as always impotent UN- or it will get a batch of PEACE MAKERS who will kill anybody with a gun who is NOT wearing a blue UN helmet! And THEN there will be peace!

TORONTO — An Algerian man is set to sue the federal government for the abuses he says he suffered at the hands of American security forces after he left Canada 15 years ago.
The unproven allegations by Djamel Ameziane, who was never charged or prosecuted, raise further questions about Canada’s complicity in the abuse of detainees at Guantanamo Bay — a topic his lawyer said demands a full-scale public inquiry.
“My current situation is really bad, I am struggling to survive,” Ameziane, 50, said from near Algiers. “I was repatriated from Guantanamo and left like almost homeless. I couldn’t find a job because of the Guantanamo stigma and my age, so a settlement would be very helpful to me to get my life back together.”
(Yes- I am sure $50 mill would help immensely- the only question is whether idiot LIE-berals can come up with an argument in favour of giving it to him! Surely even Our idiot Boy will see the sense of laughing this crap out of court!)
In a draft statement of claim obtained by The Canadian Press, Ameziane seeks damages of $50 million on the grounds that Canada’s security services co-operated with their U.S. counterparts even though they knew the Americans were abusing him.
“The Crown’s conduct constituted acquiescence and tacit consent to the torture inflicted upon the plaintiff,” the lawsuit alleges.
Canadian intelligence, the suit alleges, began sharing information with the Americans after failing to pick up on the 1999 “Millennium plot” in which Ahmed Ressam, another Algerian who had been living in Montreal, aimed to blow up the Los Angeles airport. After 9/11, Canadian agents interrogated Ameziane at the infamous American prison in Cuba, as they did Canada’s Omar Khadr, according to the claim.
(IN other words, the Chretien LIE-beral govt was so sloppy about national security issues- such as Muslim terror cells setting up shop in Canada and using it as a base to attack Yankees that one obvious wsay to ensure the U.S. border was not CLOSED to all \Cdns was to START cooperating with FBI! It does not help that LIE-beral immigration policies are full of security holes that let all manner of dangerous goofs into Canada. So LIE-berals felt compelled to cooperate as a way of winning back trust! And of course WE SHOULD be cooperating with |Yankees and all other NATO allies - Muslim terror is international in scope and so an international opposition is necessary! Ameziane’s Edmonton-based lawyer, Nate Whitling, said the government’s recent out-of-court settlement — worth a reported $10.5 million — with Khadr over violation of his rights has prevented scrutiny of Canada’s alleged complicity in abuses at Guantanamo Bay. A judicial inquiry is needed, Whitling said.
“Only then can the Canadian public come to understand the extent to which Canada is responsible for the torture of innocent detainees in the aftermath of 9/11,” Whitling said.
The lawyer, who said he planned to file the lawsuit in Court of Queen’s Bench in Edmonton on Monday, said Ameziane would be prepared to put the claim on hold in exchange for an inquiry. Whitling also said two other people planned similar suits that name the federal government, RCMP and Canadian Security and Intelligence Service.
Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale had no comment given the pending legal proceedings.

The U.S. detained Ameziane at Guantanamo Bay for more than 11 years until his release in December 2013.
“For many years, I had the idea of suing the Canadian government but didn’t know how and honestly didn’t know it was possible until I read the news about the settlement of Omar Khadr, who was my fellow inmate in Guantanamo Bay,” Ameziane said. “The action I am taking may also make Canadian officials think twice before acting against the interests of Canada and Canada’s human values.”
(HAHAHAHA!! Acting against Cdn interests and values? This guy CAN get work! As a COMEDIAN MOCKING idiot LIE-berals!)
According to his claim, Ameziane left Algeria in the 1990s to escape rising violence there. After working as a chef in Austria, he came to Canada in December 1995 and asked for refugee status. He lived in Montreal for five years, attending mosques where the Americans said members of al-Qaida prayed.
(Here is an indictment if LIE-beral immigration policy- if they had acted more swiftly- this Muslim would NOT have had any tie to Canada and would not have ended up being on a terror watch list handed to Yankees! Again it is sloppy, morally muddled LIE-berals who carry FULL BLAME for all this Khdr Khrap!)
When Canada rejected his request for asylum, Ameziane opted to go to Afghanistan rather than Algeria, where he feared abuse. He left Afghanistan for Pakistan in October 2001 when fighting erupted, but was captured and turned over to American forces in exchange for a bounty, his claim states.
The Americans first took him to a detention facility in Kandahar, where he alleges guards brutalized him, then sent him to Guantanamo Bay based partly on information provided by Canadian intelligence, according to his claim.
Ameziane, who denies any terrorism links, says Canadian agents interviewed him in Guantanamo in February and May 2003 and turned over recordings of the interrogations to the Americans. They did so, he claims, despite widespread allegations that U.S. forces were abusing detainees and even though they knew he faced no charges and had no access to a lawyer or the courts.
Ameziane alleged American officials interrogated him hundreds of times and abused him when they decided he wasn’t co-operating. The abuse, he alleges, included sleep-deprivation, intrusive genital searches, pepper-spraying, waterboarding, being left in freezing conditions, and having his head slammed against walls and the floor, dislocating his jaw.
(And whty doesnt he seek help through his own govt in his place of birth cand current residence- Algeria? Oh- right- thanks to LIE-berals, Canada is the SUCKER NATION of the world! Thank you LIE-berals!)
“Canadian officials came to interview me on two occasions (and) they not only shared information about me with my American torturers but even tried to get information out of me that had nothing to do with Canada in order to help my American torturers,” Ameziane said. “I refused to answer questions, after that I was subjected to a worse treatment by the Americans.”
(Oh dear me- Cdn officials interviewed the guy TWICE in eleven years and all his troubles are CANADIAN TROUBLES? Like I said: he is a COMEDIAN! Too bad Cdn tax payers- already on the hook for Khadr- are NOT laughing- but a pack of jihadist jerks are howling like hyenas at Cdn LIE-beral madness!)

The average Canadian wage is falling behind inflation and the distribution of Canadian income is becoming more unequal. Isn't that a news story?
Statistics Canada reports the average Canadian wage in May 2017 was $25.88 an hour—just 33 cents up from May 2016, a paltry 1.3% increase. It’s below the inflation rate, which stands at 1.6%.
(And govt monkeys with the inflation rates by selecting a so called “package” of items to price. Who cares if the price of some products is stable when the quality- which govt DOES NOT measure- is going down? LIE-berals claim victory when Chinese currency manipulators find ways to reduce both price and quality on their exports to us as LIE-berals focus only on individual price and NOT on how often the product needs to be replaced! So what if your refrigerator is 20 percent cheaper if its service life is DOWN 40 percent!)
(LIE-berals look at AVERAGES ONLY- as property taxes in some areas- that do not have a large number of civil service Hogs living in them go up much faster than in other areas with sizeable private sector population that LIE-berals and civil service union Hogs view as cash cows to be milked! Its why property tax rates in Toronto are such a bargain compared regions around the GTA! The average worker is falling behind the cost of living. And when you look at the picture by social class it gets even more troubling.
Statistics Canada recently released a complete 2015 income data set. When Canadians are put into deciles—stacked by income then sliced into 10 'decile' groups each containing 10% of the population—the data shows growing class division.
From 2006 to 2015, Canadians in the top two income deciles—the top 20%—increased their share of Canada's total after-tax income from 44% to 45%. The share of each of the other eight deciles—80% of Canadians—shrank.
(And those top deciles are largely made up of Sunshines List Hogs and politicians! Along with an army of lawyers, financiers and other service industry types who travel with the Hogs like Remora feeding off the leavings of Sharks!)
The standard of living for the average Canadian worker is falling. Our society has grown more divided.
You’d think this Prime Minister—elected on a promise of middle class growth—would be getting grilled on this every day. You’d assume media opinion writers are in a torrid outrage, demanding answers.
Nope.
Our pundit class seem equally divided between those who breathlessly write about our Prime Minister’s sock choices and those who whine that conservative columnist Jonathan Kay is being treated unfairly on Twitter.

(News media types have been whining for several years about declining ad revenue as people turn to other sources for news and entertainment- sources that Cdns often feel is more HONEST about LIE-beral shame!)
Canadian news media has an important job to do for Canadians—and is failing.
According to polling by EKOS research, in 2002 about 50% of Canadians believed their personal financial situation was going to improve in the next five years. Just 15% said it would get worse. And 67% of Canadians described themselves as middle class.
Now, after years of privatization and tax cuts by Liberals and Conservatives, just 46% describe themselves as middle class. Nearly half say they are poor or working class. Only 29% believe their situation will get better in five years, 33% say worse times are coming for them. Today, 56% of Canadians feel they're in a recession right now.
(H- there is is LIE-beral propaganda yet again- whining about LIE-beral AND Conservative tax cuts- such HYPOCRISY! The Harper Conservatives made tax cuts to lure business and create jobs after the 2008 mortgage melt down- AS LIE-berals urged them too and Harper did these things while LIE-berals squealed it was NOT ENOUGH! Harper also froze civil service Hog wages to control and limit national debt and spending! Because of frugal Harper- Canada came through that mess better than any other G-8 nation! It is LIE-berals who then took over from “penny pinching dictator Harper” and opened the floodgates- spending wildly and running up huge debts while feeding a river of gravy to never satisfied Hogs! Harper reined in deficits in difficult years while LIE-berals opened the floodgates to SPEND wildly on their Hog allies!)
Yet we hear almost nothing about Canada's shrinking middle class. We hear nothing from our Prime Minister about boosting working class wage growth.
(What we are seeing is the true value of LIE-beral promises! They can no more conjure up wealth for Canada than Joe Stalin could produce prosperity in Soviet Union! The socialist values that Our idiot Boy Justin believes in are in disgrace throughout the former Soviet world. Only Our idiot Boy and his cabal of greedy Hogs who expect to be greatly rewarded for their loyalty and willingness to ignore economic reality are willing to support Trudope nonsense!)
Instead, we get an endless stream of reporting about culture wars, much of it dredged up from some obscure U.S. town, city or campus where someone who loves Trump or someone who hates Trump said something outrageous.
Keep it up at this pace, my media friends, and no one will care a whit when you’re gone. Canadians will get their sensationalist U.S. news directly from sensationalist U.S. news media. They can get their Twitter and socks anywhere.
Millions of working class Canadians are trying to stay above the poverty line as quality jobs drain away and part-time, contract and temporary work floods in. If Trudeau has a plan, no one knows what it is—and it’s certainly not working. That’s the news story Canadians are living. Cover it.
(Face it now- the Trudope “plan to save the middle class” is nothing more than a bigger, more costly and more damaging version of the old NDP Bob Rae crap intending to make us all “rich” with borrowed money! And how was Rae- or Our idiot Boy supposed to know there is not enough money on loan for the idiot plan to work! They are trying to make the financial equivalent of a perpetual motion machine- just throw in enough cash into the economic mix and it will somehow breed or ferment and more will come out than was shoved in!)
Justin Trudeau promised middle class growth. The role of news media is to tell Canadians what their government is doing to keep it’s promises. Not only has Justin Trudeau failed to live up to his central promise, our news media is failing to live up to theirs.
